ICEY Guide

ICEY Achievement Guide for ICEY

ICEY Achievement Guide

Overview

Here is a guide for completing all achievements in ICEY. The achievements are listed by their appearance in the game, to make your achievement hunt easier. It might contain spoilers.

Introduction

Hi, I’m Frostbyte and I have completed all the achievements in ICEY by the time I’m writing this guide. Before starting, here are a few considerations about this guide and the achievement hunt.

  • If you want to go achievement hunting by yourself, remember that most of the achievements are gotten by ignoring the narrator and exploring where he doesn’t want you to go.
  • Most of the achievements require you to start the scenario over. If you intend to finish the storyline as soon as possible, go achievement hunting after you beat the game at least once.
  • This guide is organized in the most efficient way to get all the achievements, considering the map resets. I strongly recommend you to follow the order, skipping the ones you already have, of course.
  • The achievements are grouped by the scenario they are found in, since you can access any scenario you want from the Extensive I™ System Interface menu.
  • The achievements that are unlocked automatically are tagged with (auto). If, and only if, you’re following the arrows, don’t worry about those. And, if you haven’t gotten them, another way will be explained in this guide.
  • This guide is not spoiler free, and spoilers are not hidden. Sorry about that.
  • Here is a guide on where to find all four developers’ letters.

Tutorial

Trinity’s Chains (auto)

“Defeat Trinity. Trinity could not stop this cycle, nor can she ever stop the wheel of reincarnation from spinning.” You’ll get this one automatically as soon as you defeat the first boss and finish the tutorial.

Follow the Leader (auto)

“Enter the real ‘game’ with the narrator.” This one you get automatically as soon as you start the game. When the game directs you to the main menu, just keep selecting the first option until the game starts. If you’re past this part, you might get it by changing the game difficulty on the beginning of the Lost Woods and choosing to start game with narrator.

Once Isn’t Enough

“Do not wake up ICEY.” Self-explanatory. When prompted, do not press any buttons to wake up ICEY. If you have accidentally skipped that achievement, you can stay in front of the gate and the narrator will let you enter again after a while.

Lost Woods

Map

Pitfalls

“Do not activate the photon bridge and jump 3 times into the ravine.” Self-explanatory. Ignore the narrator talking about the console and just jump into the ravine three times.

Restart, Restart

“Keep trying to go left in the ‘extra area’.” This one should be done right after Pitfalls. Jump into the ravine again, and you’ll get access to an Additional Generated Area. Refuse to follow the arrow, go left and enter the cave. Keep going left until you get to a room full of televisions.

Junk Jumper

“Jump into sewage 3 times.” Pretty self-explanatory. Jump on the swamp three times as you follow the narrator’s directions. As a bonus, your screen will get a 3d effect for a while.

Sewer

Map

Waiting for Nothing

“Wait for a few minutes in the ‘Totally Empty Room’.” When you get to the giant cavern, dash up and enter a tunnel above the door where you’ve came from. When you get to the Totally Empty Room, wait there for a few minutes (about three minutes).

Bronze Trophy

“Earn a bronze trophy in the ‘Totally Empty Room’.” This one is done right after Waiting for Nothing. Just break the bronze trophy that is going to appear on the left side of the room.

Silver Trophy

“Earn a silver trophy in the ‘Totally Empty Room’.” Same as above. Break the silver trophy that appears right after the bronze one.

Trophy Addict

“Finish the story in the ‘Totally Empty Room’.” Just wait until the dialogue is over after getting both the bronze and silver trophies.

Gorger’s Apathy (auto)

“Defeat Gorger. Gorger was a simple resident of Ultimopolis that sacrificed himself to Judas without regret… or any other feelings.” If you’re following the narrator directions, this one will be automatically unlocked after you defeat Gorger.

Ultimopolis

Map

Buy Another Copy!

“Witness secrets of development in the ‘Archive Room’.” This time, you’ll follow the arrow for a while. Enter the warehouse and enter the left door on the second floor. Then, just wait until the dialogue is over.

Thor’s Loyalty (auto)

“Defeat Thor. Thor understood Judas’ ultimate goal, and paid the ultimate price of splitting his self to serve Judas.” Follow the narrator’s directions and defeat Thor.

