Overview
This guide has statistics and locations for all weapons in Far Cry 4. It also includes information for each weapon on how to get it as early as possible in the game. But even without reading those spoiler sections, it’s also handy for quickly and easily checking the stats of a weapon at any time, whether you’re in a spot in game where stats are not available (such as when picking up a weapon from an enemy) or you want a stat that’s not given to you on the weapons screen at a trading post, such as the sizes of regular and extended magazines or the attachments available for a weapon you’ve not yet acquired.
Introduction
This guide lists all weapons in Far Cry 4, more or less in the order that they are unlocked. The unlock order can vary depending on when (and if) you decide to do optional missions, and whether or not you find particular weapons on dead allies or enemies, or hidden in the world.
Editor’s note: this guide is still a work in progress, and will be expanded over the next few weeks. While the list of weapons found earlier in the game is complete, some of the later weapons are still missing. Where information on a particular weapon is available but incomplete, we mark missing information with ???. Corrections and updates are welcome.
This guide is particularly handy to use when brought up in the Steam Overlay while playing Far Cry 4; a simple shift-tab lets you quickly look up stats without having to switch away from the game.
Note that any weapon you pick up, even if you drop it immediately, becomes unlocked in stores and has the price reduced to free. So it’s worth picking up and dropping any weapon you’ve not seen before, even if you don’t want to use it at that particular moment. Otherwise, weapons become unlocked for a price as the story and/or other progressions move forward.
This guide contains minor spoilers throughout in that it will inform you of the existence of certain weapons before the game would do so. (While all Signature weapons are shown from your first shop visit, some standard weapons remain hidden until certain missions have been started or completed.)
You can minimize spoilers by reading no further in the guide than you’ve gotten in the game.
Sections with less minor spoilers are marked with a “SPOILERS” notice and major spoilers are blacked out with spoiler tags.
Some weapons can be unlocked considerably earlier than indicated by the game; techniques for doing this are given in the “Weapon PIck-up Locations” section. Note that that section contains spoilers that may reduce your enjoyment and/or surprise at discovering these techniques yourself.
The Far Cry 4 Useful Weapons Guide on Steam contains much more detailed descriptions of the most useful weapons in the game.
Prices
All prices are given as “KrNNN” indicating the cost in Kyrati rupees, or “Kr0” for free items.
When you reach Karma level 1, attachment prices are reduced by 25%, and at level 3 all weapon prices are reduced by 25%. The prices in this guide never reflect this discount.
Weapon Listing Format
The weapon listings are in the following format:
- Name type (Na Nd Nr Nf Nm, N/N) price.
Attachments.
Unlock description.
The fields are:
- The name of the weapon is as given in the game.
- The type of weapon, which usually indicates the type of ammunition the weapon uses.
- The accuracy, damage, range, fire rate and mobility (all on a scale of 1-10) followed by the magazine size and, if available, extended magazine size.
- The price in Kr (Kyrati Rupees), and when it becomes free, if it does.
- The number of simultaneous attachments that the weapon may have, followed by a list of all available attachments. This reads “No attachments” if none are available.
- A description of how the weapon is unlocked. This description is that given at trading posts, or the particular mission if the weapon doesn’t appear until a certain mission. See Appendix III for ways of unlocking weapons earlier than this, and making weapons free.
Some listings are in a similar but older format; these will be updated as time goes on.
Weapon Attachments
Weapons may, depending on the wapon, have up to three different attachments added: a barrel attachment, a sight, and an extended magazine.
Attachments of a particular kind cost the same for all weapons; their costs and stat boosts are as follows.
- Suppressor. Kr42,000.
Reduces muzzle flash and noise. However, this does not make the weapon as silent as a throwing knife or bow.
The default iron sights can be difficult to see, especially in low-light conditions. These sights are considerably easier to see and in some cases also give slightly more zoom and a stat boost.
- Night Sight. Kr9,500.
- Reflex Sight. Kr32,000.
+2 Accuracy, +1 Mobility. - Marksman Sight. Kr32,000.
+1 Accuracy, +2 Range, +1 Mobility. - Optical Sight. Kr???.

Increases ammo capacity, usually by 20% for pistols, 33% for SMGs and rifles, and 100% for machine guns.

Prologue Missions
In the first three missions you can do little except run (though you can pick up some ammo while you do this) and, while you’re being driven in the vehicle, shoot enemies. (The Skorpion SMG you use in the truck does not count as a “picked up” weapon; you’ll still need to pay for it in the shop if you don’t pick it up later in the game.) The fourth mission finally brings you to the point where you’re properly playing.
During this fourth mission you will be able to pick your first weapon, an AK-47, from one of the first guards you kill. You’ll also be able to pick up a second weapon, the Mark IV pistol, at the bottom of the pool next to the first treasure chest you encounter, which will make it free at the first shop, potentially saving you a trivial amount of money.
You’ll also be able to do at least one crafting upgrade using hides from the various animals you discover on your way to the tower. If you use a few takedowns on the guards where you can, you should be able to finish the mission with a fair amount of various kinds of ammo, 300-400 XP (close to the 500 XP you need for your first skill point) and, after selling off all your loot excepting crafting loot, about Kr150,000.
First Trading Post (Initial Weapon Unlocks)
After the prologue you enter the open-world part of the game, and start in the village of Banapur. Here you can visit your first trading post, either the shopkeeper in the village or the cabinet in the safehouse.
These weapons unlock immediately on your first visit to a trading post.

