Overview
On this guide I will teach you the basics of keeping your prisoners as calm as possible and happy.Also a few simple tips of how to improve safety.
The basics
Ok, so we all come to a point where we want a 500 prisoner cell capacity. However after we pass the capacity of 100 our prisoners start to get angry and start to riot, so here is a simple guide to keep your prisoners a little happier.
Ok so the first thing you need to understand is having 100 prisoners and 200 guards is a bad idea, prisoners hate having tons of guards around them so find out a simple number for example I tend to use a simple ratio of 1 guard to 5 prisoners 5:1, that keeps my prisoners pretty happy (do remember you can have more to guard certain rooms and open the gates to allow vehicle access).
Step 2. To maximise your prison safety place metal detectors around certain areas, DO NOT place them at the entrance of your prison or nothing will get in… no contraband = very angry prisoners, place metal detectors at very dangerous areas, in basic terms make sure alchohol and drugs stay out while small tools get in (don’t allow drugs and alchohol because prisoners will usually die, only tools you should allow is knives, lighters, cellphones and a few of your choice).
ADVANTAGE, set food times to 7-9, 12-2 and 5-6.Make sure to fill a few slots on the regime with work and freetime because prisoners who don’t have work will use it as freetime but the people who work will also need a few freetime slots.
And finally don’t forget, use your deployment schedule (unlocked by the chief) to unlock most zones because the thing that irratates prisoners the most is wanting to get somewere and the doors are locked.

NEW IMPORTANT INFO: since recent updates prisoners now get irratated easily in the cafeteria, to fix this all you have to do is build a giant cafeteria, the bigger the better, I personally recommend around over 20×20.
