Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments – Complete achievement guide

Overview

A complete achievement guide for Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments. This guide is not 100% spoiler-free, but we tried to put what we could under the spoiler tag 🙂

Story related achievements

These are achievements you can’t miss while playing the game. They consist of six achievements for completing each case + two unmissable achievements + achievement for completing the game. For all of them it does not matter if you get all the right solutions or not. However, if you are in for collecting all the achievements in one run, I recommend you check the other parts of this guide before you start the game.

Aye Aye, Captain!
Finish Black Peter case.

Off the Rails!
Finish Train case.

Blood and Ice
Finish Blood Bath case.

Raider of the Tombs
Retrieve the Golden Knife from the ancient temple of Mithras.
Getting this achievement requires completing the puzzle at the end of Blood Bath case. You can find the step-by-step solution in the spoiler tags bellow.

  1. Approach closed gate in middle of the temple, turn around and walk through the gate on your left. Then use the lever there to open gate at the other side.
  2. Switch to Watson, go through the freshly opened gate and pull the lever.
  3. Switch back to Holmes. Release the lever and walk through the gate on your left. There are three levers on the wall, you need to use the right one.
  4. Switch to Watson again. Release the lever and walk through the newly opened gate at your right. There should be two levers on the wall. Use the one on the left.
  5. Switch back to Holmes. Release the lever he is holding and get in the center of the temple.
  6. Switch back to Watson again. Release the lever and use the right one (should open the large gate blocking your way to the statue).
  7. Switch to Holmes one more time. Walk through the opened gate and take the knife from the statue.

Vox populi, vox Dei
Finish Abbey Grange case.

A Deadly Flower
Finish Kew Gardens case.

Guilty Brotherhood
Finish Half Moon case.

Haunted House
Catch the thieves at Notting Hill Manor.
!This achievement can be actually missed if you finish the case too early! At the end of the sixth case you will be asked to join few guys “visiting” the Manor. Holmes does decide to check the Manor earlier and set few traps.
Use chair in the kitchen to block the doors. Carpet laying on the floor can be used to cover opened hatch. Beads upstairs can block the stairs. Rope in the stove is used to connect chandelier and hammer.

Their crimes, Your punishments
Complete the game.

Moral choice achievements

Four achievements obtained only by chosing specific options at the end of corresponding cases. Unfortunately, these choices together don’t lead you to the “A Man of Character” achievement. Luckily, there is at least always the chance to play these options and after being asked if you agree with this choice just go back and change it.

Bruiser
Beat Cairn in a fight.
First case; You need following evidence to reach required conclusion:
Stolen valuable papers, Looking for papers, Neligan’s innocence, Harmless Flirting, Unexplained presence, Hurtley’s innocence, Feat of strength, Pouch proves guilt
When asked to “Condemn” or “Absolve” Cairn, you have to select the “Condemn” option. Cairn later arives and after finding out the truth starts a fight. Everything you have to do is to press the appearing letters fast enough.

Sharpshooter
Disarm Mexican by shooting the gun from his hand.
Second case; You need following evidence to reach required conclusion:
Has been sunk, Sabotage, Missed Doncaster, Mexican trap, Vanished earlier
When asked to “Blind Justice” or “Political game”, you have to select the “Blind Justice” option. During the scene Mexican is going to pull out a gun. Everything you have to do is to fastly enough hit the red cycle around his hand, which is going to disarm him. Be careful to not click the red cycle around his head!*

Hold your Herrings, Captain!
Save Crocker from committing suicide.
Fourth case; You need following evidence to reach required conclusion:
Captain Crocker, Crocker statement
When asked to “Arrest” or “Absolve” Crocker, you have to select the “Arrest” option. A cutscene begins, Crocker rises and reaches for a knife. Then it is again about quickly enough tapping the right letters on keyboard.*

Suicide is Not an Option!
Prevent Miss White from suicide.
Fifth case; You need following evidence to reach required conclusion:
Martyn’s timeline, White’s timeline
When asked to “Condemn” or “Absolve” White, you have to select the “Absolve” option. In the cutscene Miss White pulls out a poison to kill herself. You have to “step forward” three times and after swtiched to Watson’s sight, then you have to quickly click the cycle around her hand and that will make her drop the poison.*

* (it should be possible to trigger the quick time event despite whatever moral choice you made, but I haven’t tried it out personally)

Puzzle achievements

There are six achievements gained for completing puzzles without skipping them/failing them. Most of them can be found on the internet, so I won’t be writting them all down in this guide.

