Overview

A 100% completion walkthrough for Ori and the Will of the Wisps featuring a series of video guides. Includes a full map indexed with timecodes for every collectible, challenge and Spirit Well in the game.

Map Index: Find Timecodes For Every Collectible [IN PROGRESS]

This map indicates the video number and timecode for every collectible and challenge in the game. (It also includes first activations of Spirit Wells.) Use it to find exactly where in this walkthrough to look for information on specific items, challenges or areas.

The number above a map icon indicates the video number (e.g., “P5” refers to the Part 5 video). The numbers below the icon are the timecode (mm:ss format). For collectibles, the timecode indicates:

  • the exact collection time for that collectible (for context/lead-up, back up the video as needed); or,
  • the start of the NPC interaction that awards you the collectible.

Currently includes timecodes for parts 1-10. The rest will be added ASAP!

Walkthrough Notes

  • This walkthrough features a highly optimized route through the game. The route was chosen with the following goals in mind:
    • Visit each area no more than twice (a first pass and a completion pass)
    • Complete side quests as efficiently as possible, with minimal warping (including the Hand to Hand quest)
  • Each video (with some exceptions) will focus on a specific area of the map, completing available quests and grabbing available collectibles (Spirit Light, Gorlek Ore, Life/Energy Cell Fragments, etc.) before moving on.
    • Not everything is collectable immediately. Some backtracking is required to 100% the game.
    • If a section is labelled “First Pass” or has a completion percentage lower than 100%, it means that the area cannot be 100% explored without abilities gained later in the game. A later video will show 100% completion of the area.
  • This guide will not make use of optional movement-enhancing abilities such as Triple Jump or Water Breath. All movement in these videos can be done with the baseline abilities acquired from Trees.
    • There may be other abilities purchased (e.g., Spirit Smash) or acquired early (e.g., Burrow) in order to optimize completion of some areas. It will be clearly indicated when these are required and how/where to get them.

UPDATE 5.15.2020

  • As of Patch 2, area completion percentage is tied to collectibles and challenges only and no longer takes map exploration into account. This may result in different percentage counts than what’s shown at the end of the “first pass” videos.

Part 1: Prologue & Intro Cinematic

There’s not much to do in the prologue; just some walking and lots of cinematics.

Part 2: Inkwater Marsh First Pass (73% Completion)

At the completion of this section, Inkwater Marsh will be about 73% explored and you will have acquired/completed the following:

  • Inkwater Marsh map
  • Abilities from four Trees (Spirit Edge, Double Jump, Regenerate, Spirit Arc)
  • Four Spirit Shards (Magnet, Sticky, Resilience, Reckless)
  • “A Little Braver” side quest (awards a Gorlek Ore)
  • Inkwater Marsh Combat Shrine 1 (awards Shard Slot Upgrade)
  • All other collectibles currently available in the area (some can’t be collected without abilities gained later in the game)

Part 3: Kwolok’s Hollow First Pass (89% Completion)

At the completion of this section, Kwolok’s Hollow will be about 89% explored and you will have acquired/completed the following:

  • Kwolok’s Hollow map
  • Guardian of the Marsh quest
  • Abilities from two Trees (Dash, Bash)
  • Two Spirit Shards (Quickshot, Splinter)
  • Voice of the Forest wisp
  • Begun the “Hand to Hand” side quest (progressed/completed in later videos)
  • The Kwolok’s Hollow Spirit Trial (awards 1000 Spirit Light)
  • All other collectibles currently available in the area (some can’t be collected without abilities gained later in the game)

The remainder (100% completion) of Kwolok’s Hollow is featured in Part 9.

Part 4: The Wellspring First Pass (97% Completion)

You can almost 100% the Wellspring on your first pass. However, there is one collectible that can’t be reached without an ability gained later in the game.

The video starts with a brief walk through Wellspring Glades (we will ignore the collectibles here for now) and proceeds into the Wellspring. At the completion of this section, the Wellspring will be about 97% explored and you will have acquired/completed the following:

  • The Wellspring map
  • Grapple ability, gained from the lone Tree in this area
  • Two Spirit Shards (Life Harvest, Thorn)
  • A mysterious seed
  • Progressed the “Hand to Hand” side quest twice (traded the Map/Drawing for a Small Backpack, then traded that for a Herb Pouch)
  • The Wellspring Spirit Trial (awards 1000 Spirit Light)
  • All other collectibles currently available in the area (some can’t be collected without abilities gained later in the game)

The remainder (100% completion) of the Wellspring is featured in an upcoming video.

