Overview
A guide about the movements about the enemies throughout the game, and the best way that I have found to defeat them.I will try to list the enemies in the order of appearance, as well as keep spoilers low, but no promises. I used Arche for basically 95% of the game, so the guide’s tatics towards the enemies will be mainly focused on Arche. This guide also uses a lot of animated .gif files, so if you have slow internet, please be patient. If the gifs seem choppy or have weird colors, please try to ignore it, as I had to reduce the quality of the images to keep them relatively small. Also, if some of the enemy’s movements seem really fast, that is probably because of my need to reduce the file size, so expect them about 2x slower than what is shown. If some pictures don’t show up, press the back button a few times, then try to view this guide again.
Standard Enemies
The standard enemy of RPG Games. These slimes tend to use a jump attack, which can be countered by an upward thrust by Arche. They also like to use a tentacle attack a lot. Even though they seem easy, the slimes can take you down if you are not careful. A note: as you progress through the story and encounter more slimes, the range of their tentacle attack increases, so be careful.
Not much different from the green slime. About the same range with it’s tentacle attack, maybe a little bit stronger attacks and HP. Same movement methods and strategy.
It tends to jump around a lot, using jump attacks. Also likes to bite at you when it is close. Fairly easy enemy to deal with, simple slash when it would “bite” you, do an upward slash when it is coming down from it’s jump attack. Early on in the game, when you get the downstab ability, this is an easy way to get rid of these enemies.
It’s main attack is a dive attack. The best method to deal with these is an upward slash when they are about halfway through their dive, or justjumping a lot and doing midair slashes.
This seems like a relatively tough enemy early on, but it is fairly easy to deal with. It has two attacks: a stinger attack which is fairly easy to dodge, and a pollen attack, which is harder to dodge and puts you to sleep. The stinger attack you can just jump over or use guard(press up key)against. I recommend trying to stay airborne as long as possible to dodge the pollen attack. The easiest way to take them down is to keep jumping and use midair slashes.
This enemy uses the same attacks as the snake. This enemy is a little bit faster and stronger, and his attacks can poison you, so watch out.
The merkid is a water enemy that uses a trident to attack you. It’s attacks are a slash with the trident, a jab, or an upward jab if you try to jump over it. Be careful about getting trapped in between two of them, because their upward attack can prevent you from escaping, and can end up getting you killed. Block often with this enemy, and slash when you see an opening.
Same attacks using the trident as the merkid, except this one can use magic. Uses the Diamond Dust attack that Sana has, as well as healing. Always try to do at least a simple slash when the magic circle starts to appear, to interrupt them and prevent them from casting the spell. This tactic applies to all magic users in this game.
This merkid is pretty much the same as the Mage Merkid, except it has more HP, stonger attacks, and uses stronger magic spells.
These kangaroo like enemies are quite agressive, and often actively try to attack you. They try to kick you a lot, and if you are out of range, they will throw an acorn. Try to stay behind them as much as possible, because their kicks can often stunlock you, and prevent you from getting up. They also have an upward attack, to try to prevent you from jumping over it. This enemy also attacks in rapid sucession, so I would reccommend guarding a lot. If you have the wheel slash attack unlocked, try using spamming that attack, because it has almost no delay, so it is easy to pull of sucessive attacks.
Its another slime. This one’s HP is bigger, and it’s attack range with it’s tentacle attack is longer, so you will need to give it some more distance. Same tactics apply to this slime as the others.
A little bit stronger than the previous bat, and a little bit faster too. Same tactics apply to this bat as the previous one.
An agressive enemy that is really good with a sword. It uses slashes, downstabs and more. You should try to use the same attack that it uses in order to block it. You should also try to use attacks when the enemy creates an opening. The wheel attack is also very useful to attack and to get behind it, and attack the enemy.
A mushroom enemy. It’s attacks are using the “head” of the mushroom to attack left or right, as well as spreading sleep gas, as well as a jump and ground pound attack.. the best method is to stay a fair distance away, and then jump in to attack, being mindful of the head attack. Jump out of the way when he starts to spew the cloud of gas. I would also recommend using the downstab repeatedly on it, making sure after the attack finishes, to get out of range of his head attack.
A large slow enemy but hits hard. Mainly uses it’s club to attack you. I highly recommend using the wheel attack skill to attack this enemy because you can hurt it and get behind it fast, and keep doing that in rapid succession to defeat it. Basically, you should try to use Arche’s speed against how slow it is. If you aren’t quick, you will get hit, and the hits from the club are unblockable. The hits normally take away 15-30 points of your health, so be careful.
An org that uses a bow instead of a club. It is still fairly stong, but the attacks don’t do as much/are easier to dodge. It will either try to shoot you with arrows, or thrust out his bow if you are too close. It is fairly easy to deal with, but can be a pain if there are other Orgs to deal with too. Also watch out if it is at the edge of a ledge that you want to jump to, as their arrows interrupt your jump.
Same as the normal mothbee, except it poisons instead of putting you to sleep. I forget if the stinger attack can poison you or not, I need someone to clarify this. Otherwise, the attacks are still the same, and same tactics apply. It might be a little stronger and have more HP.
This enemy likes to attack you with it’s claw a lot, and also jumps around a fair bit too. It has really fast attacks, so expect to be guaring or jumping a lot. If you have the twirling slash, I would use that in rapid sucession, along with the wheel slash to get behind it quickly. It seems to quick to use a downstab, but just try to get behind it and then attack quickly.
Standard Enemies Part 2
This is the stronger version of the cocorat. It has more HP, stronger attacks, and is considerably faster. Watch out for it’s kicks, as they can easily stunlock you into being “down” then kick you down again the instant that you get back up again. The same tactics apply to this one as the previous one.
