Class Specific Masteries
Thor/Warrior
Furious Charge – Charge through 50 enemies
This mastery is extremely easy to aquire, shouldn’t require much help. Just play the warrior and rush through enemies, Leap Attack is an extremely important ability so get this mastery quickly!
Whirling Death – Kill 12000 enemies with Spin Attack
This mastery, along with many other kill based ones can be done alongside a mastery i will talk about later (see Caverns of Mag’Ash, Grunt Slayer.)
Hardened Champion – Take 15000 damage as the Warrior
There is no simple way to get this one. You may, if possible: somehow get a second player to join your group, (could even be a second controller plugged in) and start a game on NORMAL difficulty since you have an infinite amount of rez coins. Enter The Burning Temple of Dur, chapter 3. Either go left or right to the first blade trap, the rest should be obvious. Just stand on it and constantly rez and die. Rinse and repeat until you have taken enough cumulative damage.
Thyra/Valkyrie
Eye for an Eye – Block 10 Projectiles with Shield Block
This is probably the easiest mastery to get in the entire game, simply block 10 projectiles of any kind. Once again, projectile reflection is very important so get this mastery quick!
The Captain’s Special – Kill 12000 enemies with Shield Throw
This mastery, along with many other kill based ones can be done alongside a mastery i will talk about later (see Caverns of Mag’Ash, Grunt Slayer.)
Heir of Valhalla – Take 12000 Damage as the Valkyrie
There is no simple way to get this one. You may, if possible: somehow get a second player to join your group, (could even be a second controller plugged in) and start a game on NORMAL difficulty since you have an infinite amount of rez coins. Enter The Burning Temple of Dur, chapter 3. Either go left or right to the first blade trap, the rest should be obvious. Just stand on it and constantly rez and die. Rinse and repeat until you have taken enough cumulative damage.
Merlin/Wizard
Accomplished Master – Take 10000 damage as the Wizard
There is no simple way to get this one. You may, if possible: somehow get a second player to join your group, (could even be a second controller plugged in) and start a game on NORMAL difficulty since you have an infinite amount of rez coins. Enter The Burning Temple of Dur, chapter 3. Either go left or right to the first blade trap, the rest should be obvious. Just stand on it and constantly rez and die. Rinse and repeat until you have taken enough cumulative damage.
Flamewalker/Frostweaver/Stormcaller – Kill 8000 enemies with corresponding elements
These masteries, along with many other kill based ones can be done alongside a mastery i will talk about later (see Caverns of Mag’Ash, Grunt Slayer.)
Questor/Elf
Precision Strike – Kill 50 enemies with Bomb or Sniper Shot
Another extremely simple mastery to aquire. Grab a swarm of enemies and lead them into your bombs.
Bombardier – Kill 12000 enemies with Bomb/Bomb Shot
This mastery, along with many other kill based ones can be done alongside a mastery i will talk about later (see Caverns of Mag’Ash, Grunt Slayer.)
Mysteries of the Elf-Folk – Take 10000 damage as the Elf
There is no simple way to get this one. You may, if possible: somehow get a second player to join your group, (could even be a second controller plugged in) and start a game on NORMAL difficulty since you have an infinite amount of rez coins. Enter The Burning Temple of Dur, chapter 3. Either go left or right to the first blade trap, the rest should be obvious. Just stand on it and constantly rez and die. Rinse and repeat until you have taken enough cumulative damage.
Loot & Food
As Luck Would Have It… – Destroy 800 Props
This mastery should be accomplished easily, a very fast way to destroy props is to run Crypts of the Sun King chapter 1, just destroy every prop you see (props include barrels, crates, torches, pots etc.)
Formidable Fortune – Destroy 5000 Props
Sort of weird that they would make a second mastery of the same objective just much larger. However just do the same thing i explained in As Luck Would Have It…
Dropper of Crowns – Drop the Crown 200 times
There isn’t really a way to grind this one. If you ever notice “Hey, i got 2-6 rez coins and the Crown and i know that i dont need these extra coins.” you can simply take the hits and die (obviously most efficient if you only take 1 hit per crown possession.)
Eating off the Floor – Destroy the Food 500 times
This mastery can take a while to get. The case may be that you prefer unfair which has no food to break, or that you need the food for health because you are a beginner and take frequent damage. Honestly, all you can do for this one is break food when you have health to spare (obviously not obtainable on unfair so just play hard.) You can also grind this one by running a high food density level such as Crypts of the Sun King, chapter 1 and focus on food destruction, leave once you get to the death section of the level. (about 30 food per run) Safe ways to break food for each class are as follows: Warrior, Spin Attacks mid range circle at the end. Valkyrie, anything will do, if throw hits the table just try to hit it melee. Wizard, Right-Click, Space (default) is your lightning punch which is extremely effective. Elf, it can be a pain with elf to break food, if all else fails just Bomb Shot the food.
