Overview

A complete guide to chocobo world

Basics

The basics of the game are simple, you must move Boko to the event squares on the map, beat any enemies in combat and level up to level 100.
The game is not punishing as losing a battle pushes you down to 1HP with all items and levels remaining untouched.
All Items found in the game can be transferred to the main game and some Items can only be found in Chocobo World.

How to play

Chocobo world only uses a few buttons for controls.
The arrow keys move Boko, the ctrl key brings up the menu and the esc key closes the game.

Menu

The menu in chocobo world has 6 sections, each cover a different aspect.

Map The map shows Boko’s current location (flashing black square) the event locations (black squares)
Below the map shows Boko’s current level and the total gametime.

ItemsThe Item screen shows you how many items you have and in what rank.

Status
The status screen shows Boko’s current weapon stats, his current level and HP and his ID number.

Move
The move screen lets you change the move setting. The move setting controls how long it will take Boko to reach an event without player input.

Event Wait The event wait screen lets you choose if you want the game to wait for you to hit ctrl to start an event or trigger them automaticly.

Mog
After finding Mog you get this setting, if you have him set to standby he will help Boko in a fight.

Battles

Battles uses a time counter to decide who attacks, with the number on the left being the enemies timer and the one on the right is Boko’s.
The first timer to reach 0 attacks and then the timers are reset.
By pressing the left and right arrows alternately you can increase the speed your timer decreases.

Weapons

Weapons in Chocobo World decide the amount of damage dealt when Boko attacks, each weapon has 4 different numbers, these numbers are the amount of damage Boko will deal, with one number being chosen at random when Boko attacks to decide the amount of damage dealt.
You can get new weapons from encountering Moomba.

Levels

Instead of experience, after each battle Boko gains a magic stone that is randomly placed on a 3×3 grid and when three line up in a row, Boko levels up.

Events

Events occur whenever you reach a black spot on the map, there are 4 types of event:

There is also a random healing event that occurs just by walking around the map, when this triggers, touch a button to stop healing and continue playing.

Monsters

There are four regular monsters and one boss monster in Chocobo World.

Special Events

There are several special events in Chocobo World, all of them can only occur after you reach a certain level.

Meeting Koko gives Boko power ups, these effect Bokos summon attack in the main game, his attacks are:

Cactuar will give you various items when you see him, each one marked with a different rank, the next few section list each item in each rank.
