Overview
Guide Short Version (Guide desc below):Go to C:Users USER AppDataRoamingThe Creative AssemblyShogun2scriptsOpen file: preferences.script.txtChange gfx_video_memory 0 to gfx_video_memory 1,000,000,000Done.This guide shows you how to remove the limits on what graphics settings you can select to because S2 will dumb down what graphics settings you have access to if you don’t have a good graphics card. For example, If S2 only let you use up to Anisotropic Filtering ×2, you can now use all the way to the max, AF ×16. You can get access to ULTRA UNIT SIZES and all the other good things you haven’t had before. It looks complicated but it’s not. You only need to do this once and it will work forever. You can do the same thing for other TW games, too.
How To Do It
1. Go to this folder:
C:Users[User Name]AppDataRoamingThe Creative AssemblyShogun2scripts
IMPORTANT: If you can’t find the folder APPDATA, you need to enable “Show Hidden Files.” Here’s how:
1. Go to : C:Users[User Name]
2. Click on the ORGANIZE button on the top menu.
3. In the dropdown menu, click FOLDER AND SEARCH OPTIONS.
4. Go to the VIEW tab of the menu that pops up.
5. In the checklist below, change the checkbox from “Don’t Show Hidden Files, Folders, or
Drives” to SHOW HIDDEN FILES, FOLDERS, AND DRIVES.
Now you can see the APPDATA Folder.
2. Open the document:
preferences.script.txt
(Using the path stated above)
You will get a long list of settings. These change the game’s settings from camera speed to texture detail.
3. Find the row that says:
gfx_video_memory 0; # gfx_video_memory <int>, Override available video memory (bytes) #
It’s like the 12th row down (near the top).
4. Change the number 0 in that row to -2000. Credit to 8-The-General-8.
This is the number of bytes (memory) the game can use (or something like that). It will then run with the highest settings available for use.
5. Save the file.
Ok that’s it thanks for reading.
