Overview
How to edit rosters without external database editing. (No Microsoft Access or MDB Viewer Plus)
NBA Mods/Player Faces
This guide will be using NBA teams and real player faces from the Realworld Mod and the Pro Photo Pack, I will not go over how to do that in this guide.
For more information on how to do that visit these links:

Customize Franchises
If you only want to change your teams’ names, logos, jerseys, courts, etc. then go to Database Editing from the Main Menu.
Select however many teams you’re going to play with in the league (Default is 30).
From there, select whichever team you want and upload images, select jersey colors, and so on until you’re satisfied. This is the default look with the Realworld Mod that I linked above.
New League
Now, to actually edit your roster you need to create a league first.
From the main menu go to New League.
The two gamemodes you’ll want to enter to do this are Sandbox mode and Universe mode. I’ll go through it in Sandbox mode, it doesn’t make much of a difference for this.
Go through the league settings like you would normally, you can skip everything and head straight to finalize league if you only want to edit the roster.
Commissioner’s Office
Once you’re in the game, go to the upper-right corner and select your coach name, then click on Commissioner. If you’re in Universe Mode then it should already be on Commissioner.
Afterwards, click on the briefcase icon (Your Office) to enter the Commissioner’s Office.
In the Commissioner’s Office you get to customize the entire league, including the roster. Before you make any changes make sure to back up your settings by clicking Export Database. A green notification bar will appear in the upper right and tell you where your database is located (Same directory as the game install).
Now, to change player stats, appearances, names, etc. select Edit/Add Players.
You can add players here but to customize already existing players select whichever team you want to change, then select the player.
Change whatever you want and click on Save Changes when you’re finished. Repeat for any other players you want to change.
Once you’re finished, go back to the Commissioner’s Office and Export to Database again. The next time you want to play with this roster, click Import From Database below.
Trading Players
To trade players between teams, click on the trading icon.
Choose the two teams you want to include in the trade and choose the green “Make Trade” button instead of the trade offer button on the right.
As commissioner you don’t have to worry about cap size or probability of the teams agreeing to the trade like you would as a GM.
