The Deadly Tower of Monsters – Survival Mode

Overview

A guide to help you with the “Survive” achievement.

Introduction

Hi everyone,

this is a guide for the “Survive” achievement.
At the time when this guide was written, the global achievement stats showed only 0.7% completion for the “Survive” achievement:

I hope this guide helps you to get the achievemet done!

I recomment to play the campaign first, before you try to get the achievement from survival mode. In the campaign you learn how to fight the different monsters and get a feeling for the game and the characters. Also, the survival mode has a highly increased difficulty compared to the campaign. Don’t give up after a few tries!

It would be best to try some weapon combinations yourself to see what works good for you.
Its important to master the “roll to jump to hover” movement as shown in this guide.

Feel free to comment if you have any further advice that you want to see in the guide.

Game on!

Gameplay Video

This Video shows the gameplay from wave 1 to 18:

Weapons + Powers

In the video I use the Frog Gun together with the “Energy Sword”.
I know there are other ways to complete the achievement, but for me it was the easiest and safest way:
The Frog Gun fires homing missiles, so it helps you to “kite” the enemy and avoid damage while shooting at the enemy from a distance.
The Energy Sword has great melee damage and the ability to reflect bullets.

The Chain Lightning is a very powerful item from start on. Fire it into groups of enemies and it will jump over, doing a lot of damage.

Start your first wave with the Robot and buy:
Raygun ($200) + Chain Lightning ($500)

Buy the following items as soon as you have the money:
(Make sure to heal your character first before you buy any new items)

Frog Gun ($3300)
Radioactive Frog Gun ($6200)

Energy Sword ($3500)
Red Photon Sword ($5000)
Ultraviolet Greatsword ($7000)

For Wave 16 switch to Scarlet and buy:
Energy Barrier ($1500)

Learn how to dodge and escape quickly

A good way to escape enemies or traps is to use a combination of Roll, Jump and Jetpack:

Press to Roll, when your Roll is halfway done press to Jump and press again to fly.
With this method your jetpack speed is way faster than usual.

Watch the following Video for an example:

These are the Controls on an Xbox-Controller:
– Use Special Power
– Melee Attack
– Roll / Parry
– Jump

Take a look at the controls if you don’t play with an Xbox Controller:

Roll through moving energy barriers

As shown in the video, you should try to “kite” the enemies while moving on the outer circle.
You can dodge the moving energy barriers by rolling through them with – Roll / Parry :

How to get the all the golden rings

Try to fly through all the golden rings at the beginning of each wave to get $400 per ring.

If you struggle to get the first ring, try to push you controller slightly in the opposite direction from where you jumped in, e.g.:

To jump in / drop in from the left you press “right”
Right after you start falling you press “left” to stabilize and successfully fly through the first ring.
