SweetFX Shader Enhancement for FFVIII for FINAL FANTASY VIII

SweetFX Shader Enhancement for FFVIII

Overview

An alternative SweetFX graphical enhancement

Information

The purpose of this mod is to make the game look as though it were played on an old CRT screen, primarily with the use of simulated scanlines. It was made using a 1920×1080 resolution so I can only verify quality on that setup, different resolutions may see mixed results.

SweetFX Shader Suite does not modify game files in any way so it is safe to use.

This guide was not created to compete with the original “GFX Enhancement” by EternalCore, but to give users more options on how they would like their game to look. His applies a horizontal look, mine is a vertical look. Please use whichever you prefer as they are not compatible with each other.

Screenshots + Video

Please expand each image to fullscreen (the little button in the URL after clicking an image), the effect stops working when the image is shrunk
View them HERE[sfx.thelazy.net] for proper tooltip on/off comparisons. Remember to view it at proper resolution by clicking the image twice.

Remember to fullscreen and force 1080p (if it isn’t working, try opening it in your web browser instead of Steam)

Instructions

Download from here:
{LINK REMOVED}http://www.mediafire.com/download/67ernz2mo7qj26m/SweetFX+FINAL+FANTASY+VIII.rar
Extract the contents of the rar to:

SteamsteamappscommonFINAL FANTASY VIII

Play the game.

Toggle the post-processed effects using ScrollLock
Overlay F12 screenshots do not work, however Screenshots with the effect can be taken using PrtScr and will be stored in the FFVIII directory

I recommend you play without Linear Filtering enabled, as well as forcing the game to Keep Aspect Ratio so models don’t look squished.
