Overview
This guide will help you to obtain all achievements in the game. WARNING: Image heavy.
Introduction
It takes time to unlock everything in this game. I needed to re-explore the whole map several times to find an upgrade or something that I missed. I enjoyed it at first but doing this for several times is surely draining me out. I’m sure that there are other people who also feels this way so I decided to make a guide. I also hope that they will be more interested to discover the secrets in this game instead since there is already a guide for most collectibles.
Also, I know that most of you don’t remember the actual name of the upgrades. You can check the World section for that or assume which one it is from the description below:
Stardust – bomb
Chromatic Aberrator – hidden path revealer
Farewell Note – tiny blob
Marty’s Boot – yellow goo
Vile Ritual – summon big blob (Bolshie)
Transient – heart
Walkthrough
I recommend you to play the game in two playthroughs in order to make sense of everything. You can get all achievements in one run if you want (refer to Resolution achievement for more details) although some puzzles might confuse you at some point.
Try to explore everything by yourself before referring to this guide if you want to enjoy the game to its fullest. This game heavily focuses on exploration and you’ll miss the point of the game if you just resort to a walkthrough when you play this game for the first time. The game is pretty short if you know what to do (~3h) so you don’t have to worry about missing a lot of things if you’re playing the game blindly.
Anyway, if you still insist on using a walkthrough, carry on. If you want to play the game blindly, ignore this guide until you stuck at some point and/or miss some collectibles.
Here is the rough sketch of the map:
An effective run to retrieve all upgrades can be done through this route:
Cloud City > Desert of Giants > Light Forest > The Plains (get Chromatic Abberator) > Light Forest > Phantom Pit (get Stardust) > Desert of Giants (backtracking) > Cloud City (backtracking) > FallenCity (get Farewell Note and Vile Ritual) > Divided Sea (get Marty’s Boot) > The Garden (towards the ship/Hallow Valdez in highway/Rusty Dock) > Use Vile Ritual to Light Forest > The Plains
I had a trouble when I tried to solve a puzzle in King’s Labyrinth (FallenCity) in my second run when I tried to reach the Throne Room. Here’s the solution in case you need it.
Turn eye on, and then head to the area with intestine and hand. Turn them off and backtrack to eye room to turn it off. You should be able to backtrack to the area with intestine and hand from the southeast area from the eye room.
After you finish the “final” boss fight, you still can continue the game by picking up an upgrade in Light Forest and use it to Green in Light Forest entrance to get some clues. If you still have no clue as what to do, please refer to Transcendence achievement.
Achievements
– Story-Related Achievements
The Cradle
Find the Cradle
Reach The Plains. If this doesn’t grant, try inspecting one of the pictures.
Fear
Challenge Marty
Defeat Marty.
How to kill: Damage Marty (the lady), not Bolshie (the blob). Run when the Bolshie comes and attack Marty whenever you can. If you find her hard to beat just come back after you have more upgrades. I defeated her in 2 combos after i took most of the upgrades.
Loneliness
Challenge the Fallen King
Defeat the Fallen King.
How to kill: Damage the eyes that are blinking in the wall. A heart will show up after you hit them all. Hit the heart while avoiding the bullets. Repeat it 3 times. Watch out for “the ball monster that crash into you” too.
Hate
Challenge God
Defeat God.
How to kill: Damage the nose. He’ll spit out his right eye after you hit him a few times. Hit the eyeball. Repeat.
RGB
Complete your Mission
Defeat the “final” boss, Cyan Archon. You should meet him if you play it for the first time (unless if you “cheat” through the game and/or read some guides on how to skip it)
How to kill: I find it to be easier to kill him when you bait him into melee attack (just get close to him), attack him after dashing with melee attack, and dash again to run away from him in case he uses another melee attack. If you find him to be hard to beat, try taking more upgrades (I recommend to take Neper as it will give you more range).
