Sleeping Dogs™ Guide

Sleeping Dogs 100% Completion Guide for Sleeping Dogs™

Sleeping Dogs 100% Completion Guide

Overview

The purpose of this guide is to point out all that is necessary to achieve 100% completion in Sleeping Dogs. There can be plenty of confusion over what needs to be unlocked, completed, or collected in order to be a completionist. I achieved 100%, so I know what is needed to reach 100% completion. I will display screenshots and mention the different side missions that are relevant to 100% completion.

What Is Required For 100% Completion

The following screenshot displays some of the types of missions that need to be completed in order to achieve 100% completion:

The two screenshots above are from the All Stats tab (under stats, not in the Social Hub). The following screenshot shows my Completionist Stat Award in the Social Hub.

The next part of this section will make a distinction between Favors, Jobs, and Events.

Favors

Favors are the largest selection of side missions. They involve you being called by someone on the street who knows him personally or by reputation. Favors can include someone like Calvin asking you to act as a getaway driver. Other favors include dates with ladies that you meet throughout the story missions and taking a few pictures with your smartphone for a shirt maker.

Jobs

The 30 jobs are available at different points in the game, so you will have to complete enough story missions to access all 30 jobs. The 30 jobs are divided into the following categories:

Martial Arts Clubs: The martial arts clubs will be available upon completion of the story mission “Amanda”. There are 4 martial arts clubs, 1 in each district (North Point, Central, Kennedy Town, Aberdeen). Each martial arts club contains 6 waves of increasingly larger numbers of opponents for cash and special themed costumes.

Car Deliveries: Halfway through Act 1 of the game and after the “Popstar” Case has been closed, Uncle Tran will call you to inform you that he would pay you for cars you steal and deliver to his chop shop. Uncle Tran will be available to you on your contacts section of your smartphone. There are 20 cars to deliver. However, what may be confusing is the receipt of HK$20,000 for delivering all 20 cars. The HK$20,000 payment will count as a job completed in addition to the 20 cars delivered.

Debt Collection: At the beginning of Act 2, Uncle Po will offer work under a debt collector named Roland Ho. There are 5 debt collection missions after the introductory job.

Events

There are 28 events that occur spontaneously as Wei Shen is traveling past certain locations.

Drug Busts: The introduction to Drug Busts is in the second lead to the “Popstar” Case. Every drug bust requires you to go to a marked location on the map and beat up the thugs until they get scared and run away. You will then have to hack the surveillance camera that watches the hangout. After hacking the surveillance camera you will have to return to your safehouse to use the hacked camera to identify the drug supplier to the HKPD for an arrest. There are 17 drug busts and all appear on the game’s map. Drug Busts are good for increasing your cop points or police training.

Shoplifter: This event occurs as Wei drives or runs past certain businesses. The business owner will call Wei over and ask him to deal with a customer causing problems. You are to take the customer out of the business and keep him away from there.

Hit and Run: A Sun On Yee member gets robbed in front of you and you have to pursue the thief to recover the stolen goods. The chases can go from being on foot to being a drive through the streets.

Junk in the Trunk: You drive past a nondescript car parked in an area it doesn’t seem to belong in. You hear crying or shouting from the trunk of the car. All you have to do is open the trunk and rescue the person inside the trunk.

I have now concluded my distinctions between Favors, Events, and Jobs. I will now mention the Missions, Cameras Hacked, Cases, Melee Training, Police Training, Races, and Triad Upgrades that need to be completed or unlocked for 100% completion.

Missions

Missions you see in the first screenshot of this guide are related to the main story. There are 30 main story missions. The more story missions you complete, the more side missions that will be available to you since the Favors, Events, and Jobs will be unlocked. The number of Missions completed in the first screenshot go hand in hand with the Story Progress displayed in the second screenshot of this guide. Therefore, the completion of 30 of 30 Missions means 100% Story Progress.

