Overview
Easy way to run the game if you have multiple monitors, or don’t want to change your default resolution (widescreen monitor users like myself).
Getting the game to start
This has been covered in other guides, find your game location which should be located here
<drive letter>:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonSoldiers Heroes of World War 2
- Find Soldiers.exe right click, go to properties
- choose compatibility and then Windows XP
Getting the game to run without messing with the resolution
You need DXWnd for this you can get it here at sourceforge[sourceforge.net]
Launch DXWnd as administrator since SHOWW2 has to launch using admin for Windows XP compatibility settings.
Once DXWnd has launched go to edit and Add
Use the following options, there are a few things to note here however.
Paste YOUR path to the game and EXE in path and launch, so like this for both,
C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonSoldiers Heroes of World War 2Soldiers.exe
Replace C: with the drive your game is installed on.
Make sure Run in Window is checked
The X and Y arent too important since you can move the window around. However make sure W and H are 1920 and 1080, this is the highest resolution the game allows.
Then go to the Video tab and choose thin frame under window style, this will allow you to grab and move the window. Also it’s a good idea to set Initial resolution to 1920×1080. The rest of the options aren’t necessary to change.
Now close the settings window and right click the SHOWW2 Icon in DXWnd and choose run. Enjoy the game it should be working perfectly for you!
