Overview
This guide explains how offline rewards are calculated and how you can use that to get more leaves while offline. This can be used to best effect when getting combination leaves like Obsidian or Benitoite leaves. Includes a better way to get your new leaves to the seeds level. (requires trading education BLC upgrade)
Introduction
I’ve been searching around and there is exactly 1 post I’ve found anywhere that actually explains how offline rewards are calculated, so I’m putting them in this guide so other players like me won’t be stuck for longer than they need to. When you haven’t unlocked obsidian seeds, it will take forever to get to them without using either of the two methods to speed up the process I will be outlining in this guide.
How Offline rewards are calculated
The first method for get leaves like obsidian faster is to optimize your offline rewards. Before we do that however, we’re going to need to learn how that works
You can see all of this under the stat page at the top
The base stat that is used is “max gained per second” stat for the leaf you want
this guy right here
Here you can see that my “max gained per second” stat for obsidian is 6.97 million.
At the top of the stats page there is a large button that says “Show offline rewards”
Click it and you will see what you actually get while offline
Notice how my offline rewards are higher than my max base stat, this is because I own this gem shop upgrade: “Offline Profits +750%” costs 75 Gems, Increase your Offline leaf reward by +750%
If I did not have that upgrade this would be a little over 1.97 million. That is about 28% of my base “max gained per second” stat. I would assume yours would be around there too.
So, the way to optimize offline rewards would be to get that stat as high as possible. We will do this by grouping up as many as possible of the leaf we want, and then push it all off within 1 second.
IMPORTANT NOTE! This stat will only last for your current prestige/crunch
Optimizing offline rewards (slower than method 2)
Now that we know what to number to raise, let’s go raise it!
DISCLAIMER!! This guide can be used for any of the leaves, I will be using obsidian leaves as an example.
Before we make our leaf pile, we need some things:
PETS :
- Doggo 2m BLC – Increases combo rewards by 50%.
- (optional) Owlo 2m BLC – Increases merged leaves count by +2.
GEM SHOP:
- (optional) “All Leaves +750%” costs 75 Gems, Increase your leaf reward by +750%.
OBSIDIAN LEAVES:
- Obsidian Marketing 5/5
OTHER LEAVES:
- lava + ice fertilizer 50/50
- (optional) exotic fertilizer 0/50
UNIQUE LEAVES:
- Glitter Leaf: Increases combo rewards by 300%
BLC SHOP:
- Master of leaves >18 ~1m BLC
- What the Combo >18 ~1.5m BLC
- (optional) Blow Power Controller 25b BLC | gives you control over how far you push leaves
ARTIFACTS:
- (optional) Gravity Ball – Spawns a gravity ball which attracts leaves.
Okay. You got the stuff, lets get pilin’. I have included some helpful images 😉
a. Go to the hidden sea. | If you are doing this in an area with enemies, they can eat up your pile
b. Turn off ALBs at the top of the settings tab and turn on “right click locks player” near the bottom.
c. Equip a middling power blower. My preference is the Large Paint Roller.
d. Buy and equip anything that will increase your combo. (don’t buy too much from obsidian because we are saving that up)
e. Equip Owlo the pet. (Increases the obsidian you get from merging from 2 to 4)
Go around the edges pushing all of the leaves towards the center of the screen
Obsidian Leaves are created when 3 lava and 3 ice leaves are within a close distance to each other (~1cm square on my monitor) so when we push them all on top of each other we get all these obsidian leaves.
Notice how I have a ton of exotic leaves there too, if you didn’t get any fertilizer, those would not be there. Don’t worry if you do though, it will just take a little longer to get a great pile.
Obsidian Note: Using the Gravity Ball Artifact here can help, but because it sucks in the regular leaves too it doesn’t actually save much time. You do end up with a lot of obsidian leaves in the middle, but all the trash leaves it takes in too makes it only eh, and you have a limited supply. This is better used at the end.
