Voice / Text CMDS

Overview

This guide will help you with voice and chat commands in Day of Defeat : Source.

Voice Commands

To bind one of these voice commands to a key all you have to do is type in console, bind “key” “voice_cmd”

If you do not know how to open console, on the MAIN MENU press options->keyboard->advanced then check mark “Enable Developer Console” after that press “Ok” then press “~”
If you do not have a qwerty keyboard then choose a different key to bind it to.

Ex. bind m voice_negative

It’s telling the game to use the key “m” to say “Negative!”

Alternatively you can just type !voice_commandname. It does exactly the same thing but not every server has this. Its the same as typing voice_commandname in console.

Plugins/Chat Commands

Some servers on DoD:S allow you to heal yourself, throw bombs, light people on fire, and let your team mates know your location and health. You can also check the time left on the map or even the next map!

NOT ALL SERVERS HAVE THIS

but to the ones that do,

!medic – heals you, might make you drugged or stunned instead.

voice_medic will do the same on some servers and some it will just be a voice command.

if you are drugged just type !medic again and it will remove the drug.

!flame – allows you to use a short ranged flame thrower

!settings – differs from server but sometimes you can disable sounds/extra junk in chat

!models – some servers have custom models you can choose from

!guns – some servers allow you to pick a specific gun you want, no matter what class you are.

!rank – shows your rank/position on the server.

!cb/clusterbomb – throws a deadly bomb at your enemies.

!res or /res to turn on/off round end sounds

currentmap – shows the current map you are on. Alternatively you can open the console and check the upper right of your screen to check what map you are on.

nextmap – shows the nextmap.

timeleft – shows the timeleft on the map/level.

%l – shows your location on the map.

%h – shows how much health you have left.

%t – shows the time left on the map.

%c – shows your class

Examples :

bind x “say I’m at %l with %h HP, and need backup!”

bind x “say I’m a %c! with %h, and I need back up!”

Muting Players

If you want to mute players individually, while on a server press “ESC” you should see the Server Browser close that then press on “MUTE PLAYERS” then mute a player.

Instead of individually, in console type voice_enable 0 and when you want to hear them again type voice_enable 1.

If you want to mute Text chat, in console type hud_saytext_time 0 and when you want to see text chat again, open console and type hud_saytext_time 12 or any value you want. I suggest 5.
