Overview
Random facts on random world war II battleships (and like every other type of ship but thats besides the point)(12/27/20, this guide is pretty bad, i forgot why i even made this, chances are you probably know 80% of these facts, nonetheless enjoy!)
The facts!
fact 1: the USS texas is one of the last surviving dreadnoughts, being launched in 1912, it is a museum ship now.
fact 2: the bismarck class had two ships, the bismarck (duh!) and the tirpitz.
fact 3: the USS chester was in charge of escorting the rms carpathia to new york after picking up survivors from the titanic
fact 4: the SM U-20 torpedoed the rms lusitania, the sinking was one of the two causes of the United states to join world war 1.
fact 5: the german cruiser prinz eugen also saw service with the united states after world war 2, it was used for nuclear tests and was sunk.
fact 6: (this is a pretty well known fact, but i’ll still put it in) The Japanese lost around 4 carriers at the battle of midway, whilst the United states lost 1, the United states where able to replace the carrier that was sunk within a while, the Japanese could not.
fact 7: (another obvious one) the Yamato is the largest battleship ever built, it was destroyed but i forgot how
fact 8: battleships are considered obsolete, the last being phased out in the 90s
fact 9: most of the russian fleet was destroyed during the russo-japanese war.
fact 10: the largest navy in the world is the american navy
