Overview
Fix for black squares on textures for AMD cards (nVidia cards don’t seem to have this problem)
Introduction
I like Rage. It’s a neat little game. I played it non-stop when I bought it, but i got a problem when I started the game: the textures had hideous black squares that wouldn’t let me play the game. I noticed that this problem was more frequent when I enabled V-Sync. So I tried different solution, like enabling V-Sync through RadeonPro, but no luck. Then, after hours of searching, I found the fix. It wasn’t here on the Steam guides, and it’s not easily obtainable by Google searching, so I’m here to share the knowledge with everyone. This solution could be applied to iD Tech 5 games, but I can’t tell, because I don’t have Wolfenstein: The New Order (waiting to buy it, though). This is for AMD cards, because nVidia users don’t seem to have this problem, and I wouldn’t know how to fix anyway.

The Fix
The fix is really simple, just go to the Catalyst Control Panel, located at the taskbar and click on the ‘Gaming’ tab and click on ‘3D Application Setting’
Once you’re there, in the ‘Texture Filtering’ tab, turn On the ‘Surface Format Optimization’.
And you’re done! I hope this gets ride of people waisting hours on Google searching for a fix. Enjoy the game!
