Mafia: Definitive Edition Guide

Make Mafia More Colourful! for Mafia: Definitive Edition

Make Mafia More Colourful!

Overview

Sick of the brownish tone Mafia 3 and Mafia Remaster offer? This can be easily fixed, with a little upgrade called ReShade. I will talk you through the process, which is very easy, and what kind of things you need to set up, if you want to have a look like mine.

1. What is ReShade?

Honestly, I dont know. It was made by much more competent people and I cant tell you what whichcraft works here, but it makes Mafia look much better.

Direct comparison between on and off.

2. Install ReShade

Just download it from the official site. Google it and you find it very quickly.
ReShade Download.

Once you downloaded the exe, click on it.
Simply go through the installation and select the Mafia exe, once asked. Everything else should be set up by the program itself.
You should also install every option you can, this allows for much more interesting styles.
Once you are done with this, congratulations. ReShade is now installed.

3. Set Up

Okay, now start Mafia.

You will be greeted with the tut of ReShade. Once you created your own Preset, we can finally begin to add the stuff you need to archive a look I have in my game. Obviously, you can do whatever you want. I just wanted to have the game a tad more brighter, more popping colours and get rid of some of the brown. Its not perfect, but good enough for me and for my eyes.

(Here again no ReShade)

ReShade comes with many options, and for my “look”, you only need a few and work on some perimeters.

Firstly, add these:

CAS
FakeHDR
Technicolor2
Pirate_Vibrance

I. CAS
Contrast Ad. to 0
Sharpening Intensity to 1.000

II. FakeHDR
Power: 1.304
Radius 1: 0.793
Radius 2: 0.870

III. Technicolor2
I havent changed the colour one
Brightness: 0.967
Saturation: 0.833
Strenght: 0.363

IV. Pirate Vibrance
Luma Mode
0.097

4. Enjoy

And you are done! I really like this preset, since its not too much, but brings out the more colourfull side of LH as well as sharpens the image a tad. Of course, do what ever you like! Be creative!

Here is the vanilla game look again:

Here are some more examples of my preset;

Bonus

Well, I could have uploaded my preset for you to use, but now you are equipped with the knowledge to play around with the options yourself and create the exact look you want to have. You can also now change the look of every game you install ReShade on, like Mafia 3.
Have fun!
