‘Tell Me Why’ FULL Walkthrough, Collectibles, TL:DR section

Overview

A full guide to the currently released content for ‘Tell Me Why’. This includes a walkthrough of all the actions necessary to progress, as well as the optional collectables for the game. Minimal spoilers throughout, so you can make your own choices and use the guide without worrying about spoiling the story! TL:DR sections for those of you who just want a run down of actions with no detail or pictures. Comments and suggestions are welcome and appreciated 🙂

Starting off

WASD to move

Left click to interact

ESC to bring up the menu for settings, exiting and to see the current objective

Tab to pull up the Book of Goblins (once it’s obtained)

SPACE to focus on your Bond (hold down and use left click to interact)

Any obtained information or objects will appear as icons in the top right corner, and cannot be interacted with.

I recommend playing through at your own pace, exploring the areas and conversations. The more you interact, the more information you’ll get. Dialogue options and choices will affect the overall bond between the twins, so don’t be reluctant to interact. I’ll only be going over the key information to progress in the game.

I’ll be captioning each section here based on the episodes of each game chapter’s episodes. Some are shorter than others, but I’ll be including them all! Enjoy the guide, and thanks for reading 🙂

Chapter One – Homecoming (E1-3)

Episode One – Orphans

CUTSCENE

Episode Two – Long Time No See

Have a look around Aly’s room, and explore a little. To get the keys for the old house, look in the box underneath her bed. When you’re done, leave the room.

Now have a look around Tyler’s room. Grab the goblin figurine from the left side of the desk, and leave the room when you’re done.

Reunited with your twin, enjoy the conversation and select whatever options you think are best.

Episode Three – The Crossing

Take a look around. There is some optional dialogue for the conversation points if you notice some of the points of interest and interact in time, so keep a look out. It’s not essential to the story, but does help.

Make your choice with Aly about whether to accept the ring.

On the ferry, all you need to do is wait. Feel free to explore the area, examine objects and talk to either Aly or Mr Gershwin. You can look overboard in a few places on deck and go through the notice board, Alex’s truck bed and some of the signage.

Eventually, you’ll dock. You can either opt to leave by getting in the car as soon as the ferry is close enough, or Aly will usher you into the car if you’re out of time.

Chapter One – Homecoming (E4-6)

Episode Four – A Big Wooden House

Next objective – get into the house. Better start with the front door. No luck? Head around to the right hand side of the house past the compost heap and look down at the boards below the decking at the rear of the house. Examine the planks.

Find a screwdriver by looking through the window of the barn. Head to the side door on the right, and try it to find there’s no key. Look through the window and examine the screwdriver to continue.

Memories are a funny thing… Hold the Spacebar down when you experience this aura to activate the Bond mechanic. The audio will get louder as you approach the area where the bond is strongest. Use your left click to focus on the bond to view the memory while holding down Spacebar.

Find the next memory in front of the barn and focus on it to find the location of the key. Follow the memory to the left side of the barn.

The Silent frog is the one in the centre. You should find the key underneath.

Use the key on the side door to the barn and go in to grab the screwdriver, and examine any items you might want to look at.

Use the screwdriver back on the planks leading to the crawl space.

Now simply follow the path through the underside of the house. Crouch under the first beam straight ahead. Listening to Aly, the Voice will give you some hints if you need them.

Going right at the first junction with the Dragon straight ahead will lead you to the first of the optional collectables; the Mad Hunter.

(You can view these collectables in the game menu by hitting Esc.)

Once you have it, back track yourself and take the left path like Aly suggested. Next, take the path to the right by the Crafty Goblins sign.

Keep to your right, go past the sign for the Mad Hunter and follow the path to find the hatch into the house.

Once inside the house, feel free to explore; there’s an optional memory in the front room near the fireplace, and plenty to examine throughout the place; some optional conversations too.

Head to the bedroom by going up the stairs. You can go through the corridor to the right, or go forwards through the kitchen to the right. Head into the twins’ bedroom.

