Stormbringer – Highest Bow DPS Deck – Grand Return FULL CLEAR video!

Overview

Deck and gameplay guide for Storm with Grand Return full clear video. The deck featured focuses on doing the highest bow (left click) dps possible, but I suggest alternatives as well.

Introduction

Unlike Squire of Light (see my other guide), there are a lot of different decks that can work on Storm. His super long range gives him the freedom to do damage in many different ways, or even run low-damage decks with other strengths and still win by kiting opponents around the map for a long time.

This particular guide however focuses on my favorite Storm deck: one that tries to maximize the damage done by the bow (fully-charged left clicks) and also its draw speed (atk speed). In theory, this kind of deck will allow you to kill both minions and bosses from a safe distance and as quickly as possible to minimize risk of taking damage.

Basic Gameplay Video

Basic Strategy:

  • Use fully charged bow shots from a safe distance as much as possible
  • Save your force shield and position yourself to get the most enemies to charge at you before you use it, which maximizes its damage as well
  • Use chain lightning pretty much on cooldown to help finish enemies faster and interrupt their attacks
  • Use quick bow attacks (the minimum charge) to interrupt enemies from attacking you if your other abilities are on cooldown.

If you are new to playing Stormbringer, in this video, I kill the very first boss of the Grand Return using no cards at all so you can get a good idea of how to survive using your abilities only. I mess up a lot and still win, so you get the idea:

Best Bow DPS Deck

If you don’t have all of these cards, try to substitute the ones you don’t have with something similar in mana cost and function.

For example: replace a 3-cost damage card with a different 3-cost damage card, or replace a 2-cost card draw card with a different card draw card. Don’t forget a couple healing/+hp cards either. I’m running Nano Injector and Dragoste de Ar Rayyan, which are great choices, but there are other possibilites.

Alternative deck choices: I don’t rely on Stormy too much in this deck, but the class cards that improve his speed and damage over time are VERY good if used together, especially at melting down bosses. If you want to sub at least the increasing Stormy damage card in, that would probably be a good idea. The issue with Stormy is that you have to stay pretty close to your target which puts you at great risk against most minion packs, but if you are good at dodging it can be very strong.

I don’t really reccomend using any chain lightning cards because they aren’t good against bosses, but another good way to play Storm is actually by just tanking up and building a ton of defense and +hp and healing cards. The 4-cost +90% pet hp card is great on Storm too, as a great strat can also be just following Brutus around. You can buff pet damage/hp through boons too, which is a strat I’ve used a few times.

Deck Usage / Boon Strategy

Boons:
I don’t really have a priority order for boons but here are some tips:

  • Try to get +1 mana once so you can play Excitable on turn 1 if you draw it and then the ideal play after that is blood pact into a 3 cost card
  • Grab +20 hp boon whenever it’s available. Buffing your max hp is more important to surviving harder battles than picking up any of the other minor boons, and it will also make Nanoinjector heal more since it is % based
  • Always grab the +8% healing per arena or +3hp per card played epic boons over others. They work so well together and with other +hp buffs/boons.
  • After the above boons, I tend to prefer going for atk speed over damage since that lets you draw your bow faster. I also like getting one extra card draw after mulligan. More than that isn’t good versus some mods.
  • If you ever see the stacking +15% dmg/movespeed epic boon pick that up, it’s nuts.

Deck Usage:

  • Always mulligan hard for 1 and 2 drop to play on turn 1 and 2 unless you have +mana boons/mods. Blood Pact turn 1 into a couple 2-cost cards or 4-cost is great too, or turn 2 into a 5-cost. Just make sure you have enough hp or healing to survive.
  • Try to mulligan for/draw Excitable and use it early, since it grows your atk speed over time.
  • Prioritize playing attack speed cards if your attack speed is low, then play damage cards, and lastly go for crit (assuming equal mana cost).
  • If you’re low on hp or in danger prioritize Nano Injector or Dragoste de Ar Rayyan of course.

Grand Return Campaign Full-Clear Run

Check out this video to see it all in action. I get some pretty bad boon RNG (almost all regular/minor boons) so it doesn’t show you my boon priority too well (but I described it above). Also don’t think I drew ANY %dmg on the final boss, so it looks kinda slow, but I guess one healing blue boon did save me at the end!
