Overview
So first you will want to get Earth. Then put it at about 10000 degrees for a few seconds so all the surface goes black when it cools down. Then, save the planet as a random name and delete it. Then find it in your saved objects and you should find an option to change the colour of the planet under the appearance tab. The climate tab will still be there but it will have limited options. To fix this simply change the atmosphere mass, save the object, delete it and bring it back from the saved objects tab. Once you bring it back the climate tab will have all the options back again. Add water, enable climate and then you will have ice caps.