Other Leaves note: Using the gravity ball here is actually pretty helpful, but only do it after you’ve made a sizable pile of the leaves you want. Because it will also take all the leaves you don’t want, the best use for this is to localize all of your leaves so there is a smaller chance for enemies to get rid of some.
Continue doing part a, but when few lava/ice leaves are spawning get rid of the trash leaves (ie. exotic and regular leaves here) if you have extra of either lava or ice you may want to get rid of some here as well.
Get rid of the leaves by taking a swipe at your pile with your blower. The exotic leaves go much further than the ones you want, and the lava/ice leaves get conveniently separated from the obsidian leaves if you need to thin the herd a little.
Once you’ve done the swipe, stick your man where I drew mine and they’ll make your unwanted leaves go bye-bye. Try to be quick so that you move the leaves you want as little as possible.
Now keep doing this: pushing leaves into the center, getting rid of trash, repeat. Once you’re almost done, go to part b:
Once you have a fairly optimized pile, you start running out of leaves.
Make sure you equip the Doggo pet here for later. It increases your combo by a lot and you want it maxed by the time you get to the “pushing the leaves offscreen” part.
There are a max number of leaves that can be spawned at one time, and you will need to start picking individually which leaves to keep or get rid of with lava/ice depending on how much you have. Regular or exotic leaves will take up spots that lava or ice could be in.
See how there are almost no more leaves other than obsidian? Now I have to get rid of regular or exotic leaves as I see them, and push all ice and lava leaves into the center.
When I’m at the very end, there are maybe 10 leaves left that are not obsidian, my strategy changes. I get 3 of ice or lava in the middle, and I get rid of that type of leaf until I use the leaves in the middle.
Of course, if you don’t want to go this optimized you don’t have to, but it’s not very hard and it makes you that much faster.
Now you have finished your pile, get ready to push it off screen
This pile is completely maxed. I have 5/6 of the leaves needed to get more obsidian, but there are no more leaves spawning, and there are no leaves hiding under the trees on the sides.
Next we equip the “hands” blower and get our pile as close together as possible. Then we push our pile very close to the edge of the screen but not past it. Remember we want to get as high leaves/second as possible.
You don’t have to get it that close, this was an accident, and my combo isn’t at max because I am writing this guide as I take these screenshots.
Note 1: If you can’t make your pile very compact, focus on making it flat rather than a ball, the reason for this is because we want as many obsidian leaves to leave the screen at the same time as possible.
Note 2: If you have the Blow Power Controller you can use it here to get your pile really compact, raising your chance of getting a higher leaves/second
Note 3: The best use for the Gravity Ball Artifact is right here, go up to the edge of the screen, plop down that bad boy, and all of your obsidian leaves will be on top of each other. Now you have a literally perfect concentrated pile. The Gravity Ball negates your blow power while it is active, so use that time to move your blower far from the pile.
Finally, getting that sweet max leaves/second
If you have the Blow Power Controller you want it set to max here.
Right click on the opposite edge of the garden screen from your pile to leave your guy there, then equip the HIGHTECH DRILL blower to push your leaves off the screen. We want this one because it will push the leaves off as quickly as possible, ensuring that we will have the most off within 1 second.
Go back to the garden screen, move your cursor right up against the inside edge of your pile(the bottom in my case), then right click to unstuck your guy. This will teleport your guy to your cursor and he will push all of the leaves in the pile off at once (hopefully all in 1 second)
Enjoy your newfound high offline rewarding leaf! Now rest easy being offline (or in the cheese area) and actually earning obsidian faster than when you were online (until you get the seeds)
This demonstration actually improved my previous max, probably because I thought of using the drill while writing this, I used bellows last time.
Now that you have seen this, you should know there is potentially shorter/easier method to get to seeds
The Trading Method (great but luck dependent)
Yeah, I got my offline reward to 15,000,000/sec, but that will still take over 2 days of waiting to get to the first seed upgrade… How can I do this faster? Well you already know how if you read the title of this section: Trading!
