Cakewalk Loop Manager – FAQ

Overview

Frequently asked questions about the Cakewalk Loop Manager

What is Cakewalk Loop Manager?

Cakewalk Loop Manager leverages the power of the STEAM client to deliver Audio/MIDI loop content.

All current features are done through the STEAM UI.

When I press launch it just opens a folder?

Correct. This is the Cakewalk Content folder. Loops will be delivered into sub-folders under either ‘Audio Library’ or ‘MIDI Library’.

The STEAM client installs to here:
%installdir%CakewalkCakewalk Content

In reality, this will likely be:
“C:Program Files(x86)SteamSteamAppsCommonCakewalkCakewalk Content”
“C:Program FilesSteamSteamAppsCommonCakewalkCakewalk Content”
“E:SteamLibraryCommonCakewalkCakewalk Content”

I don’t own SONAR or Music Creator 6 Touch. Can I still use this in my DAW?

Yes. We primarily deliver loop content to Windows Users as REX2. As long as your Windows DAW supports this file format you should be able to utilize the loops.

You can read up on REX2 files here[en.wikipedia.org].

Why release content this way as opposed to DLC for SONAR/Music Creator?

Since May of 2013, we received a large number of requests from the community for additional loop content. In the process of developing a solution we ran into a potential issue. When DLC is added to an application on STEAM, it requires a complete rebuild. This could potentially lead to issues with users working configurations of SONAR or Music Creator.

The safer solution was to release content separately. This also opens up a few more doors for us in regards to STEAM Community feature integration.

I bought a few packs but I don’t want to install 20GB on each of my machines.

Fortunately, since one of the latest STEAM client updates, users can select which DLC components are downloaded.

    This can be down by:

  • Right -Click on Cakewalk Loop Manager
  • Go to Preferences
  • Go to the DLC Tab
  • Un-check anything you do not wish to install.

Will there be more content?

Yes, we’re planning to release content in ‘waves’.
