Vehicle Setup Summery for DiRT Rally

Vehicle Setup Summery

Overview

This is a very basic summary of the vehicle setup made a little bit from my own experience but mostly from this in-depht guide on vehicle setup in dirt rallyI made this guide for my friends that are new to the game and don’t fully know how to setup there cars. If you are a casual gamer, new to dirt rally and don’t bother reading a lot of text, feel free to read trough this but otherwise I advice you to take a look at the guide linked earlier.

A short guide on vehicle setup

In this guide I am only focessing on the basic setup, if you are interested in the advanced setup, you should probably not be reading this guide in the first place, I suggest you read this guide instead.
I will be going over all the basic settings in the setup one by one, so let’s get started.

Brake Bias:
The brake bias is best set at 50% for the best balance, when driving a rear wheel drive car it is better to place set it at 60%, leaning to the front.

Differentials:
The front differential should be always under 50%. The rear differential should be always over 50%. The centre differential should be put somewhere in between. When the track has more corners and bumbs (i.e. wales, greece) you can set the differentials more to the right, when the track has more high speed parts and is quiet smooth (i.e. finland, germany, pikes peak) they can be set more to the left.

Gear Ratios:
The gears should always be set on 50% or lower, for more acceleration, because on rally tracks you will not hit your top speed when set higher. Pikes peak is an exception when driving with slower cars. Set your gears as low as possible, as long as you don’t redline in your highest gear to much, it is fine, otherwise set them a notch higher and try again.

Suspension:
Your suspension should be set at least at 40%, but it is better to set them higher at 50 or even 60 percent. On tracks with a lot of bumbs (i.e. wales, greece) it is better to set the suspension a bit to the left or in the middle, on smooth tracks (i.e. finland, germany, pikes peak) it is better to set them further to the right. The rear suspension should always be either the same as the front or one tick further to the left.

Dampers:
Dampers are best set the same as your suspension, unless you know what you’re doing. but then again if you know what you’re doing you shouldn’t be reading this guide.
