Restoring Japanese Audio in the Credits Song – One Click Solution

Overview

An easy and quick way to restore original japanese audio for credits sequence – which is in English even if you pick Japanese audio in settings!Based on the original guide by bobmcjr101

What is this for?

Even though you can select your desired audio language in the game, this does not apply to the ending credits as well as the dance mode unlocked after beating the game, which is instead based on your system language.
As detailed in the original guide by bobmcjr101, it is possible to force the game to use the Japanese files even when you are using English-language system.

However, the guide is somewhat technical and has lots of steps so I took the liberty of compiling everything into a quick and simple one-click solution that patches the required files for you. And best of all – you don’t need to download any big files because all the necessary files are already in the game, all that is required is a bit of reshuffling.

How to apply the patch

  1. Download the patch files[s000.tinyupload.com]
  2. Open the game folder by right-clicking the game in your Steam library -> Properties… -> Local Files -> Browse…
  3. Extract the downloaded file to the root game folder. DO NOT make an extra folder! The files should be extracted to the same folder as AI_TheSomniumFiles.exe
  4. (Optional) Backup the files affected by the patch (see below), though you can always restore them by verifying steam cache.
  5. Double-click original_patch.bat to run the patch and wait for it to finish
  6. (Optional) Verify the replaced files by running the included md5 checksum file using any available checksum utility.

What does this replace exactly? (Spoilers)

For a proper technical explanation of the file replacement, refer to the original guide
As for my patch files, the zip file merely contains the byte difference between the original files and applies the difference directly.
The files affected are:

  • AI The Somnium FilesAI_TheSomniumFiles_DataStreamingAssetsAssetBundlesStandaloneWindows64audio
  • D:SteamLibrarysteamappscommonAI The Somnium FilesAI_TheSomniumFiles_DataStreamingAssetsAssetBundlesStandaloneWindows64movievideo_video_e6-wrap79_m10_00_en_2k_60

The audio file replaces the audio during the dance mode unlocked after beating the game
The video file replaces the credits sequence.
What is not replaced is the grand finale dance during accessed from the dance mode as I was not able to get it properly working even following the instructions of the original patch – resulting in just black screen. However, it is the same as the ending credits sequence and I did not want to fiddle with the files any more than I had to, it is quite tedious.
If you want this replacement as well, feel free to follow the original guide.

All I did was make a patch file based on the changes from this guide.
