Families and the Family House

Overview

This guide helps you with your family issues.

The Family House

Families are a feature that allow players to team up in groups, socialize and complete tasks together. The feature is still being expanded, but this guide will tell you a bit about what’s there so far!

The Family House

To be able to join or found a family, you will need a Family House in your town:

The Family House can be purchased in the “Special Buildings” tab of your shop for 2,500 Coppers at level 8.

Joining or Founding a Family

You can join a family by clicking on your Family House.

Here, you can browse the list on the right to find a family that sounds like a good fit. And don’t worry, you can only see the families from your server. You can apply to any that sound interesting using the “Apply” button under the family’s description on the left:

If you apply to a family, it could take a while for the family to get around to accepting you, since they have to decide if they want to invite you.

If that’s all too much hassle, and you just want to join a family right away, you can also opt to join a random family – this is instant. To do that, just use the button on the top left:

And of course, you can always choose to found a family of your own:

This costs either 10,000 Coppers or 50 Gems. Founding a family will automatically make you the highest rank (Parent). Families start out with room for four members, but this can be expanded as your family grows and levels up.

Ranks

There are four different ranks in the family. Their significance is mainly organizational – all players can participate in activities equally!

A Parent can…

  • disband the family
  • assign ranks (only a parent can pass that rank on to someone else)
  • invite members
  • remove menbers
  • set a greeting message for the chat

An Eldest can…

  • assign ranks
  • invite members
  • remove menbers
  • set a greeting message for the chat

A Youngest can…

  • invite members
  • set a greeting message for the chat

A Housecat has no special rights, but can use the chat and participate in projects just like everyone else.

Administration

A Parent can change the family’s description using the button in the top right corner of the Overview page:

The description is what prospective family members see when they’re looking for a family to join. It’s a great place to introduce your family, share your mindset or set down expectations.

You can see an overview of your family’s members in the member tab:

Mousing over individual players will allow you to see their level and/or send them a message.

A Parent or Eldest can also change a member’s rank by clicking on the respective player’s rank badge.

Parents and Eldest can also remove players by clicking on the little red x button that appears when mousing over a player’s box:

You can manage new invitations by clicking on the button with the quill and envelope:

In the Applications window you can see any open applications and accept or decline them. You can also change your settings – for example, you can set a minimum level for applications, open your family to random applicants (these will automatically be accepted), or block applications altogether.

Projects

Projects are fun activities that your family can participate in together. There are several basic types:

  • Family Level – Allows your family to increase its level to unlock more projects
  • Member Slot – Allows you to unlock an additional member slot
  • Luxury Member Slot – Allows you to unlock an additional member slot (the only difference is that this one can only be unlocked with Gems).

Each project consists of several tasks. These can include donating certain products, playing certain hidden object games, or donating Gems (in the case of Luxury Member Slots). All tasks can also be expedited with Gems.

Participating in a task grants you Helper Points – these are a personal measure of how active you are in your family. The people that contribute the most to a project will also be declared Top Helpers. This doesn’t have any particular rewards – it’s just a sign of prestige.

You can compare yourself with other family members and players in the Statistics, which can be accessed from the main menu.

Chat

The Chat allows players to talk among themselves. Members that have a higher rank than Housecat can set a welcome message by clicking on this button:

The welcome message will always be displayed when a player first opens the chat. It’s a great place to wish people a nice day, or inform players about strategies for projects.