Once you have unlocked a leaf type, you will sometimes get trades for them. We can use this to get large amounts of the leaf we want hopefully quickly. Because the trades you get are random, it might actually take longer to do this than if you did offline, which is why I did both. Luckily for me though, I got the trades I needed literally right after I successfully did the offline trick.
Important Note: You get 1 cheese for every trade, and you can trade for extra cheese too. Cheese will allow you to re-roll the trades you have, though it only takes waiting 5 minutes normally anyway. Because the base trade time is 2 hours you have to be somewhat thrifty with your cheese.
There is 1 MANDATORY BLC upgrade to do this and 1 IMPORTANT upgrade to get.
First, the MANDATORY one:
Here is Default and Scientific numbers for your convenience.
You only NEED 1 upgrade into this, I just already have 2.
The reason we get this is because without it we cannot trade enough leaves to get anything substantial. I mean look at this trade!
37,200 leaves?? GROSS! compare to the price:
That’s why we need that upgrade, it raises the price and return for the trades.
take a look at this one:
Thats what I’m talking about! 5 trillion is directly to level 1 seeds!
Notice the 2 in Standard Delivery [2], that means that is a level 2 trade. Another one:
Even better! and still level 2! This took me straight to seeds level 10.
Here is an example of a level 3 trade, see the even higher numbers?
The IMPORTANT upgrade is Leaf Trader (3/3). This is so you see 5 trades at once, raising your chances of getting the good stuff.
Finally, there is 1 special pet you will want to streamline the trading process.
- Penguino : Decreases trade delivery time by 25% and refresh time by 10%.
Trading ladies and gentlemen! The quick way to large amounts of any leaves you unfortunately have to grind until you get seeds.
Side Note: You will want/need at least trading education level 1 to do the “unlock leaves you don’t have” trading trick. That is basically just unlock a new leaf (even if you don’t have the area for it) and then trade to get a lot of that leaf. Use your new leaves to unlock the next one, repeat. Make sure to get the seeds for those leaves at the same time so you don’t have to waste a while on it later! Now you can get the Benitoite leaves while only being in volcano!
Side note on seeds
In addition, Obsidian and Benitoite seeds are so rare it’s faster to just trade anyway. Only problem with that is the increasing cost for getting your education high enough to get as much as you would with seeds (sad).
Important Note: Upgrade Discount in the coins shop lowers the price of seeds. If you are going for them, make sure you have that relatively high, or even maxed.
Maybe once you get seeds to 100 it is fine to just wait for seeds? idk.
Also for seeds, fertilizer level affects how often those seeds spawn (hence why the Obsidian / Benitoite seeds are so rare) so theoretically if you bought no fertilizer you would get way more Obsidian / Benitoite seeds compared to normal. I’ll test this and maybe even remember to edit this part.
So I tested it for about 5 hours and what happened is everything except the basic leaf seed and the higher tier seeds basically never spawned. I think this is because I couldn’t not buy those fertilizers as they persist through BLC’s. The only way I can test this for real is after I MLC and I’m nowhere near there yet. Sorry!
Also don’t forget about the seed bag artifact!
Conclusion
Offline rewards ::: 4/10 Offline, but really slow. Only viable if you are terribly unlucky or if there is ever a no trading challenge. Trades work offline too you know! You just have to be online to catch em.
Trading ::: 8/10 Really good and scales up incredibly high with the numbers, downside is it can take a while for the trades you actually want to show up. At least there’s cheese. If you are going to be gone for more than 2 hours you may as well take all the trades if only for the cheese.
Thank you for reading this guide!
This is the first guide I’ve ever made. I think I did pretty darn good all things considering. If anyone know more info/knows I got something wrong please tell me! I should be active enough to answer any questions in a timely manner, but if you say something >1 month since I created this guide it may either be out of date, or I’m just not playing anymore.
Please Thumbs up so this guide can get rated! That would be Very Goodâ„¢
This took me 5 and a half hours. If I want to do more I need to work on efficiency
Also I have done so many typo edits on this. Holy crap.
Big thanks to my friend Bill. A real inspiration for me. (he’s chill)
