Overview

A fast, efficient build geared towards great survivability and even better damage. End game viable, easy to farm for.

Introduction

Hey everyone, Caxius here.

I’ve been playing Chronicon pretty much since it’s release, and was pretty stoked to see all the new improvements of this most recent update. I’ve played many other ARPG’s over the years to include Diablo II (Median XL Mod included), D3, Titan Quest, Path of Exile, Torchlight and Titan Quest. I’ve got quite a bit of experience posting builds for those games as well, helping players balance out their builds and theory crafting.

I don’t typically follow the cookie cutter build style, i.e. “Warrior smash”, “Mage glass cannon”, “Paladin tank healer”. I tend to push builds out of their traditional zones of comfort and try different styles with each class. This is one of those builds.

So we have the Surge Templar. You will only use two active skills, the rest of the slots occupied by auras (4). You’ll also notice that there are a few trash skills used for the sake of advancing through the tree. Do not use these skills. They won’t add anything to your build and serve no purpose other than to allow you to advance in the tree. So without further delay…

And awaaaaaay we go!

NOTE: As this game is in active development, this guide is as well. Understand that there will be things I have overlooked as new content is released/reworked as the Dev continues work on the game.

Showcase

In this section I’ll just be showcasing the stats of the build, and show you that getting the illusive 1000 killstreak is very easy with this style of play, as well as list out the pros and cons of it.

Total Lightning Damage percentage, Health and Overpower. Overpower shows the amount damage that will ignore (penetrate) the defense of enemies. Very helpful and quite often overlooked.

CDR and ED. Absolutely key for this build to work. Without them both, you’re not going to do very well here.

Resistances in Anomaly. Not resting.

Resting damage numbers for your main skill, Surge.

Damage at full charges granted by items in Anomaly level 506. Notice the massive increase in damage output (this is AFTER the most recent damage number patch). Also, the CD time is only 2.1 seconds, with a duration of 7.4 seconds. This basically replaces your default attack, freeing up a slot for a skill to your liking (movement, survivability, healing, etc.).

You can literally fill the entire screen by casting just one or two orbs, as shown here.

And the illusive 1000 Kills Streak. This is more of an RNG accomplishment than anything. You have to be quick with your Anomaly tile resets, smart with your casting and quick with movement.

Leveling and Skills

So grinding is a major theme with this game. I’ve made a 400+ Warrior, 200+ Warden and 400+ Warlock. The common thing about all of them? You have to grind to get what you need. It’s a well known fact, and the sooner you accept it, the sooner you’ll begin to have fun with it and not see it as a tedious task, but a glorious adventure.

Leveling: So how and where do you level and farm? Storage Area. Point blank. You can find this place in the Upper Temple Halls. Find it, run it, log out, log in, run it again. Continue doing this until you’re level 100, upping the difficulty only when you can clear efficiently. At level 100, move on to Anomalies until you reach a cap in your clearing abilities, then return to the Storage Area until you can farm Legendary difficulty fast and efficient. Once you’re able to do that, and have picked up a few decent pieces of gear, you’re able to run Anomalies. You won’t start seeing really decent gear drop until Anomaly level 150 or above, but once you reach that, the rest is a piece of cake.

Crystals and Enchantment Mats: Save them until you reach higher levels where you have True Legendaries and Legendaries dropping regularly. If you gamble, enchant or otherwise before then, you’re just going to regret it later on. Trust me…RNGeezus hates everyone.

Skills: I’ll post pictures here for you with brief explanations of the skills.

Wrath: This is the bread and butter tree of your build. Here we have your main skill Surge, which casts an immobile electrical orb that will spawn multiple others that move out randomly. Combined with Static Overload and Ricochet, your Lightning skills will spawn additional orbs and they will bounce off of walls instead of expire.

Redemption: This is the second tree you want to focus on. The aura Plea increases your survivability by adding LOH which increases when activated. Picking up Devotion will increase the effectiveness of ALL auras, and Grace will add more survivabilty to your build.

Vengeance: This is the third tree you want to go ahead and pick up. Your second aura skill Bolster further increases your Physical resistance, and when activated will increase all of your others as well. Allocatin points in Tank, Fortress and Enchanted Armor will further your survivability.

Conviction: This tree focuses on a little more survivability with Salvation and Warmth and Intensity, but your main focus here are the passives Passion and Fervor for their respective damage increases. You won’t be using a shield for this build.

Mastery: You can allocate these points in any general order that you wish based on what you need while leveling, but this is the “Final” tree you want to work towards.

Gear

This is where all your bonuses come in to play. Believe it or not only one set, All For One, is the only necessary part of this build and it only takes up two slots. This is important to grab because it applies the rest of your element damage increases to element of the skill in your first slot (LMB). That is how you gain such an outrageous increase to your Lightning damage percentage. You could grab a second piece of the Thundercharged Battlegear and place it in the offhand for the 25% Lightning damage increase, but I found that the one I currently have works best. So, here we go:

Health, All Element Damage, Lightning Damage, CDR and ED. Pretty much the core stats you want for the build.

CDR, Resists, Lightning Damage. Good rolls, remember to augment.

The most important roll here, besides the set bonus, is the 15% chance to increase damage on kill by 20% for 10 seconds. This stacks 5 times and gives you that superior increase in damage. This is absolutely vital for late game and is a must to roll. Lightning Damage, CDR and ED as well.

Similar to the damage bonus on your amulet, this one instead increases your movement speed. Essential as this build lacks a movement skill at its core. All damage elements, Lightning Damage, CDR, ED. Core.

Pretty good stat randomization here that is very difficult to find on other offhands. Added Damage, All Element Damage, Lightning Damage, ED.

Great health stats, All Resists, 30% damage with all Magic Skills. Key. I added and augmented the resists to add to my weakest ones. Adjust rolls as necessary.

Damage, All Element Damage, ED. Great utility sword.

Great boots here. I personally prefer this particular set of boots because it makes you immune to traps, spike traps and you can walk through items and enemies. You’re never slowed and don’t get a movement penalty walking through things. You can try to roll the no pulling stat, but that really doesn’t bother me that much. It’s preference, really. All Resists, Health.

Summary

Pros:

  • Insane clearing speed
  • Very high survivability
  • Relatively easy to farm for gear
  • No damage cap

Cons:

  • Low visibility at times.
  • Will lag with high density areas
  • CDR and ED dependent
  • No movement skill

Enchant Priorities:

  • CDR
  • ED
  • All Element Damage
  • Lightning Damage
  • Health
  • Resists
  • Damage

Mastery Priorities:

  • CDR
  • Static Overload Chance
  • Effect Duration
  • Surge Damage
  • Overload
  • All Element Damage
  • Magic Skill Damage
  • Resists