Weapon Pick-up Locations (Spoilers)
This is a list of areas where you can pick up weapons to either unlock them (if locked) or make them free in the shop. It also includes instructions on finding collectables and missions for those weapons where it’s not obvious.
SPOILER ALERT: While the exact locations or techniques are in spoiler tags, the approximate first time you can unlock/make free the weapon is not. In some cases weapons can be unlocked considerably earlier than the game might indicate, and you may find this removes the joy and surprise of discovering this on your own.
- AK-47: Picked up from any dead guard. If you bypass all the guards, there will be one leaning against the tower at the end.
- Mark IV: At the bottom of the second deep pond along the river, near the first chest.
Before the takeover of the first outpost, Khilana Bazaar.
- Stormer SMG: Propaganda posters can be found at Prabhakar’s Farm (X:291 Y:459), on a building at (X:261 y:473), and at the base of first bell tower.
- Mark IV: First Sabal mission (Propaganda Machine). Near the first dead solder on the way to the the tower.
- Skorpion: Free after first Sabal mission (Propaganda machine.)
- M133: Found on some enemy soldiers in the valley. Also becomes free after saving the village in the main campaign.
- 1911: Kill soldier or rebel who is inside a vehicle. (Killing a rebel will reduce your karma.)
Just after taking over the first outpost, Khilana Bazaar.
Once you’re into act two, a lot of different weapons are to be found for pick-up all over the south, and all areas are now easily accessible with the helicopter just outside Khilana Bazaar. This section does not attempt to list all of the places you can unlock new weapons or make them free, but only the easiest ones. The list is in approximate order of how easy it is to get to the location from Khilana Bazaar.
- Warrior: Royal Cargo trucks can frequently be found just past the first intersection on the road leading east out of the Khilana Bazaar (the first stronghold), around X:325 Y:445.
- 87: The four Mohan Ghale journal entries closest to the start can be found 1) in the first safe house at Banapur, 2) to the left to the door at the funeral site at X:247 Y:397, 3) Khilana Bazaar (the first stronghold, X:299 Y:425) in safe house, 4) In a warehouse at X:328 Y:432, on top of the white packages on upper shelves on the northern side.
- P416 assault rifle: Carried by some guards at the tower at X:475 Y:685.
- A2000: Carried by some guards at the tower at X:475 Y:685.
- Z-93 sniper rifle: Carried by some guards at the tower at X:475 Y:685.
- Recurve Bow: At any time after starting the Black Water Dragon quest at Kyra Tea Weigh Station (X:345 Y:380), the bow is found at the bottom of the pond in Yalung’s Teeth, a riverside cave at X:348 Y:404. Beware the Demon Fish in the pond.
- M-79: Found during the quest for the Black Water Dragon, a Fashion Week quest started at Kyra Tea Weigh Station (X:345 Y:380). Also found nearby at the start of many Armed Escort missions.
- RPG-7: Found on the body of an enemy late in Act2:3.
Editor’s note: the Act Two and Act Three sections here are not yet complete.
After opening up the northern half of the map.
- Auto Cross: Found in the prison mine of mission 1, “Don’t Look Down,” in one of the two weapons caches before the bell tower.
Appendix I: Mission Summary
This is a summary of the missions over the course of the game, for reference when you’re looking at when something is unlocked. I try to keep my numbering similar to the Far Cry Wiki (see below), which is why, for example, you see The Wolves’ Den numbered 6, even though we do it before number 5, Propaganda Machine.
Where I refer to missions above, I use the format “A2.3” to refer to Act 2 mission 3, “Sermon on the Mount.”
I divide Act One in to two parts, the prologue, which is not open world, and Banapur Valley, which is where the open world part of the game starts and where you can first buy weapons of your choice.
For “Balance of Power” missions you do only one of the two; you choose one or the other, depending on which scumbag you feel is least worst.
Note that the missions marked “(Longinus)” below are campaign missions, and do not count towards your separate total of non-campaign Longinus missions completed.
Linear; you may move only forward in one direction.
- 1. Border Crossing (starting cutscene). 0 XP.
- 2. Dinner with Pagan (mainly cutscene; minor loot collection). 0 XP.
- 3. Escape the Compound (run and ride as vehicle passenger). 0 XP.
- 4. Reach the Bell Tower (first time you can make decisions) 100 XP.
Entry to the open world. Banapur town and the valley around it in the south-west of the map.

- 5. Propaganda Machine (first Sabal Mission). 200 XP.
- 7. Return to Sender (Leads to Banpur attack. (Longinus). 200 XP.
- 8. Hostage Negotiation (continuation of 7; first hostage rescue mission)
- 9. Incursion (continuation of 8; taking of first outpost, Khilana Bazaar)
The entire southern half of the map is opened.
- 1. Balance of Power:
- Hunt or Be Hunted (Amita)
- Rebel Yell (Sabal)

The following sites give information about missions, and I have checked this list against theirs.
- The Far Cry Wikia’s Far Cry 4 Story Missions[farcry.wikia.com]. (Thanks to the various contributors to that!)
- The IGN Far Cry 4 wiki Campaign Missions page.
Appendix II: Screenshots of Initial Shop Weapons
These are screenshots of all the weapons you can see the first time you visit the shop. These were taken with a game started after clearing the save files (otherwise you’d see all weapons you’d discovered in previous playthroughs) and on a installation with the Season Pass (so that all DLC signature weapons are listed).
Appendix III: Sources and Links
Note that some of the pages below are inaccurate, as if they’ve been copied straight out of the game descriptions, ignoring part of them. One typical error to check for is how the Auto Cross is unlocked. The game states that it can be unlocked via a campaign mission and is made free after liberating 17 bell towers. Several of the guides below state only that it’s unlocked after 17 bell towers, when actually it’s unlocked much earlier after a game mission. Guides with this problem are marked “(Has inaccuracies.)”