Heroic Hunger – Eat 6000 health worth of food
This mastery can be a little lengthy to get if you are a class that has to focus on not taking any damage such as Wizard or Elf. However if you ever find that there is extra food, just eat it because it adds to this mastery’s total even if it doesn’t heal you.
Mass Killing Tips/Hints (IMPORTANT)
Note: All of the mass slaying 15000 masteries (EXCLUDING SKELETONS, see Crypts of the Sun King, Skeleton Slayer) require certain tactics to complete most efficiently that i will list off here.
Warrior – Use Spin Attack as frequently as possible and kite monster around in a wide arc circle. Rinse and repeat. (DO NOT let them corner you or it may well be the last thing you do.)
Valkyrie – Use Shield throw as often as possible and if you are cornered just shield block untill you can lunge out of there. You may also just use the lunge ability repeatedly in a zig-zag shape.
Wizard – You can do a multitude of different things with the wizard, you must always stay mobile and kite them, never taking damage. What i recommend for mass killing on the wizard is a bit risky but most effective if you can master it (which you should be wanting a challenge if you are on wizard anyways.) figure out the range of your Flaming Serpents (Fire teleport spell) and use it through enemies so you can burn all of them and make it out on the other side unharmed. Be very careful when using this tactic as it can quickly backfire and you can be stuck inside a mass of enemies in which case, pop your lightning shield spell and wait for the cooldown on your Flaming Serpents to come back.
Elf – Elf is probably the simplest, just kite them in a wide arc and place NORMAL Bombs on the ground. They must be normal Bombs and not Bomb Shots because the normal bomb has a much larger blast radius, ensuring more kills. Obviously, if you run into trouble utilize your dodge roll to get out.
Crypts of the Sun King
Mummy Slayer – Kill 15000 Mummies
An easy method to mummy farming is in chapter 1 in the final arena area, just let the 4 spawners spawn their stuff and follow my tips above untill you get your mastery.
Skeleton Slayer – Kill 15000 Skeletons
Skeletons are unique in that they can be one shotted regardless of health or power by certain abilities by each class.
Warrior: The Warrior’s Charge ability one shots all skeletons, make sure you utilize this to your advantage when kiting them to their doom.
Valkyrie: The Valkyrie’s Shield Block one shots all skeletons, you can just pit up camp in a corner with your shield up and kill all the skeletons that are stupid enough to attack you.
Wizard: The Wizard’s lightning abilities all one shot skeletons (excluding Chain Lightning), your lightning barrier can become your greatest weapon as waves of skeletons walk into their death. You can also just kite and storm punch them over and over, quite effective as well.
Elf: The Elf doesn’t really benefit from a one shotting skeleton move, as the Sniper Shot and Bomb/Bomb Shot one shot everything else anyways unless you are on unfair fighting a big tough monster so just proceed with the normal plan.
Anyways, the Skeletons can be farmed in any room with 2-4 spawners using the above tactics. Note that skeletons WILL NOT appear in chapter 1 or 4, only in chapters 2 and 3 of the Crypts.
Lich Slayer – Kill 50 Liches
This mastery can be kind of a pain because there isnt many liches in the game whatsoever and not really an effective way to grind them out either. The quickest way is to run a game on easy difficulty and buy Boots of Ranadam and just speed run chapter 3 like hell until you have killed all of the liches you need. There are 3 liches in chapter 3 so run chapter 3 all the way through using the boots of ranadam as often as possible to make your down time a little less painful.
The Undeath of Khamun – Defeat the Sun King
Relatively explanatory, doesn’t need much coaching. Kite mummies and kill the spawners, stand on the buttons to lower out his heart and burn his heart as quickly as possible.
Crypt Kicker – Complete a NON-BOSS chapter of Crypts of the Sun King without dying on Unfair
This mastery is not that hard to get, the easiest way is to run fully upgraded siren’s lute and pop it whenever you get into any trouble, everthing backs off and you get healed. I recommend doing chapter one for this mastery but it is up to you.
Caverns of Mag’Ash
Grunt Slayer – Kill 15000 Grunts
So this is by far the most effective way to get ANY of the kill masteries that aren’t specific to a different kind of enemy. The caster versions of the Grunts have an ability in which they link themselves to a Grunt Summoning Stone (you cant miss it.) This link makes that specific stone summon Grunts a LOT faster than normal, so not only does this increase production of kills, it also completely sedates the only form of range that can hit you since the casters have to channel the link. which means only melee creatures and a LOT of them. Keep in mind that increasing the difficulty increases the spawn count of enemies as well so learn what you can handle and start farming! (I prefer chapter 1 unfair in the first room that has 2 stones in it because of the tunnel entrance that is very narrow helps certain classes just aim down the tunnel and kill like mad, and the perfect amount of enemies in my personal preferrence.)