Oh boy. ANOTHER slime. What a surprise. NOT.
Anyway, it seems the same as the yellow slime. It’s range might have increased for it’s tentacle attack, but I can’t tell. Same method to attack as the previous three times. It can paralyze you.
Same as the standar one, except this one releases poison spores instead. Same tactics to defeat it, as always.
Same as the merkids, except this one uses fire attacks. It uses the Seeker spell, so be sure to attack it before it can cast it. Same tactics apply to this one as defeating the merkids.
This enemy has two attacks: breathe fire, and hit you with it’s tail. You can normally dodge the fire attacks, as it stops for a second to breathe fire. And the tail attack should be easy to avoid too. I recommend jumping and slashing at it midair.
This bat has a lot more HP, and is faster and stronger. They might poison you, but I can’t remember if they do or not. I would appreciate it if someone could clarify this. Same tactics apply to this bat as the others.
Oh boy, a ghost. I recommend you get the ghostbuster from the shop if you haven’t already when you are about to go into the first area where you encounter ghosts. This enemy flies anound and attacks you with it’s hands. The ghosts can take QUITE a few hits before they are defeated, so watch out. When they are about to attack you, try doing an uppercut slash, or jumping out of the way. I would recommend jumping around and slashing at them midair.
A faster and stonger version of the snake. It attacks faster, and has quite a bit more hp, besides doing more damge. It also can paralyze you. I recommend the same tactics as the other snakes, and be careful not to get paralyzed.
A skeleton who attacks you with swords. It normally does simple slashes, though it does do uppercuts if you try to jump over it, or downstabs every now and then. I recommend trying the wheel slash, or just being aggressive and counter his swords and then try to find an opening.
A ghost that can use magic. It will either cast the two reddish spheres that go in differnt directions, or the singular purple one tat can hit you a little bit quicker. It will also try to heal when wounded. Same tactics as the normal ghost, and just jump and attack it when you see it trying to bring up the magic circle to cancel the spell.
The young version of YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE. Easily one of the hardest and most annoying enemy groups in the game. It is an airborne enemy that will divebomb very quickly at you, as well as attack you with it’s wings. It also has an annoying tendency to fly down, grab you fly up, and drop you. You take a fair amount of damage because of this, you end up being “down” for a little bit, and the first area where you encounter these enemies will have you end up having to backtrack, because they drop you at a previous area. If you have the “Full Moon” attack, use that exclusively, as it is the most effective way to eliminate them. If you don’t, try using the “twirling slash” attack on them. If you have neither, just keep jumping and slash them midair. Their grab and drop attack can easily stunlock you, so be careful.
Another Kobold, but a lot stronger, faster and more agressive. Try to defeat this one the same way you did the other type of Kobold.
YOUR. WORST. NIGHTMARE. Same as the syoung harpies, except these have more health, an attack that can confuse you and healing. They do not have a “magic circle” that appears when they are going to heal, or do the attack which sends out song notes to confuse you, so it is hard to interrupt. Also, if one of your party member gets confused, expect another party member to die.
Another slime. This one has the ability to duplicate itself, so you will want to take them down quickly, or you will have ~15 pink slimes attacking you. Same tactics apply.
The last slime that you will encounter. It’s attacks can poison you. Same tactics as before.
Similar to the Org Archer, except these are a lot stonger, and have some armor. same tactics as before.
This is similar to the Org, but it has a sword, and a shield. You actually have to switch tactics slightly, since the shield makes frontal attacks practically ineffictive. I recommend the wheel slash attack and the twirling slash one after each other to attack it. The wheel slash will normally get you behing it, and the twirling slash will bring you back in front of it again, hurting it on the way forward and backwards. If it jumps up, use an uppercut on it.
Similar to the fire dragon pup, except it shoots ice breath. It also has an attack were it shoots a projectile that seperates into 4 sections, also an ice attack. Same tactics as the fire dragon pup.
Similar to the skeletal soldier, except it is a lot faster, stronger attacks, and more HP. Use same tactics as before.
Same as the ghost mage, except it is a lot stronger and has more HP. Use same tactics as before.
Standard Enemies Part 3
Similar to the Aquamage that you encountered early on, except this one focuses more on attack, rather than defense. It often sets the floor on fire, or use the Seeker spell to attack you. If you get too close, it attack you with its wand. It is only really a threat if it can cast magic. Otherwise, its really easy. So be sure to interrupt its magic attacks. I recommend using the wheel slash when it it on the ground, and the full moon when it is airborne. Also just jumping and slashing works well too.
A faster, stonger sabercat with more HP. Use the same tactics as before.
Another Harpy, except this one’s song puts you to sleep instead of confusing you. They are also a lot stronger, faster, and have more HP. Use the same tactics as you did on the harpies.
General Attack Tips and Other Information
Some attacks have very little delay, like the wheel slash and the twirling slash. This makes it easy to get through a large group of enemies and damage them quickly. The full moon attack is REALLY helpful against airborne enemies. If you are up against a large group of enemies, use Sana’s Mirror Image spell to create duplicates of you, which can help you slice through enemies very quickly, as well as rack up large combos. Keep jumping when dealing with airborne enemies, it makes you harder to hit, and if you are on the ground, you are an easy target.
There were a couple of places that I wasn’t sure about something. If you can confirm it, or if I am missing something from here, like an enemy, please post it in the comments. Also, if you have found a method of attack that you think is better than mine, please post it in the comments so that I can add to it. If anything else you can think of needs fixing, please ask/comment about it.
I hope that this guide is helpful to everyone out there.
