Get your game to work properly

Overview

The port of Dead Space has several know issues. In this guide, I will help you get through them and get your game up an running in a few easy steps.

Mouse Stuttering

Issue #1 Mouse Lag

The mouse lag that your are experiencing is due to the games refresh setting. To combat this issue, you will need to do the following 2 steps.

  1. Enable Vsync via your video card software
    • Nvidia graphic card owners. You can enable Vsync from The NVIDIA Control Panel. You can access this by right clicking your desktop and selecting NVIDIA Control Panel.
    • Once the software has loaded, select Manage 3D settings from the 3D settings submenu. This will display information on the right panel of the software.
    • There will be two selectable tabs, Global Settings and Program Settings. You will want to select Program Settings. After clicking on this tab, there will be a dropdown menu with a list of installed programs that you can customized. From this menu select Dead Space. If Dead Space does not appear, then you will need to manually add it.
    • Once Dead Space has been selected, there are a host of options that can be customized. The one that we are concerned with is called Vertical sync.
    • Scroll down until you see this option listed. It is the next to last option in the list of settings.
    • Click Vertical sync, then click the dropdown menu next to vertical sync and select the ON option.
    • Next hit the apply button and exit the NVIDIA Control Panel.
    • AMD graphic card owners. You can enable Vsync from the Catalyst Control Center. You can access this by right clicking your desktop and selecting Catalyst Control Center.
    • Once the software has loaded, select the gaming tab.
    • Next select the 3D Application Settings sub menu. This will load a menu on the right panel of the software.
    • To force Vsync on for all applications, change the Wait for Vertical Refesh to always on.
    • To force Vsync on on for just Dead Space you will need to click +Add located just under the System Settings in the 3D Application Settings panel. Clicking this will bring up a box, and you will manually need to add the Dead Space exe file, and enable Vsync.
    • When then changes have been made, click Apply.
  2. Disable Vsync via the in game options menu.
