Keys Locations in Commandos 2 – Men of Courage

Overview

This guide is focused on providing you with the locations of the keys (in the missions that feature them). Once I saw a comment of a person unable to find the keys for Castle Colditz, so hopefully, this guide will prove to be useful. 🙂

Intro

In some missions like Castle Colditz (mission 9), it is not very useful to find the keys. Also, in that particular mission you may not even realise that you can find a pair of keys.

However, this guide is made to help you get the keys mainly in the missions that you need them the most, and also to help the more advanced players find the keys in other missions as well. 🙂

Mission 1 – Night of the Wolves

This mission features 1 set of keys.

The location for these are in the building where the assistant is:

They are used in two places:

1) They are used to open the door where the thief must take the enigma machine:

2) They can also be used to open the two doors towards the radio. In other words, if you have completed all objectives, and your thief has the keys, but you want to open the door to access the radio with Natasha, you cannot do this:

Mission 2 – Das Boot, Silent Killers

This mission has one set of keys.

These are found on the “jailer” (the enemy that is in a lieutenant uniform) on the roof of the bunker where the submarine is situated:

You can avoid using these keys if you throw a grenade with your Sapper through the door where the sailors are (you will not kill them, because you have not yet saved them – I know, really convenient):

However, you do need to have these keys to open the door where the captain of the submarine is captured:

Mission 3 – White Death

This mission features 2 sets of keys.

You may avoid using both of these keys if you wish (or if you cannot find them) [by throwing a grenade with your Sapper].

The first set of keys is found on the officer in the image below, and you can use them to open the door of the building where the Green Beret is captured:

The second pair of keys are in the inventory of one of the two riflemen guarding the room where the sailors, Spy and Thief are in:

Mission 4 – Target: Burma

This mission does not contain any pairs of keys.

Mission 5 – Bridge Over the River Kwai

This mission contains one pair of keys; however, you can avoid using them, if you want to, or if you cannot find them.

They are located in the inventory of the “jailer” in the image below:

These keys they are used to unlock the door to the building where Guinness debriefs you on how to blow up the bridge:

However, if you have killed the jailer near many other enemies and you cannot find him, you can just select Guinness, kill every enemy in that house (on both rooms), and use the other door (and then the ladder) to enter from the other side of the building.

Mission 6 – The Guns of Savo Island

This mission features one set of keys.

These can be found in the eastern tunnels, here:

Here, you kill the enemy in brown uniform (so that the two officers will come there once they see him). Then, the idea is to kill the enemy who is nearest to the wall (by throwing a knife), and then going there to punch and tie him (and retrieve the fallen knife).

As you can see here, the officer’s point of view is limited in the sense that he cannot see above the big table, which means that you can easily walk in from the right door and punch him to take the keys [Side note: also, I do not think that you need to neutralise any other enemies to take the three bonus books in this room].

These keys are used to unlock the two Tunnels doors:

1) the east door:

2) the west door:

Mission 7 – The Giant of Haiphong

This mission does not contain any pairs of keys.

Mission 8 – Saving Private Smith

This mission does not contain any keys.

Mission 9 – Castle Colditz

This mission Does contain one set of keys; although, like I mentioned before, this does not play any vital role in terms of the objectives.

The location for these keys are behind that door (and are used to only unlock that door):

To access that point, you can only go through this point here:

After you come down the stairs, the keys should be in the inventory of this rifleman:

Mission 10 – Is Paris Burning?

This mission features one set of keys.

These can be found in the inventory of the officer with the black uniform here:

These keys can be used to open the two doors (W [west] and E [east]) near the Eiffel Tower, so as to achieve the main objective:
