bit Dungeon II Guide

How to conquer the dungeons for bit Dungeon II

How to conquer the dungeons

Overview

In this guide I will first explain how all the stats work and the different playstyles you can choose. While they don’t differ from each other too much, there are some advantages other playstyles have over the rest.

Stats and how they work

-Basic Stats-
Strength:
Increases damage of strength based weapons (Axe,Great Axe,Spear,Sword,Great Sword,Short Sword) and increases chances to Cleave by 1% for every 5 points in the stat.
Dexterity:
Increases damage of dexterity based weapons (Dagger,Sword,Short Sword,Great Sword,Bow)
and increases chances to Crit by 1% for every 5 points in the stat.
Intelligence:
Increases damage of intelligence based weapons (Staff,Book) and increases chances to do a Magic Proc by 1% for every 5 points in the stat.
Spirit:
Increases damage of Spirit based weapons (Hammer) and increases chances to Smite by 1% for every 5 points in the stat.
Consitution:
Increases Health by 10 and Stamina by 25 per point (Items that give HP basically give you constitution)

-Extra stats and on hit effects-
Crit – Deal x3 damage
Super Crit – Deal x5 damage
Deathstrike – Deal 10x damage
Cleave – Deal 2x Damage in a small radius
Super Cleave – Deal 4x Damage in a small radius
Proc – Deal 2x magic damage on hit
Super Proc – (Needs Testing)
Smite – This one works in a weird way,but it seems to deal more damage against foes with higher HP
Super Smite – Just like smite, but more damage
Life Steal – Restore health on hit based on damage dealt
Buff – When activated on receiving damage, it maxes out your Armor and Magic Resist (75)
Berserk – When activated on receiving damage, increases attack speed.
Parry – (Needs Testing)
Stun – Prevents enemy action for a short duration
Block-Dodge-Phase – They work the same way,you just receive no damage when they proc.
Regen – Dodge an attack and regenerate health
Run Speed – Gain increased movement speed
Armor/Magic Resist – Decreases damage taken from Physical/Magical attacks

Item Rarity based on color

-Item rarity based on color-
White
Blue
Orange
Purple
Pink
Green
Red
Light Blue

-White and blue items are both common and drop very often, mostly from common enemies or bosses.

-Orange items are a bit more rare and mostly drop from chests. If you want to find them, you can do one of three things:
1.Find chests around the world (they are in fixed locations)
2.There is a room in Grief forest where you can open chests that give you golden items,at the cost of 32 black coins. If you have a lot of coins and could use some better items, then I highly recommend doing this.

3.There are secret rooms generated randomly around the world, which are pretty easy to spot once you know what they look like so always keep an eye out for those.Additionally, these rooms have a small chance to contain a purple or even a green item instead of an orange one.

-Purple items are really rare to just find randomly, but you will find quite a few of them on every run. There is also a room where you can open purple chests, but it costs 300 coins and is not advisable in the least.Unless you’re feeling lucky.
You can also get one after going through the Ice Maze and beating the Optional Boss.Just go to where there’s an icicle missing every single time and you will get to it (The same applies for the mountain maze)

-Pink items are the ones you get after beating a boss in each dungeon. They are almost the same as Purple items, but you are guaranteed to find them.

-Green items are extremely rare, and you’re not guaranteed to find one every time. There is a good chance you will find at least one or two during your playthrough, but it might be something you can’t use or it might just not be better than what you have in some cases.

-Red items are kind of different in how you find them. There’s only two ways:
1.Once you beat all the dungeons and go to where the portal is,you’ll get to the Dark World.Once you reach and complete it’s dungeon, you’ll be rewarded with a red chest.
2.Sometimes when you rest, you’ll encounter one of two NPC’s.You can choose to ignore them, which you shouldn’t really do unless you have died once and lost your souls, since they are rather dangerous. Both drop items out of their set,one of them will have Purple items, and the other will have Red ones. The Red items you can get from this guy can easily make you a whole lot stronger, and if you are lucky enough to get at least 3 armor pieces from him,you will have extra bonuses from completing the armor set (Having his cape also counts, unlike other armor sets).

-Finally,light blue items can only be found by beating the Boss once you take the soul of the lady back to her grave. The boss is actually optional, but also the only way to get light blue items. However, you shouldn’t fight him if you are not really strong or don’t have much defence, since he does a lot of damage. As if that wasn’t enough, you have to give up your extra life for him to appear, which means that if you die,it’s game over.If you do kill him, then you have a chance to earn the best items in the game.

Building your character and finishing the game

There are quite a few playstyles which depend upon picking a certain weapon, which depends upon a certain stat or set of stats. This means that you can’t switch from being a warrior with a sword to being a mage just because you found an amazing staff, unless it’s very early on.That’s because of how leveling up stats works.

