Guide to Help People Beat the Inquisitor Fight
Beating the Inquisitor
So, you got to the Inquisitor fight, and he tore your party a new one, right? Well, if you played this game in a straight-forward manner, he probably got a lot of outrageous counterattacks, did more damage than you could heal, and killed you in a criminally unfair way.
Not to worry. This game’s systems are inspired by those of The Last Remnant, a game which few have played, and fewer play well. Using skills learned from other games might not serve you well here, and that’s not your fault. That said, what do we do?
Well, first off, I’ll give two variations of this strategy: one for those who got the second Basic Mender’s Kit from killing the thugs in the previous section, and one for those who did not.
For those who did, the fight is relatively simple: have Sigvard attack from range (if you’ve been using rapier and shield on him, I recommend giving him the staff now, as he doesn’t need the defense), give the Basic Mender’s kits to Ashya (so she can switch between that and cleansing burning from the tank) and then one of either Morten or Reginald, and set up the last one to be able to dish out a lot of damage, while withstanding it as well. From there, have the three party members spam heals while the tank tanks and Sigvard spams spells until he dies. I personally used Morten to be the party tank/melee DPS, but I could see a properly setup Reginald performing just as well, if not better.
For those who didn’t, the fight is largely the same, but with some slightly more complex mechanics involved. In this example, we’ll only have two healers, Ren and Ashya, and we’ll be utilizing the game’s disengage mechanic to be able to switch between tanks as the fight goes on. Initially, only attack with one of Morten or Reginald in melee, while spamming Disengage with the other. Have the girls heal, and Sigvard do his thing. Then, when the primary tank begins getting low, have that character disengage while commanding the other one to engage the Inquisitor. This should give your party enough time to kill the Inquisitor before he can wear through both of your tanks and healers, especially seeing as the second tank will have accumulated enough AP to spam 2 AP attacks (Switchback and Piercing Lunge, for example) consistently for what is likely to be the remainder of the fight.
Either way, I hope this guide helps you to get through this difficult fight and move on to enjoy the rest of the game. Thanks for reading, and feel free to let me know if there’s any other consistent strategies you’ve found for the benefit of us all.
