GWENT: The Witcher Card Game Guide

A guide to netdecking for GWENT: The Witcher Card Game

A guide to netdecking

Overview

The most common question in every TCG is where can I find premade decks? Everyone denies it but secretly there’s a netdecker in all of us.

Disclaimer

I am an experienced Gwent player with over 1000 hours and more than 2000 wins[www.playgwent.com], I don’t claim to be pro or anything like that, though I am constantly in pro rank and I’ve also played some tournaments. I have no affiliation with any of the websites/youtubers/streamers listed above but I do believe they are some of the best Gwent content creators and their decks/guides have helped me a lot over the years.

How to import a deck

Gwent has a fantastic feature that allows you to import decks directly into the game from the official website[www.playgwent.com] (more on that in the next section). Regardless of where you look for decks you will always end up here as this is where they are physically stored. Once you’ve find a deck click the button “IMPORT TO MY DECKS” and the next time you open the game the deck will be ready to use. There are however two important things to consider.

  • If Gwent is already running when you import the deck you will have to restart the game to see it.
  • If you are missing some cards, the website will ask you if you want to craft them (provided you have enough scrap). Be careful as a wrong click here can make you craft cards you don’t actually want so think twice!

Official Gwent Website

The game website itself actually has a section[www.playgwent.com] where you can find, share and quickly import any kind of deck, from serious meta deck to meme ones. Sadly the website is not curated by CDPR, it’s very difficult to look for specific decks and the good ones rarely get the upvotes they deserve, therefore I don’t recommend going directly there unless you know exactly where to look. There are in fact lots of pro players like TemerianSpecimen[www.playgwent.com] who regularly share and (most importantly) update their decks.

Community Websites

All Gwent communities regularly share a meta snapshot shortly after a patch featuring the most powerful decks, divided by tiers. They also open a thread on Gwent official https://www.reddit.com/r/gwent/ when a new snapshot is available.

The same websites above also regularly share budget and meme decks if that’s what you’re looking for.

There is also an English version of the meta snapshot featuring decks primarily prominent in the Chinese scene, it’s quite good, though only available on Gwent official https://www.reddit.com/r/gwent/.

Update

There’s a new website that aims to create a database with only curated video guides, check it out.

Youtube

Many pro players share deck guides on Youtube regularly, some of them are focused on meta decks, other on more meme and funny ones.

Twitch

As with other many games, streamers use Nightbot[nightbot.tv] to allow users to execute simple commands in their channel chat, if you happen to watch a Gwent streamer try typing !deck or !decks in the chat, that usually prints out the deck they are currently using and a list of their most recent decks.
