In this very straight forward and simple guide, you’ll learn how to easily and quickly fix the character crash issue.
Fixing KOTOR
For many people that have bought KOTOR in the Christmas Steam sale, they’ll have noticed that if they’re running on newer hardware and a newer OS (it is Windows 7, 8 and 10 that seems to have the issue) that after they make their character the game will crash when they start moving around in game (sometimes it will crash when the openining cutscene pops up).
There are many guides out there that are telling people to boot the game up into compatibility mode under Windows XP (this rarely works) and for those that are running Windows 10, there isn’t an option anyway to run any program under compatibility mode for Windows XP.
Other suggestions involve players having to go deep into the Steam directory for their game and start changing settings on how the game should load up. Whilst there are some people that would feel fully comfortable with this, there are a lot of people that would rather not have to go through this rigmarole to get the game running.
To that end, I’ve made up a very short video (the length of it is less than a minute) that will allow you to properly play the game. I’m not saying it’ll help prevent all the different types of crashes the game may encounter since it is a buggy game, however it will get you past this major issue. And let’s face it, even the newest games randomly crash, including GTA V that spent ages being devoloped for on PC.