For the second form, kill the boss (I prefer to use melee attack) while avoiding his attack. Note that you can hide behind the pillars. The boss will use an AoE attack if you finish him too long and you might even die in one hit if you don’t have enough HP, so make sure to burst him as fast as possible. I find it easier to kill it with Neper upgrade since I can just use the extra range to hit the boss from afar. Melee attack also has more damage than ranged attack so it works well in my favor.
Transcendence
Liberate all Bosses
Re-fight the boss without killing them. There is a hint that will be shown after you revive Green in Light Forest with Transient if you want to solve them yourself.
How to finish:
Marty: Enter one of the holes with Farewell Note and use Stardust on all of the breakable walls (there should be 3 in total). Head to the center area inside the hole afterwards.
Fallen King: Trigger the boss fight and stand on E6 for 33 seconds. If you don’t know where E6 is, there is a chess board 1 screen north from the boss for reference.
God: Destroy all anchors in the area with Stardusts.
There are 6 anchors in total:
– Next to Bolshie
– Near the stairs in the eastern corner
– Upstairs; in the area with a weird patterned floor
– Upstairs; hug the east “wall” in the area with a weird patterned floor to reach a secret area (refer to Secret Area section for a screenshot)
– Use Marty’s Boot from the LEFT side to reach the room in the center area
– Fight God after you use Marty’s Boot on him and enter his mouth
Ghost in the Machine
Purge the Parasite
Defeat all bosses. You should defeat most of the them if you have unlocked RGB achievement. The only boss left is Alibii Omega. Refer to Transcendence achievement on how to unlock him.
How to kill: Hit the clone that is either standing idly or using ranged attack (the first one is more preferred if you have less upgrades). DO NOT approach the melee ones since they will be immune. If you find it hard to beat the clones, try not to kill the clones so you can use Transient to restore your health.
You can heal yourself in the transition of the second fight (in the scene when you’re dreaming in black) with Transient.
For the second fight, the faces will be vulnerable if they don’t have pattern in their face. Dodge the attacks; the pattern in their heads show what attack they will use. You also can use Transient to replenish your health although you have to be careful with the boss’ attack.
If this still doesn’t grant, this means that you also need to defeat Blue in Light Forest. Head to Phantom Pit’s east exit to find him. He should be easier to beat than Alibii Omega. If he doesn’t show up, load your save to the point before you defeat Alibii Omega.
– World
World
Complete the Map
I also put legends for other things. You can check it for reference if you want to optimize your run or something.
In case you’re wondering, you can put Light Forest on the map by destroying the stones that are scaterred across the map.
– Lore
Lore
Collect all Stories
You can check the ones that you miss in one of the rooms in Library.
[imgur.com]. You can head north from there. Check the thing near the fluid (Atoller?).

– Other Achievements
Straight Goaler
Score a goal
FallenCity: head to the screen where the Unfunis (teleporter enemies that shoot green balls) are and head to the hole in the west area (you need to break some crates to see it). Hit the ball to the goal with your action button.
Straight Shooter
Hit the fish
Divided Sea: Head to the screen where you met Solace and Doughty for the second time. You’ll see a fish jumping over there. Hit it with your gun.
Omnomnom
Devour everything
After you get Vile Ritual, use it and eat every “food” that you can see on the tunnel. This will take a long time to finish.
Mass Murderer
Kill 200 enemies
Self-explanatory. Kill 200 enemies. If you have trouble to finish this, try to go inside Hallow Valdez and kill the Atollers.
Mass Murdered
Die 100 times
Self-explanatory. Get killed 100 times. You can farm this in final boss or King’s Labyrinth, in the place with red splurts where you have to go in a hole with Farewell Note.
Resolution
As few casualties as possible
This achievement is a bit tricky. I suggest you to not do this on your first playthrough to enjoy the game to its fullest.
– Finish the game without killing the bosses when you retrieve 3 memories and defeat the real final boss. Refer to Transcendence and Ghost in the Machine achievement for more details.
– Do not kill more than 10 enemies in your run.
