Overview
This is a guide on how to mod MGSV:GZ so you could mod the game to suit you’re needs!please note that all the files and methods are not my own, including that all credit goes to xelectrowolfx but I am just explaining it in a better way so other people could understand. (with all my troubles trying to get it to work)
introduction
I am not here to pose as the original modder nor offend him/her, and that i wish to help people understand what the original modding post ment. I am also not an english speaker so bare with me 😀
(this guide will be updated as more and more scripts and mods are found)
ORIGINAL DISCUSSION
MGSV:GZ [MODDING][MGSV MODDING TOOL v1.0.0][MOD INSTRUCTIONS]
[link]
The Modding Tool
Unfortunately, to download this tool you need a Nexus account or to even manually mod it for that matter.
first, register for [link] then go to [link] and download the file (go to files under the screenshots) and click the latest file.
then after waiting for it to finish you get these files (yes i have a alien ware OS so it may look weird
now unzip the file into a regular windows file and place it in C:Program Files (x86)SteamSteamAppscommonMetal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes
go into MGSV_MODDING_TOOL and cut MGSV Mdding Tool.exe and paste it to C:Program Files (x86)SteamSteamAppscommonMetal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes
and voila, its done!
it should look like this but don’t mind pathlist_ps3 and the MGSV EZTOOLS, FPK QAR tool, DATA_01/2, unpack and repack
Using the modding tool
For this part my alien ware totally ****s it up, makes it look weird, so try to look at the files yourself and compare with me.
IF THE APPLICATION SAYS IT CANNOT LOCATE A FILE/PATH THEN GO BACK AND READ THE OTHER SECTION
lets start with weapon mods.
first off check the stuff that is shown on my picture, then press unpack at the top right section and select the things you want (press starting weps and wep textures to use weapons of ur choice). once ur done press apply weapon settings (right to the checkable box) then press save settings.
YOU MUST SAVE BOTH SETTINGS!!!!!
for the other stuff you do the same.
if there is any errors that usually doesnt mean anything, HOWEVER you must be sure if u saved both settings.
Manually Modding/Editing (Setting Up)
first off you need these files
Notepad++
[link]
xelectrowolfx’ EZTools pack
[link]
(credit to him)
1st step. unzip the EZTools pack and open do this first and bring unpack.bat and repack.bat to
C:Program Files (x86)SteamSteamAppscommonMetal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes
2nd step. You know the Modding tool we downloaded earlier? as I previously said, you need to download that. go to tools and COPY AND PASTE QAR.bat and (recommended) FPK.bat
REMEMBER TO ALSO COPY AND PASTE pathlist_ps3 OR IT WILL NOT WORK
you are done setting it up! it should look like this
but don’t leave the .zip files as you don’t need to to.
Encrypting Files and Moddifying Them
We are gonna start with a easy one and that is switching characters. just note that if you wish to switch characters i would recommend you use the modding tool as for the reason that you can easily change characters and/or have more choices.
1. open up unpack.bat and wait for the files encrypt. remember to always unpack the file before you mod and repack right after editing the files or the mods won’t save.
2. after you encrypt the files you should see DATA_01/02 as an openable folder, open that and navigate to C:Program Files (x86)SteamSteamAppscommonMetal Gear Solid Ground Zeroesdata_02TppScriptsCharactersPlayer and you will see a file called playertypetable.lua
open that with Notepad++ and you will see some stuff. these are the characters you will see:
MGS1 Snake “PLTypeMgs1”
Ninja (Grey Fox) “PLTypeNinja”
Raiden “PLTypeRaiden”
you are going swap the PLType for the one you want.
EX: look around to see “PLTypeSneakingSuit” and you also see PLTypeRaiden
its gonna be like this
“PLTypeSneakingSuit”=======”PLTypeRaiden”
————————————–>
“PLTypeRaiden”============”PLTypeSneakingSuit
3. Save you’re changes (CTRL+S) and close the notepad. Now go back to C:Program Files (x86)SteamSteamAppscommonMetal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes
and open repack. wait for the changes to save and open you’re game!
(if you didn’t get the TPP file in DATA_02 then you didn’t bring pathlist_ps3 from the QAR tool file to you’re metal gear files)

There’s new improved version of putting custom music into game, so I’ll keep this guide as a guide to file conversion. Consider this something like part 1 of putting music in game all together.

Okay so here’s what I know so far about weapon damage tables. Anyone care to chime in with any info they have?
[ true, [WEAPON NAME], [PHYSICAL DAMAGE], [?*], [?*], [PSYCHE DAMAGE], [?*], [“PSYCHE DAMAGE TYPE”], [?], [?], [“ENEMY REACTION”], [“INJURY TYPE”], “PT_ALL”, [?], [?] ,
Psyche Damage types can be set to:
“PSY_SLEEP” (tranq dart)
“PSY_FAINT” (Knock out)
“PSY_STUN” (Punch)
Enemy Reaction can be set to:
DAM_DEFAULT
DAM_TRANQ
DAM_BULLET
DAM_BLAST
DAM_SHOTGUN
DAM_STRIKE
DAM_SLASH
DAM_FLAME
DAM_STUN
DAM_SMOKE
*I think that those first few question marks are variable damage amounts, but without some kind of output to show me how much damage each bullet is doing I can’t really prove that.
