Overview
A lot of people here say that Herodotus, The Infinite is one of the easiest bosses, and because of this, there are no real walkthroughs on how to take him on. But I think otherwise. Unless you’re playing a barbarian or have huge defense, you can quickly be overwhelmed by the sheer number of slimes, as even the small ones do quite a lot of damage, and me personally, i had a lot of trouble. But with a bit of luck and some clever thinking (if i do say so myself) it can be done in under a few minutes.
Briefing
Herodotus, The Infinite, in case you didn’t already know, is a giant slime. This means that when you lower his health enough, he splits. He does this about 3-4 times, until you can actually kill portions of him. The arena in which you fight him consists of a large, dark room, with a few platforms about halfway up, and three lengths of floor spikes at the bottom. Herodotus can jump, and the bigger he is, the higher he jumps. he does lots of damage to low-ish level players (I was level 100-odd and was still getting beaten). Getting the picture?
What You Need
So, to start with, here are a few things that I used to beat him, and some things that aren’t really necessary but would give you a very nice edge.
- Around level 100-120, with lots of health and armour
- The Lich King/Queen class
- The Crow Storm spell
- P.A.D (no foot pulse, allows you to walk on the floor spikes without activating them)
- Two flight runes (I had two, you can go for more, but any less would make it difficult)
- Any other useful traits (i.e. ADHD for bonus speed, Endomorphism for less knockback, Gigantism for longer reach etc.)
- Preferably Guardian armour, or anything close (Ranger armour may help, not tested)
- The strongest sword you have (I had a Sky sword, but really anything will do, as long as you have your attack up to about 60+)
- High Intelligence will make this fight much, much easier, but isn’t really necessary.
- Some mad jumping skills
How To Win
Firstly, you need to find the boss room. Ridiculous, right? I’d recommend a Barbarian for this, as they have a lot of health and make looking in the Darkness much easier. Once you’ve found it, make sure you lockdown the castle, because you dont want to lose it. Go in, try and take on Herodotus, and die. Pick an heir. This heir really needs to be a Lich King/Queen for this to work, so keep trying if you don’t get one. It needs to have the Crow Storm ability, and preferably P.A.D. You probably won’t get it on your first go, so just keep trying, and make sure to lockdown the castle every time. If you don’t get it, you may as well go in and fight Herodotus. When you die, pick a new heir. The manor upgrade for shuffling your children can help a lot with this, allowing you six choices at a time instead of three. Once you’ve got your Lich, head into the castle, but don’t go and fight him yet.
You need to build up some HP and MP, so all you have to do is farm around the castle for a bit. One hit kills on the things in there can help greatly. Do this until you have around max HP, then use your special ability to convert it to MP. Get to max HP again.
Once you’ve done this, you can head on in, pick up any health and mana things you need along the way, because you need to be almost full. When you get into the arena, your first task is to split Herodotus as much as possible. Don’t worry about picking on just one. Just attack everything you see, and make sure you stay up high, and take out the mages asap. Once you’ve got him into lots of little pieces, SPAM CROW STORM. At about 46 damage per hit, I managed this. When you run out of mana, just convert more HP into it, and spam it some more. you should hopefully end up with no mana left, a bit of health, and (ideally) no Herodotus. If he ain’t dead, then that’s fine. Jump down and take out the rest with your sword. I can almost garauntee that they will be tiny and have very little health.
Thank Me Later
Viola!! Herodotus, The Infinite is toast. Not so infinite now, huh?
I really hope this guide helps those of you who are stuggling with, in my opinion, the most annoying boss in the history of everything. Let me know if it does help, OR if it doesn’t. I’d really love to know what you guys think, and if I can improve! If you want more info, or maybe a more detailed description of how to pull this off, leave me a comment. If you guys would like, I can look into doing guides for the other bosses aswell. Thankyou, and good luck!!!
