Overview
WARNING: please use this Steam guide with caution as I can’t say for sure if the method in this guide will affect mouse and/or keyboard functionality (it’s very unlikely to occur but do consider this prior to trying it). A much better method can be found in the guide linked below (even though it’s a guide for a different game – it still works) and I encourage you to use my guide only as a last resort: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=759543948This problem is simply an issue because of how the game was ported to PC (Condemned: Criminal Origins, F.E.A.R., Prototype 1 and Prototype 2 also have the same problem). It has only been experienced by me in the singleplayer portion of this game but it could very well affect multiplayer users too.
The method
To address this issue, you’ll need to do the following:
1. Right-click “My Computer” and choose “Manage”.
2. From there, go to “Device Manager” and in the new window double-click “Human Interface Devices”.
3. Now right-click and disable only the “HID-compliant device” entries. If this doesn’t work (after testing how your game works), disable the “HID-compliant consumer control device” entries.
After you’ve done this your keyboard and mouse SHOULD still work but the extra features associated with them won’t work.
NOTE: When you’ve finished this game and don’t want to play it anymore, simply reverse the changes and re-enable those entries in Device Manager as most other games are not affected by this issue.