Apart from the rooms which contain stat ups for you, you’ll be getting most of your stats from leveling up.While it sounds simple, there is a certain detail you need to know.Leveling up will always give you +1 Constitution, but the other stat increase you get depends upon the weapon you have in your main hand.Every weapon has a description, and at the bottom it says not only what stats increase its damage, but also what stats you’ll get when you level up.For example,a dagger is a pure Dexterity Weapon,so you’ll get +2 Dexterity every time you level up.On the other hand,a sword is a Strength/Dexterity hybrid,so you’ll get +1 Strength and +1 Dexterity instead.Due to this,it’s crucial that you stick to a certain type of weapon throughout the whole game.If you want some extra stats, there are also runes you can buy in the desert. It’s better if you get them once you are at a level of at least 20-25,since that’s when they start giving an amount of stats that is worth 16 coins.

After choosing what playstyle you want, you should start exploring the map without entering any dungeons. In Bit Dungeon 2,the enemis don’t scale with your level, instead they will become stronger every time you finish a dungeon.Items however do scale with your level.Go explore the whole map, find as many items as you can,and then start completing dungeons. This will also make the Purple item drops a higher level,so you can get even better items that you can stick with for the rest of the game.Once you get to the Dark World, which is unlocked by completing all the dungeons in all the areas (you can get there by going through the portal in the Dark Forest),one thing is for sure:
You’ll get a bit lost. Here is a map of the Dark world to help solve that:

You’ll have to fight a total of 2 bosses, the last one is optional.
Once you exit the dungeon, you’ll be back at the beginning with all your items, level and stats, which essential counts as a New Game +.

The order at which you enter the dungeons is up to you,but I recommend going to the black church first, since you can skip the mountain maze and get a couple chests too.

More on Items

As stated before, certain weapons scale with different stats, but that’s not the only thing that distinguishes them from each other. Each type of weapon has a special ability, which you can trigger by holding the block button.Unfortunately I am not certain as to what all of them do,but most of them seem to be some sort of buff. Here’s a short list of those that I know of.

Daggers/Blades

Become invisible for a short while, the next attack that breaks you out of stealth will deal extra damage.

Greatswords/Greataxes

Does a spinning attack around you that hits a total of three times

It’s unclear what the rest of them do,but maybe with some testing I’ll be able to update this list further.

Weapons aren’t the only ones that can be unique though. There are certain armor sets in the game, which will give you bonus stats once you have a matching set of armor, which requires you to have 3 items of the armor equipped. Some of them are pretty simple and not that hard to get, like the blue knight set. Some of the rarer ones however, can make you much more powerful, but are just too rare to count on getting. Here’s a list of the armor sets I know of (Will update as soon as I find anything new).

Last tips

1.Always pay attention to your stamina and health.Running out of stamina is the easiest way to die in this game, since you can’t block and you attack and move really slow.Do not stay in a fight if you are running out of stamina, just run away and wait for it to refill.

2.This game has a rather unusual mechanic. If you were to go about the game by simply going through all the dungeons right away, you’d think that enemies scale with your level, since it makes sense. That is not the case however.Instead, enemies will get stronger only when you complete a dungeon. This means that it’s a good idea to explore the whole map first before you start clearing dungeons. This will also mean you get higher level Pink Items from the dungeon chests.

If you want to know which builds are the best/worst,here is a small list:

-You can never go wrong with a shield.Just have any weapon (other than a staff) in your main hand and a shield in your off hand.

-Pure DEX can be the best build in the game if you are good at not dying. That’s because Crit is the best out of the 4 main on-hit effects you get from stats, and you can even choose to go with a bow which is even better. If you decide to go for this build,I highly recommend you get the Orange hood that gives you 50/60 Run speed. This is propably the best item for this, since run speed makes dodging projectiles easier, but that’s not all.For whatever reason, this hood seems to give extra DEX even when says it doesn’t give any (Not to mention you’ll be going from one dungeon to the next like a madman).

-Pure Spirit is propably the second worse build in the game for a good reason. The only way you will make this work,is if you farm the knights for their armor set early on and if you are really lucky and get really good items.

-Mage is definetely not high on the list, but after trying it out myself,it actually seems vialbe enough to be able to finish the game with. The only reason this build is not all that good is because it is really slow at killing bosses. If you feel like making it a little harder you can go for a mage, but I still don’t recommend it to rookies, since it’s still the worst build in the game.

There are also certain armor sets in this game, which requite you to have 3 items (Head,Chest,Boots) of that set.If you wanna know more about them, here is onother guide that has a list of many armor sets
