Overview
This brief guide explains module efficiency such as power plants, hubs and processing stations.
Power Plants
All tiers of power plants consume 1 coal every 100 seconds. This also equates to 3 coal every 5 minutes, per plant.
Since all plants use same rate of coal, it’s more coal efficient to use higher tier power plants, depending on your drillship spacing situation. Tier 1 provides 5 energy per second, Tier 2 10, Tier 3 15.
Below is a table showing amount of coal consumed per eruption cycle, per power plant:
Tip: Press and hold G when you are away from your drillship to automatically send it underground. When underground your ship is immune to enemy attacks and all modules are turned off and stop energy use. Press G to surface your ship and it’ll surface at the nearest available location.
Ceiling Modules
The only modules that can be placed on ceilings/top of drillship are power plants and storage modules. Be sure the ceiling have walls or ceiling modules can’t be placed.
Storage modules do not use energy.
Station & Hub Efficiency
You can have multiple stations for each production/research/refinery module, but processing speed drops proportionally. Higher tier modules process faster than lower tier modules.
For example, if you have a refinery module and 2 refinery stations, it’ll take twice as long to refine the same type of ore per station, when you are running both stations. Adding a same tier refinery module will double the refining speed, which brings it to the same refining speed as a 1 refinery module and 1 refinery station. Ratios matter.
The same principle applies to production/research/refinery hubs.