– Do not trigger the fight with Blue in Light Forest (he’s in Phantom Pit’s east exit). If you plan to get this in your first playthrough, DON’T take S3 story before defeating the final boss. You still can take the Dynamic Range upgrade south of this room as long as you don’t go to the middle area.
If the above doesn’t work, try to not talk to Alibii in The Plains (defeat the final boss without Transient).
The most difficult part in this run is to get Marty’s Boot in Divided Sea. Basically, I went to the Atollers’ location to trigger them, used Farewell Note to kill myself, and came back and hugged the right wall (from the outer side) after I revived. Then, I used Chromatic Aberrator from the side to reveal the hidden path and lure the Atollers to the right side. I stormed the area with Farewell Note as fast as I can when I see an empty route to the south exit.
You also can turn the debug level in the log to 2 to track your kill count if needed. The config is located in C:Users<your username>AppDataRoamingGodotapp_userdataResolutiionconfig.cfg in windows and the log is located in the log folder of the same directory. You need to close the game to open the files though. Just load your last save whenever you kill more enemies than needed.
– Remembrance
Upgrades and Items (I refer it as “upgrades” in this guide) are marked as circle in the map. There will be another circle inside the circle if you haven’t take it. There are some that are not shown in the map though because they are located in secret areas. Please refer to “World” section for the precise location in the map.
I tried to list them in the order that is easier to take although the last few upgrades might be a bit abstract because you can get them in any order that you want.
– Descent (Phantom Pit entrance from Light Forest)
– Rusty Dock (follow the highway sign in Divided Sea)
– Eastern Hub (south exit from Desert of Giants)
Visit Hideout (the cave where you fought Cradle Watcher) afterwards and head southeast in the intersection leading to Light Forest.
– Chaos
You need to unlock the elevator in Light Forest in order to unlock Mr. Kiepchen. There are 3 symbols near the elevator that you have to activate.
These symbols are located in 3 locations:
1) Cloud City: in the room with elevators (look for the area with 3×3 grid).
2) Desert of Giants: in the room with Palm Trees (a hint to solve it lies near the Kitten marked with K1 location).
3) Divided Sea: in the empty room near highway entrance.
Here are the solution for each symbol:
1) You need to have all upgrades in your 3×3 grid (V button in keyboard) for this. Match the red square on the wall with your upgrade’s location. Do it several times until a Resolutiion icon pops up.
2) Trace 8 symbol in between the trees.
3) Head downstairs and press konami code: Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right Action-button Attack-button
Head downstairs after you reach the elevator. You’ll be able to collect Mr. Kiepchens now. There is also a 3 digit code in the northwest corner that can be used for several things (slightly modified from Forte‘s comment):
000 Resets modifications
180 Rotates in-game screen
248 Becomes physically bigger (but when you to exit the area through the ladder, the game bugs out and you have to quit)
314 Increases size of projectiles, both yours and enemies’
333 Translates Mr. Kiepchen dialogue
666 Bloody screen filter
710 Unlocks prisoner’s cell door in Light City
761 ???
884 Infinite stamina and resets the last code that you inputted
989 Monochrome screen filter
Win Button and Forte has listed all Mr. Kiepchen locations
[imgur.com] and
[imgur.com]. You also can check the map in World achievement section if you want to see everything in one image.
Credits to Win Button and Forte for all of this.
Kitten Locations
Mother will help you on your fight with Alibii Omega if you help her to find all of her kittens. She will also stop attacking you in Desert of Giants if you do that.
Secret Areas
Here are some secret areas that you might miss.
The boulder in the middle is passable; you can head east to go to the next screen.
“Hug” the wall to the east to reach a secret area with an anchor (refer to the building that I passed through for the starting location).
Afterwords
That’s it! It took some time to compile the list and find everything, but it’s completely worth it. If you’re interested in discovering the game’s secret, feel free to discuss or read in my other thread. i’m not sure if we already cover them all so feel free to tell us if you find more! 😉