Part 5: Rebuilding & Regrowing the Glades – Phase 1 (Wellspring Glades 72% Completion)

In this section, we take a break from the main quest to make a pass through Wellspring Glades, starting the Rebuilding the Glades and Regrowing the Glades quests and grabbing as many collectibles as possible. At the completion of this section, Wellspring Glades will be about 72% explored and you will have acquired/completed the following:

  • One Spirit Shard (Arcing)
  • Begun the “Rebuilding the Glades”, “Regrowing the Glades”, “The Silent Map” and “Family Reunion” side quests (progressed/completed in later videos)
  • Wellspring Glades Combat Shrine (awards Shard Slot Upgrade)
  • All other collectibles currently available in the area (some can’t be collected without abilities gained later in the game)

Phase 2 of the Rebuilding/Regrowing quests and further exploration of the Wellspring Glades is featured in an upcoming video.

Part 6: Silent Woods First Pass (75% Completion) + Crossing the Feeding Grounds

In this video, we depart Wellspring Glades and travel to Kwolok’s Hollow to talk to Kwolok (we will ignore collectibles here for now). Then, we progress on to the Silent Woods. At the completion of this section, the Silent Woods will be about 75% explored and you will have acquired/completed the following:

  • The Tree Keeper side quest (requires warping back to Wellspring Glades to talk to Tuley; awards a tree seed)
  • The Silent Woods Combat Shrine (awards Shard Slot Upgrade)
  • Passing safely through the Feeding Grounds
  • All other collectibles currently available in the area (some can’t be collected without abilities gained later in the game)

The remainder (100% completion) of the Silent Woods is featured in an upcoming video.

Part 7: Burrow & Spirit Smash (Required Abilities)

This video takes a break from collectibles and exploration to show how to get two abilities you’ll need going forward. After your first pass through the Silent Woods (Part 6 of this walkthrough), it’s possible to start completing some areas 100% if you have Spirit Smash (purchased from Opher in Wellspring Glades) and Burrow (acquired from a tree in Windswept Wastes). This video shows how to obtain both (all collectibles will be ignored for now).

Part 8: Baur’s Reach 100%

Starting from the Spirit Well in Wellspring Glades, this video features 100% completion of Baur’s Reach with all collectibles and challenges acquired, including:

  • Baur’s Reach map
  • Light Burst ability, gained from the lone Tree in this area
  • Three Spirit Shards (Fracture, Lifeforce & Catalyst)
  • A mysterious seed
  • Memory of the Forest wisp
  • Progressing the “Hand to Hand” side quest twice (trading the Herb Pouch for some Spicy Soup, and trading that for a Comfy Hat)
  • The Baur’s Reach Spirit Trial (awards 1000 Spirit Light)
  • All other collectibles including Gorlek Ore, Life Cell Fragments and Energy Cell Fragments

NOTE: 100% completion of Baur’s Reach requires Burrow and Spirit Smash (see Part 7). Without these abilities, you can still acquire the Memory of the Forest wisp but will not be able to 100% the area.

Part 9: Kwolok’s Hollow 100%

Starting from the Baur’s Reach overhang above Wellspring Glades, this video features 100% completion of Kwolok’s Hollow. Most of the Hollow was explored in Part 3, but some collectibles were not available due to the toxic water and lack of certain abilities. I’ve chosen to complete the area on my way to Mouldwood Depths (Part 10), since I now have the necessary abilities and need to pass through Kwolok’s Hollow anyway.

In order to 100% Kwolok’s hollow, you first need to complete the main quest in the Wellspring (cleans the water – see Part 4) and acquire the Light Burst ability from Baur’s Reach (Part 8). (Technically, you’re supposed to have Swim Dash from Luma Pools as well, but there’s a way to complete the area without it.)

Part 10: Mouldwood Depths 100%

This video features 100% completion of Mouldwood Depths with all collectibles and challenges acquired, including:

  • Mouldwood Depths map
  • Flash ability, gained from the lone Tree in this area
  • One Spirit Shard (Spirit Surge)
  • A mysterious seed
  • Eyes of the Forest wisp
  • Progressing the “Hand to Hand” side quest twice (warping back to Wellspring Glades to trade the hat for a lantern, then trading that for Mouldwood Silk in Mouldwood Depths)
  • The Mouldwood Depths Spirit Trial (awards 1000 Spirit Light)
  • The Mouldwood Depths Combat Shrine (awards Shard Slot Upgrade)
  • All other collectibles including Gorlek Ore, Life Cell Fragments, Energy Cell Fragments and Spirit Light
