Overview
A list of the 30 pieces of Breach Software to be collected, with instructions and screenshots to point you the way. I’ve sorted them by location to make it easier to actually follow the guide, but I did keep the numbers the pieces of Breach Software have in the game (i.e. in your log) to allow searching for the ones you’re missing. For example, if you see in your log that you’re missing the fifth Breach Software, just press Ctrl + F to open the search bar and enter #05 to go to the relevant section of the guide.
About Breach Software
There are 30 pieces of Breach Software in the game. You can hand them in with Costache at Tech Noir in Prague. He takes your Breach Software when you select the appropriate conversation option, and pays you 300 credits for each. For each 5 pieces of Breach Software you give him, you’ll get a Booster Pack to use when playing the Breach Mode of the game.
To prevent players from farming booster packs for Breach Mode, you can only hand in your Breach Software once, not once per game. It’s a bit like the DLC bonus items that can only be used once, not once per game. So handing in your Breach Software and then reloading an earlier savegame means you miss out on the money. Also, in a second playthrough you can’t hand in Breach Software you handed in before.
The numbers of the pieces of Breach Software used in this guide correspond to how they’re saved in your ingame log.
This will allow easy searching for the ones you’re missing. For example, if you see in your log that you’re missing the fifth Breach Software, just press Ctrl + F to open the search bar and enter #05 to go to the relevant section of the guide.
Southern Prague I (daytime)
You need to hack your way in. The Breach Software is on the desk.
You get here during Mission 3. The Breach Software is in a cardboard box on top of a bookcase on the ground floor of the bookstore.
If you enter the store through the main entrance, turn right to see the bookcase.
You get here during Mission 3. The Breach Software is on a shelf on Koller’s desk.
In this metro station, you’ll see a red area on your map. The Breach Software is on a desk in the last room of this area.
You get here during Side Mission 2: Cult of Personality. The Breach Software is in the room where you find Richard.
Northern Prague I (daytime)
The Breach Software is in the ticket office.
You get here during Side Mission 04: The Calibrator. The Breach Software is on the top floor, in the room where you find the calibrator, on a desk.
I just went into Tech Noir, hacked the keypad next to the door inside, went down the stairs behind that door and took the Breach Software.
I did notice the ‘storage unit door’ in this basement but decided to open that later from the other side, to get the hacking rewards. When I got to the other side, which is the small courtyard behind Tech Noir that has the sewer entrance to the Underground Casino, I noticed the Tech Noir basement/storage had now become a restricted zone guarded by a camera. Maybe that’s a consequence of me breaking into that basement earlier, I don’t know, but theoretically there is another way in.
Jump on top of the roof of the storage units.
Continue across the ledge towards the apartment’s balcony and enter the apartment.
On the wall to your left you see a painting and a keypad to hack. The safe the keypad unlocks is behind the painting.
If you give the vendor one neuropozyne, he’ll allow access to his basement. There, you need to switch off the laser grid. You can remote-hack it or use the keypad on the wall to your left as you come down the stairs.
There is a minor bug here: even though the vendor says you’re free to go explore his basement and the ‘restricted (red) zone’ gets lifted, a tiny strip of restriced area remains at the top of the stairs. Crossing this tiny strip will alert the police officers outside the store who will come inside to check out the situation. Don’t worry, just continue down into the basement and they’ll only be alerted for a second (literally) and not raise any alarms or anything.
The Tourist Centre is closed and the door is sealed with police tape, but you can get in through the window right next to the door.
The Breach Software is in the restricted (red) area of the station, on a desk next to a guard. You can grab the Breach Software without alerting the guard, if you prefer.
Enter the Coffee Shop.
Go down to the basement and enter the side room. The code for the door is 5622.
Look up. You need to climb those pipes. There are plenty of crates and barrels around to help you with that.
All the way at the top you’ll see a vent. Enter it.
The Breach Software is in a bookcase that’s immediately to your right as you enter the apartment.
When facing the entrance to the clinic, look to the right of the building. There’s an arch that leads to a vent.
Jump up to the arch and enter the vent.
You’re on the top floor of the L.I.M.B. Clinic. Turn around to see a cardboard box that has two archive boxes in it.
Remove the two archive boxes to reveal the Breach Software.
The closest access to this part of the sewers is the square with the podium at The Music Box. Make your way to the room in the southwest.
When you enter the room, you’ll find the level below is filled with gas. So turn left and use the barrels here to jump to the level above. Up there, you’ll find two valves that’ll allow you to shut off the gas.
Now you can go down and take the Breach Software.
You get here during Mission 05: Claiming Jurisdiction. Go to the server room (marked ‘SERVERS’ on your map). You find the Breach Software in a corner on the floor, in between two computers.
