Overview

How to tell whether your weapon does slash or strike damage, and which bosses are weak to which.

Does Your Weapon Do Slash or Strike Damage?

Some weapons do a slash damage, others do strike damage. The simple way to tell the difference is if your weapon makes a whoosh sound. If your weapon attack makes a sharp whoosh sound, it is doing slash damage, and a thud or no sound is strike damage. Keep in mind that one weapon can do both types of damage and your moveset can do different damage types. Quoting the wiki: “Weapions with blades typically do slash damage”. Keep in mind, however, that this isn’t always true.


Certain enemies are weaker to strike, some to slash. Take the bronze knights for example.

These knights have 100 strike defense, and 500 slash defense. They are more susceptible to blunt attacks.

The Unspeakable Deep
Not really handy, but i’ll include it anyway. (You CAN kill this boss, but you have only one chance to do so at the beginning of a new character. There is an achievement for killing him)

200 slash defence
0 elemental defence

Weakest to blunt and elemental attacks.


The Sodden Knight
“First” boss of the game.

0 strike defence
180 slash defence
-50 fire defence
150 poison defence

Weakest to fire and strike, resilient against slash damage and poison.


The Queen of Smiles
Second boss of the game.

250 strike defence
50 slash defence
-50 holy defence
50+ defence for elements other than holy

She is by far weakest to holy damage and slash damage.


The False Jester
Third boss, technically optional if you beat the Kraeken Cyclops first.

300 strike defence
0 slash defence
0 elemental defence

The False Jester is weak to slash and elemental damage.


Kraeken Cyclops
Technically optional, if you just beat the jester.

500 strike defence
0 slash defence
0 elemental defence

He is VERY resilient against strike damage, try slash and elemental damage.


The Mad Alchemist
Boss of the Watching Woods.

200 strike defence
50 slash defence
50 elemental defence

Weakest to slash and elemental damage.


Kraeken Wyrm
The boss of the castle of storms.

100 strike defence
250 slash defence
500 poison defence
50 elemental defence

The wyrm is weakest to elemental damage, and strike damage is better than slash.


Tree of Men
Boss of the Red Hall of Cages.

100 strike defence
500 slash defence
50 elemental damage

Weakest to elemental damage and strike damage.


The Untouched Inquisitor
First boss of the Dome of the Forgotten.

500 strike defence
0 slash defence
-50 fire + arcane defence
500 holy defence
50 lighting + poison defence

This boss is very weak to fire and arcane, and slash damage.


The Third Lamb
Second boss of the Dome of the Forgotten.

Ronin Cran
Boss of the secret area Cran’s Pass.
