Overview
Alan Wake is a beautiful game. Here’s how to access the free-flight camera to get the right angles for your screenshots.*NOTE* Requires a controller!
Enabling the free-cam
1. In your Steam library, find Alan Wake. Right click on the game and select “properties”.
2. In “General”, select “set launch options”
3. In the box, type “-freecamera” (without the quotation marks).
Using the free-cam in-game
Using a controller, press the right thumbstick during gameplay to enter free-cam mode.
CONTROLS:
LS: move around
RS: rotate camera
LT: slow movement speed
RT: fast movement speed
LB/RB: move up/down
X/B: cycles through regular camera speed
Tips
- You can disable the HUD in the video options.
- Alan Wake was originally designed as an open world game, therefore you can use the free camera to find areas of the world that should not be currently rendered.
- For example, during the scene in the first episode where you’re on the ferry, you can use the free-cam to look around the town as well as explore the surrounding woods and going far enough will result in you finding areas from the late-game such as the dam, the Anderson farm and Cauldron Lake Lodge.