I Never Fail
Finish 10 Dialogue QTEs without a failure.
If you manage to not fail any of the first dialogues, this achievement can be already obtained in the second case. After failing some, the count does reset again so you can get this achievement even later after failing once, don’t worry.

Keen Observer
Finish 15 “Character Observations” without skipping.
You can even skip some of them, important is to finish fifteen of them without that until you reach the end of the game.

Child’s Play!
Finish 25 mini games and puzzles without skipping.

Elementary!
Finish 35 mini games and puzzles without skipping.

My Grey Matters
Finish 45 mini games and puzzles without skipping.

A Methodical Man
Gather 26 Character Portraits.
During all six cases there are exactly 26 characters you can talk to and make a portrait of them. There are five people in the first case, seven in the second case, four in the third case, three in the fourth case, four in the fifth case and three in the sixth case.

Walkthrough achievements

Six achievements obtainable only by playing the whole game (the last case or at the end of the game). All of them require you to take some actions in all the previous cases.

A Complex Mind
Reach all possible conclusions in the game.
To reach all the conculusions you always need to gather all the evidence in the case (the game itself is going to tell you when there is no more evidence in the current case). You do not have to launch all of them, just find them in your deductions and click on them.

  • First case; Four Conclusions (Neligan is Guilty, Liam Hurtley is Guilty, Two Murderers, Cairns is Guilty)
  • Second case; Four Conclusions (Robinson is a Swindler, Chileans Stole the Prototype, Mexicans sealed in the Chileans, Mexicans drowned Chileans)
  • Third case; Six Conclusions (Pitkin is the Murderer, Garrow is the Murederer, Blinkhorn is the Murderer) – Each of those has two versions. One with silver knife and one with ice knife.
  • Fourth case; Three Conclusions (Randalls are Guilty, Domestic Accident, Captain Crocker is the Murderer)
  • Fifth case; Six Conclusions (Deadly Syndicate are the Killers, Albert Dunne is the Killer, Miss Margaret White is the murderer – !You have to find those three before the next three ones, you will not be able to do so later! – Martyn Hamisch is the Killer, There is no Accomplice, Albert is the Accomplice, Miss White is the Accomplice)
  • Sixth case; Three Conclusions (Leighton Chapman Committed Double Murder because of Personnal Motive, Leighton Chapman Commited Double Murder because of Robbery, Foley’s vengeance)

An Omnivorous Reader
Receive 3 messages from those whom you condemned or absolved.
Can be achieved already in third case. Just check the fireplace in Baker Street at the start of every case where the letters are.

Dog-fancier
Interact with Toby in every case.
Toby is laying by the window back in Baker Street all the time. I personally recommend to interact with him at the begining of every case, because you are always starting there (Goes especially for the second case where there is only chance to interact with him in the begining since rest of the case takes place outside the city!)

A Man of Character
Receive maximum personality ranking.
To get maximum personality ranking you need to finish all the cases with the same judgement – “Condemn” or “Absolve”. It does not matter which one you chose, as long as they are all the same. In second case “Blind Justice” stands for “Condemn” and “Political Game” stands for “Absolve”. This achievement will unlock with finishing the last case (if you made a wrong choice, you can always replay just the case where you did so).

I Never Guess
Reach 6 correct conclusions for all 6 cases.
Each case has more conclusions, but only one of them is the right one. Get this achievement by chosing the right one in every case.
First case: Cairns is guilty, Second case: Mexicans drowned Chileans, Third case: Blinkhorn (Ice knife), Fourth case: The Captain is the killer, Fifth case: White is an accomplice, Sixth case: Foley’s vengeance

Perfectionist
Collect all possible in-game achievements.
Unlocks together with the last achievement you unlock. That is all, thank you for reading this guide! Since this is first guide we ever made, all tips are welcomed :3
