[OUTDATED] How to move an addon into the custom folder

Overview

Black Mesa worskhop currently does not allow scripts or anything of the sort to be edited through workshop. Becuase of this, some addons will have to be moved to a custom folder. If you don’t already have a custom folder, here is the guide. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=502670746Now lets get started.

Finding the addon

Navigate to your steam common folder. Normally, this is located under C:Program Files (x86)steamsteamappscommon

In this folder is all of the local files for your games. Find Black Mesa, it should be pretty obvious.

If you still cant find it, maybe this will help

Next find the folder that says “bms”. In bms you should see a addons folder. Inside, there is a workshop folder. Open it.

Inside the workshop folder, you should see a big jumble of VPK files and pictures. Usually the addon your looking for has a picture. We’ll use part one of the 4K Blood addon as an example.

That picture has a number. Find the VPK file with the same number and copy it.

Now you have found the addon that you need to move.

Placing the file into the custom folder

Since you have copied your file, you can now go back to the bms and paste the file into your custom folder. Now unsubscribe from the addon and you have a fresh new (and working) addon.

When your done here, you probably should rename the VPK to something relevant with the addon, but DO NOT USE SPACES.
