Go to Help & Options from the Title Screen

From here, double-click on any default and press whatever key to replace that default. DON’T FORGET TO SAVE & APPLY THESE DEFAULTS

Here’s what I’ve come up with to replace the default settings:

Movements:
WASD

Attack Commands:
Up Arrow: Heavy Attack
Left Arrow: Quick Attack
Right Arrow: Gun attack
Down Arrow: Block

Grenade (same as default): Enter

Other (useful):
1: Next Gun
2: Next Weapon

Other (not so useful – so I moved them off to the other end of the keyboard):
9: Previous Gun
0: Previous Weapon

This last one is very important, since it gives you a window of error when you’re pushing buttons at high speed, it’s as easy to make mistakes as any other time

  • I suggest if you have a favorite weapon to consider dedicating the Enter or Backspace key.
  • What I left out of this guide is what you re-arrange your other options to, like bringing up the pause menu. Make sure there’s a convenient key for pausing. Also, focus on getting your attack priorities in order, then see which keys are leftover for pause and bringing up the pause menu and such.

Epilogue

I do this with a lot of games whose default settings are…awkward to use on keyboards, and there isn’t an option on the menu screen to select keyboard versus gamepad OR the keyboard settings are rubbish.
One of the red flags in my opinion, is using the CTRL keybinding. Depending on what windowed and pause settings you use, you can make out-of-game command prompts pop up, which can get problematic if the game is not automatically put into idle mode when this happens.

  • I write simple guides reminding people where might be a good place to put their fingers on the keyboard.
