Overview
A few tips to make Kingdom Come: Deliverance enjoyable even for those who find it too realistic
Intro
I read too many people who doesn’t like the game because it’s too hard, too realistic, because the save system or combat system sucks etc… Well i think this game is a masterpiece (or at least will be one when bugs will be fixed) and i want to give you a few keys to enjoy it, because even if you don’t like this game, he loves you.
How to save when you want (without mods)
At first you’ll have to finish the tutorial (~1 hour), but after that you’ll be able to save in the 5 minutes after you decided it. Ok first how to brew saviour schnaps (the save potion) .
And bam you can have your save on you for almost free (harvest or buy the ingredients from a trader). Don’t abuse it but you can drink it from time to time without becoming alcoholic. Secondly, well, just find a bed and sleep for one hour. There are beds everywhere, you can rent one for 2 golds in most city/villages, sleep for free in woodcamps, bandit camps, etc… So in fact you’re always rather close to a bed.
With this solved->
How to not be a useless peasant
Now the combat system. In this game, they choose to favor realism over gameplay. So even if you’re the most skilled gamer on earth, you’ll still be a filthy peasant in the first few hours. I won’t go into details, but for example, all of your attacks will be blocked while you won’t be able to block sh*t. I saw a deep frustration in the reviews about this. But in fact, to be able to kill something tougher than a rebel peasant, you NEED to train with this guy.Your best buddy kicking your *ss
Until you train with him every combat will be a pain in the *ss because you’ll miss 75% of the things you can do in combat…Futhermore, you’ll safely upgrade your combat skills with him.
How to not stay a simple footman
You’ll have to train with your buddy before you continue the main quest until you get a horse because he won’t be available while you do this quest
Last but not least, how to not stay a poor peasant
Well, in all RPG -that i know-, you don’t win the most money with quests, you get it with loots, and for once this game behave like any other RPG. So be sure to strip everyone you kill, and take at least the items with the best ratio price/weight. When you need to hold “E” in order to loot a body that means you’ve killed a civilian. They will give you items labelled as “stolen” which will be harder to sell.
Not enough ? Ok but this is almost an exploit so use it carefully … hunting. Hunting in this game is just broken. Just kill an animal, preferably a deer, then cook the meat, and sell it. The meat will rot fast. Find wealthy traders and you’ll be able to sell it for about 1000 golds per deer.
For now animals, especially rabbits, have severe myopia. And yes potato PC.
Other few tips
Some quests have a time limit. For example, quests where people are in danger, or quests when NPCs insist that you need to do it fast will surely have a time limit. Always keep bandages on yourself or you may bleed to death. You can eat for free in cooking pots (yeah it’s not stealing). Health potions are a big + too. You need a shovel to dig treasures. With heavy armor the weakest oponents will have a hard time to hurt you.
Conclusion
Now you have your horse, you’re a bit trained, you have ways to make money -> Congratulation you’re no more a filthy peasant. This should have taken a few hours, and this has been a very long tutorial but as usual in this game devs favored realism.
In conclusion : this game isn’t so hard it just focused on realism so you have to adapt to its own rules, this has been said thousands of times but this isn’t a typical RPG, this is more like a medieval simulation. Still, as i showed you devs gave us several ways to make the game easier. With a proper guide (😉) this game can even be enjoyed by non-hardcore gamers.
