Sid Meier’s Civilization® VI Guide

How to disable the intro logos for Sid Meier's Civilization VI

How to disable the intro logos

Overview

This is a simple guide on how to disable the intro movie that plays the 2K and Firaxis logos. You can disable the main intro video in the game options but you can’t disable or skip the logos video the same way. This will allow you to disable the logos video too, doing both allows you to get to the main menu and start a game a lot quicker.

The new simple method

The old method is now obsolete but I’ll leave it up incase it is required again after future patches.

No downloading and replacing of any files is required anymore. All you have to do now is delete the logos.bk2 and LOGO_2KFiraxis.bk2 files from

If however in future (after another patch maybe) you find the game is crashing without a logos.bk2 file like it used to then see the old method below.

The old method

This simply replaces the logo video that plays with a 1 second blank screen.

  • Download this logos.bk2 file:
    OneDrive[1drv.ms]

  • Go to the following folder:
    Windows:

In Finder, go to Go > Go To Folder… and enter the above. If it gives you trouble, start at ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/ and start typing — tab will pop up a list of options to complete. It might refuse to complete “Civ6.app”, so just type it and append a /. (Once you’re inside the .app bundle you can just browse normally anyway.)

  • Replace the logos.bk2 file in here with the one you downloaded (always backup the original though just in case).
  • That’s it, you’re done.
  • NOTE: The recent patch seems to have replaced the logos.bk2 file with the original one. Simply copying this one back to the folder will once again get rid of the logos. I’m hoping they don’t do that with every patch.
