Client-side Use

The game only allows one skin for characters, so you have to choose which skin.

NOTE: BE SURE TO HAVE APPROPRIATE CHARACTERS UNLOCKED EITHER VIA ACHIEVEMENTS OR PURCHASING DLC IF YOU PLAN ON CHOOSING THE CHARACTER.

You can still install the pack and see when others use the characters.

Go to your …killingfloorsystem folder

TIP: mine is C:Program Files (x86)SteamSteamAppscommonKillingFloorsystem

and find all the downloaded .upl’s.

You should find it like this:

CHARACTER’S_DEFAULT.upl CHARACTER’S_RESKIN.upl

As the default comes first alphabetically, whenever the character is called, that is the skin it uses.

To have it default to another skin, just rename the files so your desired skin comes first alphabetically. Or just delete the ones you don’t want.

Alphabetic Example:

CHARACTER’S_A_RESKIN.upl CHARACTER’S_DEFAULT.upl

Why it’s done this way:

Most clientside reskins involve replacing the default .upl with a modified version. It’s an unforgiving practice if backups are not made. [Reverifying game cache will bring them back]. Instead of replacing the character’s .upl and be SOL for not making a backup, this method allows the user to switch between skins. Also, as some packs contain retextures of the same character, this allows the user to decide which skin to use.

Edit: It all comes down to preference. If you don’t want to rename files, you can just delete files you don’t want. Or you can keep the files and prioritize by renaming.

Server-side Use

After installing Serverperks, open up Serverperks.ini and add the custom character codes.

Run the mutator within the game and characters should be selectable

Sample Serverperk Code:
CustomCharacters=Dude

Downloads

In case the steam workshop is not working or you want the .zip of the files, an alternative download will be listed.

Files you are downloading:
.utx files

Texture files and typically take up the most space

.u files

.upl files

clientside information for what textures to load
