Creating and sharing levels for Briquid

Creating and sharing levels

Overview

A quick guide that explains how to use the level editor and share your creations.

Introduction

Briquid has an easy to use level editor that enables you to create your own levels and share them in the Workshop with the world.

To open the level editor, click on the button with the pencil and drawer icon in the main menu. Then click the empty level button in the top left of the yellow screen and you’re ready to go!

The Basics

Designing a Briquid level is a matter of picking a material and then filling the canvas with it. But before you start, remember these two essential rules:

  • Each level needs to have the same amount of water and reservoir cells.
  • You need to solve your level before you can upload and share it.

The four buttons in the top left have different functions:
1 – Create a new level
2 – Adjust the size of a level
3 – Save your level
4 – Enable/disable grid view

The next six buttons are used the most:
5 – Erase
6 – Brick
7 – Metal
8 – Water
9 – Forbidden zone
10- Reservoir

The next two buttons are easy to understand:
11: Undo action
12: Redo action

Below that, you can adjust the number of moves and playtest your level.

On the right side, the vertical bar displays if the amount of water and reservoir cells are in balance. This bar has to be green before you can play or share your level.

The last buttons are in the bottom right corner, and are used for gravity. Click on them to make gravity directions available, and to decide which gravity direction is active when the level starts (when the button is yellow).

Final Tips

  • Hotkeys are handy! You can see them between brackets when you hover your mouse over a button.
  • Press and hold the shift button to fill or delete a big area in one time
  • Press and hold the shift and ctrl buttons to fill a big area excluding existing cells
  • Don’t forget to name your level!

If you’re happy with your design, make sure to save it and then return to the menu. This is where you can upload your level to the Workshop.

Good luck, we’re looking forward to playing your levels!