Examine what you want, and then head to the right-hand desk where you can interact with the box to find the Book of Goblins.

If you want to flip through the stories, go for it.

Head back downstairs to Mary-Ann’s room (pink door with the drawings just by the front door, if you didn’t see it before).

You can choose to solve the puzzle, or break open the door.

To solve the puzzle, the solution is Moose, Bear, Pelican .

Inside, you can find the Princess collectable statuette to the right hand side of the bed. Once you have it and have examined everything you want to look at, you can interact with the desk drawer to find Tyler’s diary.

Once you have found the diary you can’t go back through the rest of the room, so make sure you examine everything you want to look at beforehand.

Episode Five – Bad Haircut

CUTSCENE

Episode Six – Uninvited

To progress here, go through your chat with Aly and then examine the diary. Feel free to look into the scenery and chat.

Talk to Aly to move on.

Go through whatever dialogue you want here with Sam.

To leave the house when you’re done, you’ll need to speak with Aly using the Voice by holding spacebar.

Then select “We should go” and then “He’s too wasted to help us”.

Chapter One – Homecoming (E7-9)

Episode Seven – Rashomon

Introduce Michael to Tyler – just walk over and get it started off. Give whatever answers you’d like in the dialogue.

There are some optional memories to view before going into the store if you like. The playpark dome has one, and there’s another outside the restaurant sign.

Head into the store and speak with Tom.

Time to gather supplies. You’ll need to choose from the candles, cleaning supplies and a drink and snack. Ty will prompt you for some of them as you walk around and he explores. There are a lot of little dialogue choices and conversations here too.

You can speak with Michael if you like as well.

To move on, make sure you have everything on the grocery list and head back to Tom at the counter.

During the conversation with Tessa, walk to the far end of the store to uncover some more memories.

Follow the memory around the store, then view Tyler’s memory of the same event.

Choose which memory you want to believe.

Find Tessa in the office and talk with her. Select the option to ask about her and Mary-Ann fighting.

Head back out to speak with Tom and ask about the one song they used to play.

When the song is playing, you can use the bond to find more memories of Mary-Ann and Tessa. There are three of them in total, looping back around to the office where you should be able to find evidence to confront Tessa.

Check the cabinet; you’ll find the notebook from 2004 which you can flick through to find when Mary-Ann stopped paying her debts. There’s also the Pious Pelican collectable which you can grab too.

Next, check the computer. You’ll want to select the email from the Traditional Family Alliance.

Speak again with Tessa and you can confront her with whatever dialogue options you see fit. There are several outcomes, so choose what you think feels best to get the answers.

Episode Eight – To Serve and Protect

Head into the station’s back office and explore if you like. There is a memory available by the cell door. You can head upstairs to Eddy’s office and knock the door.

He’ll hand you the keys and you agree to grab a coffee while he finishes up.

Go back downstairs and you’ll have a few optional memories to explore at the bottom of the stairs and at the station entrance.

Head through the locked door down the corridor to head to the break room. You can explore the locker room here too if you would like, and observe Dee’s locker.

.

Make coffee in the kitchen and you can continue. Eventually you will look through the window of the interrogration room, and your Bond will activate. View the memory and then go with Tyler into the room if you like.

Inside the room, you can find the Ice King Collectable in the far right back corner behind the cabinet. There is also a memory to interact with in here.

You can now leave and head upstairs to find Eddy. There’s another memory in the break room on the bench if you want to see it. You can push the trolley away from the main door to the break room for easy access, or you can simply backtrack through the break room to the other entrance where you came in. If you don’t move the trolley then Tyler will before you go upstairs.

Talk through the dialogue with Eddy and pick whatever options you think are appropriate. To move on, you’ll need to ask him at least one question and then thank him for the answer.

Episode Nine – Blood Oath

Watch through the cutscene and enjoy the Chapter’s end. Enjoy!

Next episode for release on the 3rd September 2020.