Northern Prague I (daytime) continued: Palisade Property Bank
There are three pieces of Breach Software in the Palisade Property Bank. You’ll find a full guide to them below, but here’s a short list in case you just want the general locations and look for them yourself:
- #13 is in Executive Safes B, in one of the safes
- #14 is in Executive Safes A, in a wall safe in the security room
- #15 is in the CEO’s Office, in the secret room beyond the puzzle
There are several ways to break into the executive vaults. Here’s one. It requires decent hacking skills, the leg augmentation to be able to jump higher and the augmentation that allows you to smash through walls. Remote Hacking is also highly recommended and a must if you want to get Breach Software #14 in the way described below. For the latter, you’ll also need the augmentation that allows you to move heavy objects. All of these augmentations are generally highly recommended for a nice Deus Ex: Mankind Divided experience anyway, so you may as well take them if you haven’t already.
Start from Ludvik’s Lounge, which is immediately southeast from the bank.
Enter the lounge and go downstairs. In the room on the left there’s a vent. Enter it.
To your right, there’s a door to the bank’s garage (another way in) but we’re going down the ladder straight ahead.
Smash through the vent ahead and you’ll see a gas cloud below. The valve to shut it off is to your far right. Work your way up to the ladder and climb the ladder to the top level.
You’ll see a corpse in front of you. It contains a pocket secretary with a passcode. To your left, you need to smash through the weak wall.
Continue through and you’re in the bank. In the next room is Executive Safes B. There’s a panel on the wall in front of you that allows you to shut down the lasers that guard the executive safes.
You need to get across the safes room. There’s a nasty camera to deal with (sneak past it, remote hack it, disable it with EMP). Across the room you’ll find Server Room B. Hack the door and enter.
In this room, open the vent in the floor and enter.
When you exit on the other side, you’re in a security room. There’s a safe on the wall. The Breach Software is in the safe.
In the security room where you got Breach Software #13, there’s a computer that allows you to disable the security systems and open the main door to the safes room. Do that and simply walk out of the Executive Safes B room through the door you just opened. Across the hallway is Executive Safes A, our next target. Again, there are several ways to handle this. Here’s one. Cross the hall and enter the hallway to the right of Executive Safes A, to a room labeled Executive Services.
Enter this room and move the copy machine to discover a vent. Enter it.
Walk across the pipes to avoid the electricity and flip the breaker switch on the other side.
Go into the lift room and in front of you, you’ll notice a vent below. I believe you can only open this vent by means of remote hacking. So do that and enter.
In the room on the other side, there’s another vent in the floor. Open it and enter.
On the other side you’ll find a Security Room. You can just sneak forward and operate the computer in front of you without being seen.
Hack into the computer, shut down all the security measures and raise the safes. Return through the vent to the previous room. You can now safely loot the safes. You’ll find the Breach Software in safe 01.
Return to the lift room that you passed while getting Breach Software #14. Use remote hacking on the lift control to summon the lift down to you.
Jump on top of the lift. Look up and remote-hack the lift control way up there.
This makes the lift go up, dropping you conveniently near a vent that leads into the lowest level where the CEO Office is.
Go through the vent. On the other side, you’ll see three vent covers (left, right and ahead). You want the one on the left so move the cardboard boxes that are in the way.
Across the hallway is the CEO + CTO’s Office. There are two guards here. Deal with them (or not) and remote hack the camera up the stairs (or not) and enter the door underneath the camera.
In this room, you see a ‘Mechanical Puzzle’ with white boxes. Hitting the ‘activate’ key makes one or two parts change size, whereas holding the activate key will make the puzzle rotate. The aim is to have three rows of four boxes, like this:
Solving the puzzle opens up a hidden door to a secret room. Here, you’ll find the Breach Software on the desk.
Golem City
Prague II (nighttime)
Note: you’re required to go to the theater during your third visit to Prague, but you can enter it during your second visit. Most players will be curious about the theater when going near it for Side Mission 09: All in the Family during their second visit to Prague.
In the lowest level of the theater is a room where you see Radich Nikoladze and two ladies. Next to that room is a smaller room with a security computer. To enter this room:
- if you have the augmentation that allows you to move heavy objects, you can move aside the large container that’s blocking the keypad for the door and hack that keypad
- you can sneak past Nikoladze and the two ladies
- you can deal with Nikoladze, peacefully or violently (note that this has an impact on how things play out during your next visit to the theater)
Once inside, the Breach Software is right next to the security computer.
Look for this section of the apartment. You need to jump over or climb underneath the machinery to find the Breach Sofware.
On one of the walls is a painting you can interact with. Do that, and open the safe you find underneath the painting to get to the Breach Software.
G.A.R.M. Facility
The Breach Software is in the second of the four small rooms in Hangar 1.