Cameras Hacked

The cameras to be hacked are mainly those that can be found in the Drug Busts. There are 17 cameras to be hacked for all the Drug Busts. That leaves 9 spy cameras that are not related to the Drug Busts. The way to unlock camera locations on the game’s map is to complete the “Impress Not Ping” Favor. You must figure out the password that consists of a 4-digit number that will reset if you don’t figure it out in 6 chances. A red colored digit means that the number is wrong. A yellow colored digit means that the number is correct but in the wrong place. A green colored digit means that the number is in the correct place.

Cases

Cases are assignments provided by Inspector Jane Teng. Cases tend to be divided into a number of leads. This means you have to complete lead one in order to begin lead two and so on. There are 4 cases to be completed over the course of the game.

Melee Training

Melee training consists of a melee skill tree. The melee skill tree is connected to how many Jade Statues you can find and return to the martial arts school based in North Point. Each Jade Statue returned will allow you to learn a new melee combat move. Therefore, there are 12 Jade Statues to be returned to the martial arts school. You can unlock the Jade Statue markers on the game’s map by completing “Tiffany’s Song” Favor. The screenshot below shows all 12 Jade Statues returned to the martial arts school.

The next screenshot shows the final melee combat move that needs to be unlocked.

The next screenshot displays the final melee combat move being practiced by Wei Shen.

Police Training

Police training consists of a police skill tree. You earn more Cop XP by completing Cases and Drug Busts. You can lower your Cop XP in Story Missions if you cause property damage or kill/hurt innocent people. I highly recommend completing Drug Busts as soon as possible to quickly increase your police skill tree.

Races

The street races of Hong Kong open up after the beginning of the “Hotshot” Case. More races will become available as you earn progressively faster cars and motorcycles. There are 18 street races in Hong Kong. There are 13 car races and 5 motorcycle races. The final races will be unlocked after completing the “Fast and Hot Sandra” Favor.

Triad Upgrades

Triad upgrades consist of a Triad skill tree. The Triad skill tree works well with the melee skill tree. You can only earn Triad XP from the Story Missions and DLC missions. Shooting out tires of pursuing vehicles or vehicles you are pursuing can increase your Triad XP. Headshots of enemies during gunfights can also help your Triad upgrades.

I have now reached the conclusion of this section.

What Is Not Required For 100% Completion

The items in this section regarding what is not required for 100% completion are most of the collectibles, particularly the collectibles not mentioned in the previous section of this guide. The other item not required for 100% completion is the Face Upgrade level. The Face Upgrade level is what you use to your advantage when in melee combat and it increases with every foe you defeat. The Face meter appears on the opposite side of your Health meter. When the Face meter is full, enemies can cower in front of Wei. The maximum Face Upgrade level is 10.

Collectibles

The collectibles that are not required to be collected for 100% completion are listed below.

Health Shrines: These are the shrines Wei Shen prays at for increasing maximum health. Health shrines are very useful for preserving Wei’s health. Wei’s health becomes more important later in the game as there are more powerful martial arts enemies and more dangerous gunfights.

Lockboxes: They are blue boxes scattered around the island of Hong Kong. They may contain cash and articles of clothing. Some lockboxes are guarded by thugs, so you will have to defeat the thugs in order to access them. Other lockboxes will require your hacking skills in order to open them.

Safehouse Upgrades: These upgrades can be found as you travel around Hong Kong and find black market vendors selling them. Safehouse upgrades (air conditioner, sofa set, and dragon tapestry to name a few) embellish the safehouses Wei earns throughout the story. The vendors appear as you unlock new safehouses. The locations of the vendors selling safehouse upgrades never show up on the game’s map.

I think it is important to note that I have confirmed that the gold stat awards do not in any way factor into achieving 100% completion. I don’t have all the gold awards but my stats indicate 100% completion.

I have reached the end of the guide for achieving 100% completion of Sleeping Dogs. I hope that this guide will help all of you readers who have an interest in becoming completionists in this game.