Orc Slayer – Kill 15000 Orcs
This is hands down the hardest mastery to get in terms of time. First of all the orcs are the strongest basic melee creature in the game next to demon melee creatures. Not only that but they also spawn big hulking beasts that have an immense health bars and can knock back the orcs themselves, ruining your kiting train. The only positive to this mastery is that there are no ranged orcs so you dont have to worry about stray projectiles hitting you in the face while you’re kiting. Basically all i can say is to find a room with as many spawners as you feel comfortable with (up to 4 in the arena of chapter 3) and just start killing.
Spider Queen Slayer – Kill 50 Spider Queens
This mastery is fun and easy to farm. All you have to do is run Boots of Ranadam, and if you are a Wizard/Valkyrie run with a Ring of Mirrors as well (Whatever else you prefer if you are playing Warrior/Elf). Take these relics and go to chapter 3 on easy mode for most efficiency. There are about 3- 5 Queen Spiders in this chapter, 2 in the first area, second area may vary, and 1 in the arena area. Simply run through the level as you normally would, if you are Wizard or Valkyrie pop Ring of Mirrors on the Queens; if you are a Warrior/Elf pop the Boots of Ranadam and damage away like crazy for the fastest kill. You will get this mastery in about 10-15 runs if you had absolutely none at the start.
Besting the Beast of Orox – Kill the Alligator Orox boss
This is definitely the easiest boss in the game just kite him and hit him when he isn’t facing you. Stop all damage when he is red and just avoid him. Ignore the adds because he will kill them by himself.
Cave Crusher – Complete a NON-BOSS chapter of Caverns of Mag’Ash without dying on Unfair
This mastery is not that hard to get, the easiest way is to run fully upgraded siren’s lute and pop it whenever you get into any trouble, everthing backs off and you get healed. I recommend doing chapter one for this mastery but it is up to you.
The Burning Temple of Dur
Cultist Slayer – Kill 15000 Cultists
Chapter 1 is FULL of cultists and hardly any demons, i recommend this chapter for killing cultists. Just find a room with as many spawners as you are comfortable with (2-3) and just do the killing methods.
Demon Slayer – Kill 15000 Demons
Chapter 2 in the very first room if you rush to grab the key and unlock it; those two spawners alone are plenty for you to shred through many demons in short time. Use the little stairs platform in the center to try to trap the ranged caster demons inside so they can’t hit you. then stand alongside that platform on either side and they will come to you in a straight line making for easy mass kills.
Morak Defeated – Defeat Morak
The objective should be painfully obvious. This boss can prove to be a bit of a tough one if you are not careful. However if you want the easy mastery completion just do it on normal or easy.
Temple Toppler – Complete a NON-BOSS chapter of The Burning Temple of Dur without dying on Unfair
This mastery is not that hard to get, the easiest way is to run fully upgraded siren’s lute and pop it whenever you get into any trouble, everthing backs off and you get healed. I recommend doing chapter one for this mastery but it is up to you.
Death Masteries
Slayer – Kill 50000 enemies
This one should not be focused on as you will get it while you are getting the other 15000 specific kills masteries. However if you just want to grind it fast for the 25% increased global damage then see Caverns of Mag’Ash, Grunt Slayer.
Dying for a Living – Die 100 times
See Class Specific Masteries, Any of the cumulative damage masteries.
Explosive Exit – Die from area damage
This should be self explanatory, just take a killing blow from any type of area damage. Shouldn’t need any help with this one.
Suddenly Skewered – Die from a Spike Trap
Spike Traps shouldn’t have to be explained, however the easiest way to get this quickly is to enter the 3rd chapter of Crypts of the Sun King and go right when the path splits and just pace back and forth on the spikes in front of all the gold until you finally die.
Icy Tomb – Die while frozen
This mastery can be somewhat irritating sometimes because your timing has to be good and you have to make sure that the skeletons dont kill you unless you are frozen. Go to either chapter 2 or 3 in Crypts of the Sun King and fight a lich. All of the liches spells freeze you, except for his skeleton summoning spell. Simply let his skeleton minions take you down low, then destroy them all. Next step is to stand in the liches spells until you are frozen and he kills you.
Deader than Dead – Die 8 times in one session on a single floor
See Class Specific Masteries, Any cumulative damage mastery… repeat until you have died at least 8 times.
Embracing the End – Die from an Explosive Barrel that you are holding
Simply find a barrel spawner and ignite it, immediately pick it up and let it explode in your hands. Rinse and repeat until it finally kills you.
Seriously Severed – Die from a Blade Trap
See Class Specific Masteries, Any cumulative damage mastery.
Conclusion
This guide was created only by me and my experience in playing the game. I hope this explains all of the masteries in depth and if you still have any questions at all feel free to comment on my guide and i will try to help you.
Special thanks to Ranssom for purchasing the game for me.
