Overview
A Guide that aims to help those with problems regarding achievements not counting.
The Problem & The Fix
The Problem that some or maybe many might experience is that achievements, for example unlocking a level, do not count and are not displayed as achieved on steam.
To fix this issue you only need to do a few simple steps that don’t even involve deleting gamefiles or other files for that matter.
The fix that I will show you instead, only involves the Steam feature to apply betas, or in this case going back a version, to fix the achievement system.
Don’t worry, you don’t have to actually play on the old version as it is just used to trigger the achievements and you will NOT lose (can’t guarante this though) your progress in any of the games version.
This procedure will only take a couple of minutes, where the most deciding factor of this will be depended on your download speeds.
You HAVE to complete them in the legacy version if this applies, but it should take less than an hour to do so.
You’ll be reminded when it’s time to do this!
Step 1: Changing to Legacy Version
Changing to the ‘legacy‘ version of the game is pretty simple and straight forward thanks to the features implemented in Steam.
- First you have to go to your steam library and ‘right click‘ on Music Racer to see a context menu pop up.
- Once open click on properties to continue.
You should now see this window in which you can set up all kinds of stuff,
but for now we are only concerned about the ‘BETAS‘ tab on far right of the menu band.
- Click on the ‘Beta’ tab and new options should be displayed.
The first option that is now visible should be a dropdown menu which defaults to ‘NONE – Opt out of all beta programs‘.
- Click on the dropdown menu. A list should now appear.
- Select the option ‘legacy -‘
Now if you check your Steam library, you should see that the game is currently being downloaded again but is now named ‘Music Racer [legacy]‘.
Don’t be confused, because this is exactly what we want it to say.
This means so far everything is going as intended.
Step 2: Start the Game
This is probably the easiest step.
You just need to start the game like normal.
Once the game is running, you should now see achievements pop up in your bottom right corner.
Now is the time where you can ‘re’-unlock some achievements that you can’t unlock in the current version as those can’t be unlocked after for example a certain stage has been unlocked while in the current version.
You are basically done now, but only if you prefer the old version of Music Racer.
Step 3: Changing Back to Current Version
I’m guessing that you want to play the current version of Music Racer rather than the legacy one.
To do this just repeat the steps described in Step 1 but with one small change.
- instead of ‘legacy –‘ choose ‘NONE – Opt out of all beta programs‘.
Have fun!
