Overview
Part Game Manual Part Guide to getting started!
Intro.
Hello and welcome to Krosmaster Arena.
Krosmaster Arena is a game that’s been around for several years but has just now made it’s way to Steam. It started in France and so it has a stronger player base in Europe than it does in North America. The purpose of this guide is to help get you started and to have a reference to come back and see a list of Powers, Rules, and Mechanics!
Krosmaster Arena is a freemium game.
Krosmaster Arena has 2 play modes:
Adventure Mode –
Adventure mode is a single player mode that I would compare to Final Fantasy Tactics, Ogre Battle, or Fire Emblem. It is a mode where you take a team of heroes (referred to as Krosmasters from this point on) to face enemy teams and sometimes challenges.
Arena Mode –
Arena mode is your PVP mode. Arena matches play similar to a turn based 1v1 MOBA. You will build a team of 3-8 Krosmasters whose total levels can not exceed 12. There you can face off 1v1 against other players in 1 of 3 ways. Tournament, Ranked, or Challenge.
In both play modes you will earn Kroz and Scraps. You can use the Kroz and Scraps that you find to unlock new Krosmasters to build teams with. Kroz allows you to buy random heroes which you can select from a specific season or across all seasons. Scraps let you buy specific Krosmasters.
You can also earn Scraps by recycling duplicate Krosmasters or Krosmasters that you don’t want.
*Note: Some Krosmasters can appear 2 or 3 times on your team, if you do the auto recycle it will recycle each Krosmaster down to the maximum number that can appear on a team.
Finally you can get Kroz and Scraps from achievements. The achievements will show up in Steam but if you click on the Trophy symbol on the main screen you can open an achievements menu. You have to click the achievement that you have completed in order to claim the rewards. There are achievements for Adventure Mode, Arena Mode, as well as achievements for “Team Management”.
Getting Started
The first thing that will happen when you start up Krosmaster Arena is a Tutorial that it will force you to complete before you can play.
The Tutorial is helpful to learn the mechanics of the game but moreso you get 1 new Krosmaster for every stage of the tutorial that you complete. This is the probably the fastest you will earn Krosmasters throughout the game so it’s fairly rewarding.
I advise new players to move from the Tutorial into Adventure Mode. The reason for this is that your owned Krosmasters have no impact on your success or failure in Adventure Mode since all of the available Krosmasters are automatically provided for you. Additionally playing as each of these figures will give you a better understanding of their abilities, mechanics, strengths, and limitations. Plus if you 100% every stage of adventure mode you will be able to buy enough Krosmasters to make 1 or 2 strong teams for Arena Mode. Don’t forget to also collect your Kroz and Scraps from the achievements you complete while playing Adventure Mode.
Many of you are going to have that competitive nature and desire to play in the Arena as soon as possible. I can’t say that I blame you but let me just give you a couple of quick things to do before you step foot in the arena.
#1 Spend all your Kroz in the “Shop” button, buy blind boxes from S1 and S2 preferably as they have a lot of strong universal characters. S3 characters work best with other S3 teams generally speaking.
#2 Once your Kroz has been spent, spend all your Scraps in the “My Teams” button. Spending your Kroz first lets you figure out which characters you get by random chance and luck so now you can surgically buy the remainder of your team without getting duplicates or based on building around a character that you got from the blind boxes.
#3 If you’re still under “My Teams” build 1 or 2 alternate teams to use in Arena mode selecting from all the figures that you own so far. (see team building section for more details and suggestions) Additionally, you can select from 5 free trial Krosmasters every week as part of your team building. There is generally 1-2 strong meta game Krosmasters in the trial group every week.
Now you’re prepared to play in the Arena. If you wanted to conserve your Kroz and Scraps and you skipped steps 1 – 3 just keep in mind that you will be struggling to succeed in the Arena. Many of you are already aware of this and prepared to grind out the early stages to both Learn the meta teams and unlock more rewards but I just wanted to caution anyone considering this route.
Team Building
Rules for Team Building:
Minimum of 3 Krosmasters
Maximum of 8 Krosmasters
Total Levels may not exceed 12
A team may not have more than 1 Krosmaster with the “Boss” subtype as shown under their name (indicated below with (B))
Certain Krosmasters may appear on a team 1, 2, or 3 times indicated by hovering over the i – Info bubble for that Krosmaster
Certain Krosmasters may not appear on a team together. This is determined if their names are identical in front of any hyphens. I.E. Yugo, Yugo – Young King, and Yugo – Unleashed may not be present on the same team together, or any combination thereof. Each one is a different variation of “Yugo” (the name before the hyphen).
When you drag a Krosmaster to your team they will be placed from left to right in initiative order (indicated by the purple lightning bolt). In the occurance that 2 or more Krosmasters have the same initiative a special icon of 2 arrows will appear between them. Clicking that icon will swap them in the initiative order. The sum of all Krosmasters initiatives on your team becomes your Team Initiative and is used to determine who goes first between you and your opponent.
The Krosmasters level is indicated by the Yellow Star. In the team building page you can build multiple teams and each one will show you #/12 Stars to indicate how much room you have left on your team. Additionally the default order for your available Krosmasters is by Level Ascending.
General Guidelines to Team Building:
A good rule of thumb for team building is to make what is known as a “Tent-Pole” team. What this means is that you have 1 strong Krosmaster that is level 5 or 6 and then a bunch of weak Krosmasters that are level 1 and 2. The metaphor is that the high level Krosmaster is a tent pole that supports your whole team. The concept here is to have your level 5 or 6 Krosmaster be the main threat to attacking your opponents Krosmasters. The level 1s and 2s are there to try and support your level 5 or 6 in various ways. This could include healing, mobilization, buffing, etc… Additionally your level 1s and 2s will be used to move around and pick up Kama (in match currency) and shop for upgrades for your level 5/6. Obviously when playing this team you generally want to keep your lower level Krosmasters in the back field and move your high level Krosmaster up to the center or along a side. Not all great teams are “Tent-Pole” teams obviously but by far and away the greatest # of combinations for strong teams fall into this category. Most of the level 6 Krosmasters are very strong when supported by 4-6 low level Krosmasters and there are several strong level 5 Krosmasters as well.

Example Team Builds
To further help some people get into the game I thought I would add a section of example team builds. Also, if you are buying krozboxes you can look in this section to get some ideas on how to use the characters that you’ve unlocked randomly, or what characters to seek out with recycled scrap parts.
For starters go to this web site for up to date information since they’re constantly posting regional, national, and world championship team rosters.
[link]Ok, now that is out of the way here are some teams. Whenver possible I will group them together when they have similar core concepts. I will list the team in initiative order which is only important when 2 or more share the same initiative. Finally I will indicate if a character is a boss (limited to 1 per team) with the following: (B).