Gate Crasher

“Ignore the narrator and enter Emberville before the gate closes.” It says Emberville on the achievement, but you’re actually reaching Ultimopolis. This is a self-explanatory achievement. Ignore the entrance, fight the enemies, and the next screen is the gate. Dash really quick to the right until you’re past the gates. Another way to get it is playing through the game normally, then selecting Ultimopolis on the Extensive I™ System Interface and going left until you can’t anymore.

Metro Entrance

Map

ICEY, UCEY

“Discover the truth of ICEY’s birth.” As soon as you fall down the hole, ignore the narrator and go right. Keep going right, and don’t forget that sometimes the way you’re supposed to go is dashing up. As soon as you find the first enemies, the way will be on the top left. Keep going on the opposite direction as the arrow shows. The secret room will be on the top right. Kill the enemies and keep going right until you get the cutscene. Your name, from now on, will be permanently UCEY.

Parker’s Lost Heart (auto)

“Defeat Parker. Parker, betrayed by Judas, retreated with no conscience to the dark corners of the metro.” His name is actually Puck. You’ll meet him as long as you’re following the narrator’s directions. Kill him and you’ll unlock the achievement.

Metro Transfer

Map

[1] Check the Notes section for info on this map’s name.

SHIO

“Enter level ‘Shio’.” After you kill the spiders, dash down the bars about three or four times, until the narrator lets you get to the green goo. Then kill yourself on the goo. After some dialogue, you get to play a minigame named SHIO, and you’ll get the achievement as soon as it’s over, winning it or not.

Carlos’ Ambitions (auto)

“Defeat Carlos. Carlos was fed up with the constant sacrifice of his self in each reincarnation. His solution? Kill and replace the Chosen One.” You’ll find him by following the narrator’s directions. Defeat him and you’ll unlock the achievement automatically.

Crossroads / Marionette Theater

If this is your first gameplay, do not take the Ultimopolis Metro Entrance path, and go right. If you have already completed the game, the following achievements take place in the Marionette Theather scenario, so you can save some time via the Extensive I™ System Interface menu.
Map

“Outside” Fire

“Encourage the narrator to meet the tip of a bullet.” As soon as you enter the puppet theater, go up and keep going on the opposite direction of the arrows until you get to a room with three almost closed doors. Enter the first one, ignore the wife call (there’s no way to accept it, ignore right away to save some time, or try to accept to get more dialogue), and keep going left until he gets shot.

CEO and Miss Perfect

“Earn sponsorship for the game.” Enter the third door in the same corridor you got the Outside Fire achievement. Accept the call, and you’ll get this achievement after the cutscene ends.

And the Next Song is…?

“Destroy the background music player.” Enter the same door you got in to get the CEO and Miss Perfect achievement, but this time, decline the call. Keep going right, hit the music player a couple of times, and when they stop speaking, hit it a little more. Come back to the previous room and it’s done.

Jack’s Faith

“Defeat Jack. While Jack’s faith is unwavering, being banished to the furthest corner of the world left him unable to even come close to the Chosen One.” Go deeper into the puppet theater, you’ll fight Jack as soon as you kill all the enemies on the path, and the achievement will unlock.

The Abyss Watches Back

“Confront the Yellow King in the monitor room.” After you fight Jack, either way you go will get you to the monitor room. Hit the Yellow King three times, and you’ll unlock this achievement.

Clock Tower Entrance

Map

[2] Check the Notes section for info on this map.

Modern Day Pandora’s Box

“Break open Pandora’s box.” Just keep going on the clock tower entrance area until you see an elevator on the right (it will be after the forest-like scenario). Wait inside of the elevator until you can use it. You’ll get the achievement after slashing the box and watching the cutscene.

Ideon’s Resignation (auto)

“Defeat Ideon. Ideon’s self was slowly destroyed through the process of never-ending reincarnation, leaving him even more vulnerable to Judas’ manipulation.” You’ll meet him in the game course. Kill him, and the achievement is yours.

Clock Tower 2F

God’s 9 Billion Names

“Learn the name of God.” From the first room of the 2F of the Clock Tower, go left, and you should find yourself on a black and white version of the puppet theater. Go to the top right, and keep going “back” until you’re on a scenario identical to the one where you got the Buy Another Copy! achievement. Soon enough you’ll find out God’s name.

