Aaron’s Guide to Stealth Robbing the Military Base

Overview

Robbing the Military Base may seem hard at first, but with a small trick, you can easilly get yourself some explosives with almost no tools.

Introduction

Having Issues getting through the dozen soldiers to rob some explosives? Then this is the guide for you! I’ll show you how to easilly rob the military base with no weapons and no shots fired from either side and still leave with a few sets of soldiers gear and of course, all the high explosives you need.

What you Need

The Only Item you need for this Simple tactic is a pair of handcuffs. You will be using them on a Soldier, so you can simply steal a pair back afterwards anyway.

Robbing the Base

So, to pull this off, you need to get a boat, the cooloff for driving without a license is only 30 seconds, so it doesnt matter if you steal one. You can find boats on the river that runs through the city:

After you have acquired a boat, you need to get to a certain spot Behind the Military base. Note that you will only get the tresspassing crime upon stepping foot on the military base, and AI takes a few seconds to respond that a crime has been commited nearby. This tactic takes advantage of both of these facts. You should park it somewhere around here:

As marked above there is a guard round the corner. He is the only guard in the immediate area, and will be the one you are handcuffing. So, you need to quickly jump on the Base, run up to him before he notices you and handcuff him. This gives you a few minutes to grab the explosives, loot him and get out of there. No other guard is close enough to respond to the crime, so with him down, you are safe.

Looting the guard and taking the explosives only takes about 30 seconds, so If you want to, you can take his items and wait for them to respawn to get 2 sets of Combat armour and guns. (Haven’t tested if you have enough time to wait for a third regen before he escapes the cuffs, so maybe don’t push your luck)

Side-Note: If you time it right, theres no reason you cant just keep uncuffing and recuffing the soldier using his supply of cuffs to update his timer, letting you in theory stay for as long as you want, taking all the explosives and combat gear you could ever need as they regen. (I tried this and got 4 regens of loot then left, the only problem I could possibly see to stop you from being there indefinitely is the boat despawning)

After taking what you want, that’s it, Jump on your boat and get out of there. My advice would be to park it next to the small apartment and run in to store items, as the multiple counts of robbery mean you are now highly KOS. (Also keep in mind that if there are too many guards, you are now in possession of an RPG to blow them into next week).

Having a second player can help with distracting cops on your arrival to the mainland, as quite a few times I’ve ran into the apartement and barely been able to put the explosives in a chest before being swiss cheesed by 5 Police running through the door.

UPDATE: I tested, the boat despawns after a few minutes, I found that due to the newly aquired Firepower, I was able to blow up the guards and fight my way out in a stolen armoured jeep, but it is a bit hard to do. (Also learned the hard way not to use an RPG in a Vehicle). A Workaround is to simply jump in the Boat every few mins to stop it from despawning.

UPDATE ON UPDATE: If you’re stockpiling explosives and plan to be there for a while, you can simply wait out your wanted timer for an easy exit. As long as you only steal the explosives and not the guard uniform, you wont get any new crimes, so once the all of them are up, you can just waltz out the front door with no resistance, as your tresspassing crime has expired.

Thanks for reading!

Hopefully this helped you take some explosives and combat gear from the military base. Feel free to comment if you have any questions about it.

NOTE AS OF VERSION 0.80

As of Version 0.80, the Explosives are locked in a Safe, giving a Crime of robbery upon stealing them. This doesn’t exactly change much with this strategy, except the fact that to get out without being wanted, you now need to not steal explosives till the crime wears off.

However, The 0.80 Update also has a benefit. Due to the position of the guard, there are no witnesses to his Handcuffing/Robbery. This means you can now freely rob him with no consequences, as you wont gain crimes for it.

Essentially, the 2 crimes have now switched. You WILL get a crime for stealing the explosives, but you WONT get one from robbing the Soldier.

The rest of the guide is still pretty accurate, you still take a boat, handcuff the NPC, and steal away.