Dahal’s Pain

“Defeat Dahal. Only in a virtual world is such a thing possible… To mix two beings’ memories… Because of this, Dahal short-circuited.” To get this, you’re going to have to kill Trinity’s body. One hit is enough. Killing her will let you fight Dahal and get the Trinity’s Self achievement.

True Love

“Do not kill Dahal’s self which lives within Trinity.” Alternatively, you can spare Trinity. Ignore her, wait until the dialogue is over (it might take a few minutes) and go to the next room. You’ll get the achievement after a few seconds. Please note that you won’t fight Dahal’s body if you don’t kill her.

Trinity’s Self

“Defeat Trinity. Even after her memories were mixed with another’s, Trinity still tried to prevent the birth of the Chosen One. That was, of course, futile.” You get this one by slaying Dahal (he’s not fighting you if you have spared Trinity).

Room of Fate

Map

People Are Pigs

“Select ‘Not Ready’ before the final battle.” Self-explainable. Just answer NO everytime he asks you if you’re ready to face Judas, until he asks you if you’re a pig. Then, don’t choose any option, just wait for about four minutes.

Judas’ Repentance (auto)

“Defeat Judas. Judas had long ago given up his struggle. As he ascended the Clock Tower, the Black Star rose once more.” Defeat the final boss, Judas.

Black Star Rises (auto)

“And in the dark of night, the unfathomable Black Star rises.” Beat the game. The achievement may appear after the credits scene, right before the Extensive I™ System Interface is shown again.

Bonus

To Meet You Again

“Witness the birth of ICEY’s self-awareness.” This one is gotten after you beat the game and is kinda tricky to get. If you have all the 32 achievements to this point, a green option named Master’s Name should be on your Extensive I™ System Interface menu. If you have completed all achievements and yet this option hasn’t appeared, just make sure you read all four developers’ letters on a single run. Anyway, after you click on Master’s Name, a password will be prompted. Type HASTUR, and you’ll unlock the secret chamber. Watch the cutscenes, fight the enemies, try not to cry in the meantime, and the achievement shall be yours.

Hastur

“Earn all trophies.” Self-explanatory. This one will unlock after you get the other 33 achievements.

Notes

Changelog:

v.1: guide published (January 29, 2017). v.1.1: some spelling and formatting mistakes were corrected (January 30, 2017). v.2: the maps found in the puppet theater were added to the guide, showing their achievement locations (January 31, 2017). v.2.1: updated some wrong information on the tutorial part (February 03, 2017). v.2.2: the three remaining maps are being added as I make them (February 07, 2017). This might take a couple of days, since Clock Tower 2F is a huge map (and it’s even bigger if you’re trying to discover the real name of God) and I still have no idea of how I am going to fit it on the frame I have made). v.2.2.1: I was mistaken about Dahal and Trinity’s achievements being bugged. Thanks, @Every Day is a Night, for pointing this out for me (Februrary 22, 2017). v.2.2.2: added a link to a guide about finding all four developers’ letters (May 29, 2017) v.2.2.3: corrected some information about the “Once Isn’t Enough” achievement. Thanks, @Estecka (June 23, 2017). v.2.2.4: @Kef-Meister has pointed out a mistake about “Gate Crasher” description, and suggested another way to get the achievement (July 09, 2017). Thanks!

Check this section later, cause if any bugfix is released, of if I make any correction to the guide, they might appear here.

Notes to readers/developers:

– Parker’s name (on the achievement) is actually Puck (in-game). – Gate Crasher says you’re entering Emberville, but you’re actually reaching Ultimopolis. – Some achievements have some spelling mistakes. Like “Defeat ThorThor understood […]” (basically all achievements that require slaying a boss). – The map for the Metro Entrance is called Subway Corridors, and the map for the Metro Transfer [1] is called Sewer (making two maps named Sewer, but I fixed the name on the guide to make it less confusing). – Dahal’s Pain and Trinity’s Self are reversed. When you kill Trinity, you get Dahal’s achievement, and when you kill Dahal, you get Trinity’s achievement.[2] All these maps are not found in-game and were all made by me. They aren’t perfect, I just made them to help, but I’d appreciate if they weren’t used without my permission.

Any feedback is welcome. Sugestions, corrections… Feel free to send me a friend request if you need help, or if you just want to talk about the game. Thanks for reading!
